Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Call me crazy, but I think you do the deal now, or very soon. The kid sure looks to be a sure-fire NFL star in the making. Why not take a page out of the Eagles' book and lock him up to a long-term contract before he gets older. He has only played one season and he didn't make the pro-bowl. So based on that, signing him to fair value today will turn out to be a major bargain down the road as he develops into the best safety in the league. But if he starts demanding guaranteed money befitting a safety who has already made multiple pro-bowls, I'd tell him to take a hike.

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I'm with Schneed. I think he is only on his way up and will only be more expensive in the near future. I dont think we need to give him a astronomical deal; but he did kinda get a lower type offer. I think if we redo things now; we can save ourselves alot of money.

be fair with and bring him up to where he should be... if that doesn't keep him happy what will..

Yeah good point. If he's not happy with fair market value, then he's being unreasonable and the Redskins need to take a stand on that stuff. They need to send the message: around here you come to work, you play hard, you take pride in the Redskins and the city, and you will be rewarded fairly. |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Hey Daseal Iam not moving him to QB- I said OLB- Him and Arrington in a 3-4. His hitting ability is his thing. Playing OLB he would have ample opportunity compared to what he gets at saftey. So your saying he is not capable of OLB!

You and your damn Baltimore pipe dreams. If you want 3-4, move to baltimore. Thats my new rap. Our defense is complex, not only to confuse opposing offenses, but to confuse us as well. If you dont understand the complexity of a bear defense. Im referring to the Centerfield safety configuration, not the team, then dont make comments, like, lets have a 3-4 defense. This isnt the 80's anymore. Defense's have progressed beyond 2 types. It may seem difficult, but allow me to time capsule your 3-4 comments for you, and show them to you in 10 years, when everyone on ESPN has explained a bear defense to you. Because it may take 10 years for the new defensive schemes in the nfl to permiate your thick, high school level defensive minds. There are intelligent people getting paid a year more than you'll make in a lifetime, to figure out how to take advantage of conventional defenses. Step up to the plate, and expand a little. It's not a mystery why our defense (filled with previous underachievers) excelled against the West Coast Offenses(choke, choke, somebody blow the fucking dust off). Absolutely no insult intended to those that may take insult. But is anyone out there on the same page? |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Hitting isn't so much his thing. He's seen as a ballhawk for the most part. There's a reason Williams gave him the nickname "swoop" and it wasn't because of his hitting. He can lay a lick on someone without a doubt, however once he gets a bit more comfortable and reads offenses a bit better the league will be asking who Ed Reed was.
Putting him in as a LB negates this from him. Safety is perfect for him. He can be an enforcer but also make QBs think twice about throwing into coverage with him. |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Making Taylor a LB would be downright crazy.

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I think it's a great idea. (sarcasm button) I mean, wouldnt it be great after losing our starting cornerback, to weaken the secondary even more. And here is another really good idea, after having the 3rd ranked defense in the nfl last year, lets make a drastic change. Why not? Change is good right. Can he play the position? Yes. But why do we need him to again? If you want to take advantage of his speed, give him some open field to showcase it, dont lock him up at the line of scrimmage every play! Good lord, you must live in a vacuum.

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Greg Williams said he's the best WR, LB, Safety, CB, RB, and TE we have on our team... The man is athletic, let him scare people back there!

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Moksdown you want to showcase him in the open field-fine-I would rather showcase him doing some real damage. Whatever

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
That's a good plan, John. Let's disgruntle arguably our best player, move him to a foreign position which were loaded at, then bench him because he got shafted on his deal. Good plan! How do you not land a GM job somewhere?
 While we are at it I think we should now draft Mike Williams and make him our starting QB, he's real tall, he can see over the line you know! |

I cant come up with a response insulting enough John. And we might as well stay friendly. |

i agree with pretty much everything you've said. but it's the way you said it that is bothering me. I love this forum. i love the discussions. i hate it when someone feels their football knowledge is far superior than anyone posting. Monks, just because you perfected the bear defence on madden football doesnt make you an expert on a professional football. |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I don't think Monk was saying he knows more than the next guy, he's simply stating he feels that's a waste of Sean Taylors talent. I agree. I also feel it's foolish to move someone to a position he played well at to a position we're overloaded with talent at. No one here is an "expert." We all know and except this, why does that argument keep popping up, we all have different ideas about the team. No one's claiming they're an expert, watch the game in dannys booth, or that they're a doctor with first hand information on a case, does that mean the person can't voice their feelings on a forum completely dedicated to speculation?
