Re: Dak v. Romo

It pains me to say it but Romo is the better all around QB than Dak, however, Dak has played well enough and is complimented by the league's best offensive line and he has lots of weapons. Dak can win with this Cowboys team and I feel he has earned his right to be their starter going forward.

I believe Romo will play at least two more years, possibly only one if he gets injured again next year or struggles badly. The Rams are rumored to be trying to make a move for Romo in the offseason, as is Houston and Denver. I think complicating the matters will be Romo's contract. The cowboys would likely command a high draft pick or two for Romo. He would almost certainly have to agree to a re-structured contract to make it easier for teams to go after him. I am not sure how much of a chance there is of Dallas straight up releasing him. It honestly makes me think of the Mark Brunell situation in 2004, Jaguars maybe were going to release him but a few teams stepped in with trade offers, and we ended up winning the day with what we offered. I think the next team in line for Brunell after us was the Miami Dolphins, although i don't 100% remember.

Re: Dak v. Romo

My two cents. Agreed that Dak has not stretched the field and is more successful with the check down passes under a defense. He is a rookie and I think the deep shots will be more in his playbook next year. Remember he did start camp at #3 on the depth chart behind Romo and Moore. Not a whole lotta reps there. But this is just what the team needs anyway. Dallas has to win time of possession to win games. They are in trouble when the defense is on the field too long and gets exposed.

I think that if and when Dallas secures the top seed in the NFC they will hand the ball to Romo for any remaining games. Romo has not played HEALTHY for two years. And he and the Cowboys will want to show the other 31 teams in the league that he can still play at a high level. It will be his audition for the next stop in his career. Once he shows he can still play, the Cowboys will let the market come to them.

I cannot see Houston trading for Romo. They have too much money wrapped up in the QB position and Oswieler. I could see Denver as a landing spot. They do not seem overly enamored with Siemien and Romo would be a good mentor for young Paxton Lynch. I have not heard the Rams mentioned until reading it here. But that would depend on the new Head Coach going forward. And you have to throw the Jets in there. Just because, well, they are the Jets and they like carrying 4 or 5 QBs on the roster.

Dallas will have to trade Romo. Even though from the dollar side of the discussion they SHOULD release him. I feel like Jerry Jones won't do it. He would be perfectly content to have the highest paid backup in the league if he does not get what he wants in trade value.

Well, there are only two more games, and I doubt they "hand the ball" to Romo next Monday (especially, if the Giants win, and Dallas needing a win). Being, I believe the Giants will beat the Eagles on Saturday, then I don't surmise Romo will be afforded the opportunity to play (unless, Prescott is injured against the Lions or, possibly, in the last week of the season).

Frankly, I wouldn't wanna play in a meaningless game, if I was Romo, and take the chance of getting injured again in an unimportant matchup.

I'd just play Prescott and/or Sanchez in that scenario. Romo has a chance of being a starting QB somewhere else next season. Sanchez, not so much.

my best friend is a cowboys fan. i think he said it best when he said both of those QBs can win games. but romo is the only one that will lose games. prescott stays within a limited playbook, and is coached well. not throwing it up, and hoping bryant makes a play. romo has a bit of farve in him, always looking down field and trying to make a play

A bit of Farve is a good thing. Lol. And yeah the great ones usually can win or lose games. Maybe Dak cannot lose games, but he cannot put the team on his back and win either. Give a healthy Romo Zeke, this line, and this D and they are clear cut Super Bowl favorites.

Re: Dak v. Romo

I think the biggest thing Dak has going for him is that he doesn't make mistakes. They don't ask too much of him and with little pressure on him from the organization to be the man he is thriving because of it. They have such a good team around him that it's easy for him to be confident because they will pick him up if he does make a mistake. I think that if a key guy or two was to get injured they would ask more of him which could mess him up though.
