That is fine if everything were equal but....the NFL and their players generate billions of dollars for the league and their owners. I am not sure if you generate that much for you boss? Most of the billions earned by ther NFL is on the backs and broken knees of the players. Add to that the average players career span is 3.5 years. I would rather see the players get their share than see the owners pocket it all. Regarding you statement above: How would you feel if you are making $70K and the guy in the office next you (doing the same job) is making $500K? Add to that, you are doing the job much better than then your over paid co-worker. Would you still whistle on your way to work? I would not, I'd be pissed. |

Re: Stop Whining!!!
When it comes to where people are making millions and millions that is a VERY different story. When you have millions, WORLDS of opportunity are opened up for you. That's completely different from making $70,000. When you are making millions, you are living a life of luxury.

LavarTaylor21:
I liked your opening statement. There has been way too much whining about Sean Taylor. I am not sure if you were a member of this site when we drafted him, but the members that wanted Kellen Winslow II were bitching up a storm just like some are doing regarding QB Campbell. There was a thread last year calling Taylor an idiot, moron, etc. What irks me most about this whole situation is the NFL (by their own laws) makes these work outs VOLUNTARY! However if you decide not go...you get thrown under the bus by the fans, media and coaches. Call them what they really are...MANDATORY! |

Malcolm- If you were making your boss millions, would not expect to be properly compensated? Bonus, raise..whatever. Or would sit there and accept getting ripped off? |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
If I'M making millions, I'd enjoy the fact that I am living at a level most people never dream of. That might be because I could DEAL with making a million or two. I wouldn't care what other people around me were making.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
One major problem with this comparison, in the NFL you re one play, one injury away from instant retirement.
While at our jobs, if we do not do something stupid to get fired, we can keep our jobs until we are 60 or more. So the NFL players need to get as much as they can in their very short careers. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
I'd agree with that if they made salaries of $100k or less a season. They are making MILLIONS of dollars. If they want a fat signing bonus, that's fine. That can set them up for life whether they get hurt or not. OK, so you sign a contract with a $4 milllion signing bonus. You get hurt first game of the season, and can never play again.
Here's an idea: Sell your mansion, sell your Hummers and invest that $4 million you made into high quality investments and you'll continue to make money. OR maybe use the degree that you hopefully earned in school to get a job. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
Taylor has to at least answer his phone when Gibbs calls. I don't care where he is working out but I would like to see Moss in there getting his timing down with Ramsey. He is going to get a new contract because the Skins don't want to have given up Coles and not get something in return so that shouldn't be the issue. What is the issue is he isn't a number 1 WR and wants to be paid like one...

Re: Stop Whining!!!
This seems like a pretty simple matter. Taylor sat down with the Redskins management. Both sides presumably had highly paid lawyers and advisers there. They worked out a deal. What earthshaking, unforeseeable event has happened in the relatively short time since that meeting that justifies Taylor's demand for more money?

Re: Stop Whining!!!
Every year all of the Miami players go and work out at UM. They have been doing it for years and they generally tend to be some of the better players in the NFL. There will be plenty of time during mini camps and regular camp for them to work out with the team. The NFL is really high on the talent that comes out of Miami every year so why do they have a problem if those players want to keep doing the same things every year that have made them so successful. Do you really think that the offseason workouts are going to be the reason Patrick Ramsey cant connect with Santana Moss in the regular season. I don't think so. If training down in Miami will make Sean and Santana better, I am all for it!!! They will be here when camp starts and they will probably be in better shape than anyone else.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
I'm OK with them training in Miami, I'd prefer to have them with the rest of the team. What I DO have a problem with, is them asking for contracts when neither deserves a new one.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
I agree about the contracts.
