I'm not going to try to predict who we'll be after the bye. I just take solace in two things: One, the NFC East is absolutely dreadful so really any of these terrible teams have a shot. Two, we're better than the Ravens so working is Baltimore is completely bearable right now. :D
Chico I have to agree with you spot on. Obviously I am speculating here but I think that Sean and Jon really had in mind the offense to function around the run game with KC managing and not having to throw it more 20x most games. The fact that has fallen a part miserably and we have been able to adjust to passing game as the focal point and the season has not yet imploded is great. I don't think anyone thinks that KC is the QB of the future but I am not sure when it will be addressed. Scot does not seem to be someone who will sign or draft on need without it being a quality change.

Agree w BaltimoreSkins, seemed like the plan was a good running game, as witnessed in the first 4 games.. But who knows really why that isn't working.. poor RB play? Oline injuries? poor TE blocking? predictable play calling? lack of downfield passing? Anyway, hope we fix this going forward.

I for one believe KC could be our QB of the future. Of course, "could be" is different than "will be". IF we get running game going, IF we get better WR play (?draft tall #1 WR to develop next year to stretch field), IF Reed stays healthy and we have a good backup TE when he's not, and IF our defense stops letting them score every drive to take us out of running the ball.... I think KC has always lacked confidence, and when he's off he's off. Perhaps the "Did you like that" nation-wide phenomenon gives him that confidence long-term?

BUT, I'd say we still draft a QB in the middle rounds to develop and perhaps add a veteran backup QB (?is Bradford any better than Colt?).. And then give Cousins the job with confidence unless / until he messes up.

Run game has been a disappointment as the season has worn on, BUT Jones and Chris Thompson have been good, contributing backs.

Reasons the running game suffered:

1. D coordinator are committing to stopping the run because they are comfortable with our limited passing game. We don't have speed with garçon and grant, so they don't have to play over the top.
2. Alfmo has not been good. You would think a power back would be a fit with Callahan, I'm a little lost.
3. Luavo injury hurt the run game. Our centers are effing terrible in the run game...Kory l was terrible, mcrib isn't much better.

I think my answer to help the run game...get d jax back healthy and make Matt jones the feature back with Chris Thompson getting an expanding role.

Wrong! I think Kirk can be our QB of the future because I think that we can win big with a QB who is good but not great as long as he has a strong team around him. It's been done many times before.

I think Garcon is underrated speed-wise. He certainly doesn't have much trouble pulling away from people after the catch.

Well, tough luck our opponent this week is The Bye. Nobody has ever defeated this opponent before!:cheeky:

Alfmo has been indecisive and he seems to lack explosion. Maybe the former is causing the latter.

Redskins' Jackson, Kerrigan, Hall questionable Sunday vs. Patriots

I feel bad about Kerrigan, but it is honestly time to get rid of Jackson and Hall.

Hall, yes. Old as dirt.

Jackson?? Not old at all. Only if you can find me a threat to replace him with. Cap space is not a major constraint for us this offseason.

You need to be on the field to be a threat....

Respectfully disagree with a couple of points.

I think Long has been ok after the 1st game he started. Kory started against Miami and the Rams.

Carrier has been getting killed in the run game, although I thought he was serviceable last game. I'm still not sure McCoy should be on the field at all.

After week 2, everyone on here including me was singing the praises of Callahan. A few posters even called for him to replace Gruden.

Haven't seen a pro Callahan post since the week after the Rams game (I'm not saying one doesn't exist).

How much blame should he get? He got all the credit when it worked.

If not him, then who? Gruden, McVay?

OL, TE, WR, the RB themselves?

EDIT:

Nm, as soon as I posted I realized it's all Gruden's fault.

Kerrigan is questionable? The dude just had hand surgery. That seems like a given he's going to be out.

I could see him back by the Giants game.

Btw, Leonard Williams is tearing it up w the Jets. Scherff has been good, but I wonder how we'll look at this draft in a few years. Our Dline has sucked and really could've used Williams. I wonder if Williams+replacement-level-guard is better than Scherff and what we have... Time will tell.

I understand injuries, having blown out my ACL this summer, but honestly Jackson injury has lasted too long.
