Last year's D was a perfect example of how drive and passion outweighs talent. Not to say our D wasn't well-coached and adequately talented but they played with the passion that the offense was lacking.

Re: Interview with Portis

I liked this part of what Portis had to say.
I would not have expected to hear Royal was doing that well.
I would not have thought of Royal as one of our weapons.
I figured him as a June 1 cut.
I am glad to be wrong.
I think we are all hoping for the best for Jacobs....He has so much potential.

"Q: When you look at the offense during practice at OTAs, which players stand out to you?
A: "I think (Chris) Cooley is going to be a big part of this game plan. You have Santana Moss and David Patten. You have Robert Royal coming on strong. You have a lot of weapons. Hopefully, Taylor Jacobs is going to explode onto the scene like everyone knows he can and become the player that they thought he was when they drafted him. We have a lot of weapons that people have not seen and we are waiting to show them."

Yeah, I mean like I said before with Williams, you don't MAKE that kind of stuff up. I mean it was way too specific to be scripted. AND he's not a coach so I don't expect a lot of BS about our players from other players.

Gotta love talk like that.

You know what else we need to remember. Our offense only needs to improve. They don't have to be stellar. Look at how much the NFC blew last year. Other than the Eagles, where was the threat. I think the playoffs are a realistic goal, if the rest of the NFC continues to blow as badly. Of course, it would be nice to win a couple of games in our division.

Too bad we play a butt load of teams from the West this year...

I love his attitude. He could be a monster this year.
Hopefully this happens, but I agree with skinny. The running game will come down to having a passing game. If we can show that we CAN hurt them with our passing game then we're set.
And the passing game will come down to having a running game................

On our news here in Texas they showed Portis in the stands at the wizards games.......and for a tv station here to show a Redskin player that's truely amazing...but gee he wore a gaudy suit........ :)

Re: Interview with Portis

Monk - when the other team has every player "except the two guys guarding our WR's" in the box, it makes running hard. We're going to have trouble running until we prove that we can hurt you deep if you don't respect us.

Obviously we're a running team, but until we establish that we can pass - our running game won't be able to produce as much as we'd like.

With Jansen back, an upgrade at center in Rabach, it should help BOTH the running and passing game...........Portis will get the holes to run through, and Ramsey will get the protection to throw deep...........

Doesn't matter if he has a whole the size texas when there are 3 extra guys waiting on 2 feet on the other side.

Re: Interview with Portis

Agreed with Daseal here. Normally the run sets up the pass, but everyone last year feared our run and no one cared about our ability to throw the ball... Especially deep. They could keep a lot of guys in the box which stifles the running game but also closed alot of the short passing lanes... And if you remember last year all it was was short passes we were throwing.
