Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
If we can stop the run and get to Palmer I think we will be fine. Cards have a good defense but even with Reed out we still have options.

Thats the formula for every game isnt it?:) I dont see it happening. We dont have a magic pill for the defense thats going to fix it,Johnson has been the best back in the league since he became a starter. If we can get lucky and get some leads and Johnson doesnt get many carries then thats the only way I see us stopping him. Palmer is old but he's still capable of having a great game, especially against our defense.I wont be shocked if we win by any stretch, but I'm more inclined to go with Az at home in this one.We have to get tds in the red zone, and thats another thing we need a magic pill for, because we dont capitalize when we have those opportunities. |

Not surprised. The move picking up Vernon Davis in the offseason has looked mighty genius on the part of Scot McCloughan! |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Agreed, and because they're very much a downfield passing team, it's all about the trench matchup, because Palmer will just sit and sit back there.
We can get to him, big time. I want 5+ sacks.
Just looked up the sack totals - Cards have given up the 3rd most with 33. 2016 NFL Team Passing Stats - National Football League - ESPN I think it will be a good litmus test for Barry and our DL. No reason to not get pressure this game .... unless Barry rushes 4 and plays a conservative soft coverage thinking our offense will score enough to win, all he has to do is limit the Cards to mid 20 pts or less. Which would kinda suck but Ill take results over looks. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Not sure I trust our defense on the road. Actually I don't trust them.
Cards 31 Skins 24 |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Palmer blows, he's not the same guy he was the last couple of years.
|
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
He does blow. Ever since that meltdown he had in the NFC Championship he's been on the decline. Hoping we can turn him over a few times.

Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Reed is out and that's fine, he needs to heal for the strech.

Yeah I actually don't want him to play, don't want him to aggravate a shoulder injury. We're not talking about a finger or even an ankle, shoulder injury is not something you just strap and forget, playing through the injury against the Cowboys was pretty heroic enough, give him a rest.
This will be a tough one imo. Arizona's defense is first in yards allowed and eleventh in points allowed. David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald on offense are two great players going against probably our biggest defensive weaknesses, our rush defense and nickle corner. We need to either sit Fuller this game and give someone else a shot (Will Blackmon, maybe Toler) or give him some help. Some INTs from Palmer would be nice (11 on the year), but our secondary seems allergic to catching balls I don't feel good about this one, but I'll say Redskins, 28-20
I heard Chris Cooler say a second time that we should sit Whitner, start Cravens at SS (he also said asking a guy his size to do gap control against linemen was asking too much), and play Will Blackmon at nickel corner, he played the position last year for us and played it well. Overall I think we'll be fine. Their defense really didn't look that good against the Falcons, and I think we can show our offense is the same caliber. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Winnable game if we score early and contain David Johnson. If we keep it close or fall behind, the Cards are just going to run DJ all over us.
In recent memory, EVERY time you have said that, we have failed epically.

JR has motivated me to get this curse broken! KC is going to continue his growth, and the defense having gotten a chance to regroup. 35 -21 Skins win
Sorry, this game does not qualify as a curse-breaker for this particular curse. Certain games have that "this is the game that gets us over the brink - we finally win the big one." Usually nationally televised, almost always divisional or against a division leader and you're predictions are invariably prefaced by "This is THE game we've been waiting for, the game we put it all together when everything is on the line" or words to that effect and then ... we don't. We need this game but it is not on the level of magnitude as the Dallas game. I think we win and do so convincingly. They're rested, they're back is against the wall, and they are anxious wipe the stink of losing off their jerseys. 31 - 21. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
We're probably going to need to score 30 points to win. That's a tall order against the Cardinals who have a strong defense. I'm hoping for a Skins win but I wouldn't bet on it.
