Re: Matt Jones

If he's switched to TE he'd be somewhat of a waste in this offense. Though TEs get a lot of playtime in Gibbs's offense, they also don't catch THAT many balls. He'd probably make an excellent Hback for someone, but if we had a guy with great hands and speed I'm sure Gibbs would get him the ball some! Cooley Hback, this guy at TE would be nasty.

Re: Matt Jones

does anyone think that we may actually get this guy by trading down or anything like that

i mean he is an athlete but i would like more experience at catching. He does have skill though. i mean there are athletes in the draft like Fabian Washington who clocked an awsome 3.28 at the CB position and ofcourse Derrick johnson who may be the best athlete in the draft. Williamson w/ great speed at WR who espn says is the fastest guy in the draft and that one guy that self proclaimed himself the fastest man in college sports who got the a 4.3 at the combine. all i am saying there are athletes but that as we all know isn't the only thing, that is why matt jones isn't projected to go in the top 16 or even in the first round

Re: Matt Jones

if this kid has a good head on his shoulders then no one is goign to be able to cover this guy. We arent going to take him at 9, but why not. 9 is where our pick is, yea you might feel better taking him in the 2nd round but no player is a guarantee and we dont have a second rounder. If we can trade down, then great. But you know someone is going to take a gamble on this kid. I wouldnt be surprised if he ended up top 20.

Jones is unpolished and defiently a project he wasen't catching ball's to cleanly at the combine he will need a lot of work, I don't see him going in the first, but second I would say defiently.

Re: Matt Jones

Jones has awfully skinny legs for me to think of him as a tight end. If - and I really do mean IF - he actually weighs 240 lbs, then none of that weight is from his knees down. I'd be loathe to make him into a TE where a DE or a LB could bang on him.

You want to roll the dice on him - not in the first round at #9 and maybe not even in the 2nd round? How about taking him and trying to make him a CB?

He is already fast but in addition he is huge. He would tower over even the tallest of the current crop or WRs in the NFL. The question is: can he/will he hit people on running plays...

As a QB, I would not take him until about Round 7.

He's being projected as a WR in this draft.

Re: Matt Jones

any draft pick at 9 is a gamble, and this year, id say there is 2 or 3 sure starters... so there is no problem taking a guy who is 6'6 240 running a 4.4 40.... and chris mort saying he has the best hands out of the draft... no matter who we pick at 9... its going to be a gamble... id take it on matt to be honest... bring him in, he's got way way to much upside. split him wide, motion out of backfield, slot, trick play qb, and emergency qb

Re: Matt Jones

anyone could be a bust this draft... braylon could be the next david terrell
aaron rogers could be the next tim couch
cedric benson could be the next ron dayne or rasham sallam or whatever
the point is why not draft a guy with the best upside, and pure athlete available? all he is missing is fundamentals and that can be taught.

you have to pay for this site on most articles, but it does show you the headlines, and it does show gibbs has a notice on the "FREAK"

Not too many guys switch positions and succeed in the NFL. Actually I can't even think of one that succeeded. Sorry but this guy would be a reach even in the third round let alone 1st. NO DICE!

Hines Ward - former QB, consistent Pro Bowl WR

Antawnn Randle-El - former QB, dangerous WR

Brian Mitchell - former QB, future HoF (fingers crossed) return man

The odds aren't great, but this kid looks good.

Brud you left out probably the best example Sean Bennett of tennessee, he was a former college QB in the exact mold of Jones.

Wasnt Drew Bennett(SP) of the titans a college QB?
