Re: 53-man Roster Predictions
i think keim said cutting griffin is a 6.7m cap hit (and we have 8.6m free). i doubt we let him play though or find a trade with the option already attached.

Cutting Griffin would cost us the exact same as if he was on the roster. There is no additional hit to be had. His contract is guaranteed so its the same either way. The cap hit is the extra person added to the 53 that wouldnt have normally made the team since there would be one less roster spot (the one that RG3 would have). If his cap hit for this year is 6.7 mil (which sounds about right but I honestly dont know the exact number), then he costs 6.7 mil if he is on the roster. If we cut him, he still counts 6.7 mil against the cap due to his contract being guaranteed. There is no extra hit to our cap. Its just whether that salary is for a roster player or we are paying it to someone no longer on the roster (aka dead money). So if we have 8.6 mil available on our cap now, and we cut Griffin. Then we have 8.6 mil still available with one more roster spot to pay for. |

Yes, yes it does... Also... 13 - 9 = 4 Who cares. The 6.7 mil figure is already apart of the cap. You dont add a second 6.7 mil if he gets cut. That would mean his cap hit this year would be 13.4 mil if they added a second one to it. The remaining cap space that we have already includes his cap hit this year. Cutting him doesnt change the cap hit since its guaranteed and already figured into the remaining cap number. It only means we pay that plus the salary of whoever is added to the roster that takes his roster spot. Which most likely would be someone making league minimum or close to it seeing as that would be the 53rd player on the roster that would have gotten cut had we kept him. |

Even without words you managed to come off as condescending. I'm impressed.. You're not seeing the whole picture. The 6.7 you're referring to is guaranteed, meaning it's ALREADY INCLUDED in our total cap. They've already subtracted it from the budget. It's a sunk cost no matter what. The point is now whoever we sign is eating straight out of that total 8.6mil cap we have left, which is a "hit." |
Re: 53-man Roster Predictions
So far so good. :D

If i'm misquoting or misunderstanding him, please let me know. |

If we have 8.6 mil in cap space now, then nothing changes by cutting him since his money is guaranteed and already figured into the cap space. The remaining cap space we have now will already include his salary into it. The money goes from being money paid to a player on the roster to dead money, but there is no additional hit for him. The only change to our cap is paying the player that would take his roster spot. |
Re: 53-man Roster Predictions
I would like to see these three young players make the team: Justin Rogers, Jackson Jeffcoat, and Kyshoen Jarrett.
|
Re: 53-man Roster Predictions
I think Jarrett is close to a lock and that Rogers and Jeffcoat are likely to make the cut as well.

Love to see Jeffcoat get there......

Re: 53-man Roster Predictions
There is a chance that 7 of this years draft class will make the team. When was the last time we have this many rookies make the team?

Cutting Griffin doesn't cost us or save us any cap room. We currently have X million in salary cap space, and that figure included Robert's guaranteed salary. If we keep him, our salary cap space is still X million. If we cut him, our salary cap space is still X million. I don't think you grasp that.
