Re: Drafting a running back in the X round.
You know outside of E. Elliott, I see a lot of question marks with the RB draft stock.
2 guys I'm intrigued with is Kelvin Taylor at Florida and Kenyan Drake at Alabama. mid to late round guys...I don't know if these guys are every down backs but certainly fall into that change of pace mold |
Re: Drafting a running back in the X round.
I think u guys are already forgetting about jones he at one point in the season led the team in total tds. Let him get a full yr as the number 1 and bring back CT to be the 3rd down back.

well one thing we found out, Matt Jones wasn't able to make it through a whole year healthy. And wasn't on the field during the most important game of the year. Like some experts said, his violent style of running can open him up to injuries...I think even some said that here, ive heard we have some prophets on the board these days. CT is another guy with an injury history... |
Re: Drafting a running back in the X round.
One pending free agent to watch this weekend is Ronnie Hillman in Denver. He seems to really him improved these last couple years.

Good points let's see what he can do next yr

Re: Drafting a running back in the X round.
I wouldn't even look at FA backs. Not when you can get someone cheaper in the draft and with way less wear and tear on them. I say pencil in Jones as the starter, bring back Thompson and Thomas, and draft someone later on.

Agreed. How many running backs do you need anyway? Jones, Thomas, and Thompson should be enough. Maybe sign a guy for the practice squad. |
Re: Drafting a running back in the X round.
Silas Redd!

i wouldn't be content with jones as the lead back right now. injuries and fumbles have really hurt my faith in him. i guess if you have thompson and a guy like pierre around as insurance and take some carries it'd be okay though. |

I think this sets us up for a 2015 TE situation, except Jones isn't Jordan Reed. I think on offense for the offseason, shaping the run game comes right after resigning Cousins...which resigning Cousins probably the easiest part of the offseason. |

I'm all for using a later round pick and UDFA, I just wouldn't waste money on any of the top free agents to be. |

misunderstood you, thought you meant draft someone "later" on as next year. I think the RB Free agent market on a mid range guy like Hillman still more affordable than Alfmo and more productive. Id like the idea of CT, Silas Redd, a 4-5th round pick, Hillman, and Matt Jones as a stable. Let them fight it out. |

Problem is Thompson is always hurt and Thomas will be a year older. Wouldn't mind seeing Hillman here for the right price. Real solid all around back who can do a little bit of everything. |
Re: Drafting a running back in the X round.
Thompson hasn't done squat...I wont miss him.
