Re: Top Stories Going Into Camp
I'm not sure it's an unpopular opinion.
Sheehan was advocating for the blow it up strategy earlier this offseason. But for me the thing is: A) I don't think it's realistic, especially not with this franchise, and not this year, people's jobs are on the line, they're going to do whatever gives them the best chance to win now B) I'm not sure it really works that way, I'd say teams that build sustained success try to win year in and year out, and do a good job of drafting with their late round picks rather than hoping for the one high draft pick that's going to turn their roster around C) I feel like it'd be extremely hard to build a winning culture in a locker room if the players had the feeling the coaching staff and front office guys were not trying to win with everything they got. I mean these guys are not doing politics, they're going onto the field, putting their bodies on the line, to win. Plus a football season is a long period of time to go through, with the media pressure surrounding you and all... I just don't see a winning culture growing thanks to a losing season supposingly being better for the long term future
Honestly, I'm tired of the negative Nancy's that want to blow everything up. The Browns have been blowing things up every year, and that hasn't worked for them. Like it or not, the Redskins have done a lot of things to try to build their roster, infuse young players, and try to minimize crazy contracts. One of their main problems has been getting blown up like crazy with injuries for two seasons in a row. If the team went 3-13 for two straight years, I would say blow things up, but that hasn't happened. Honestly, I feel that if we catch a f*cking break with injuries, there is a something that this team could do to build on and get some wins, perhaps even a playoff appearance or two. |

I don't doubt that at all |
Wow the Haskins Lion King video. Gotta put Trent and Scherff in the featured player part but still, what a video. Great production.
For the record i didn't make them, just stumbled across them, they are well done. |
Re: Top Stories Going Into Camp
The NFL is a year to year league anymore (other than NE).
If we can play as a top 10 defense all year, this team could make a playoff run. I would agree if our defense was trash but there is really good talent there. Haskins/Case or whoever just needs to protect the ball and we will have a chance. This team was 6-2 with Smith throwing for 170 yards a game and still won game with Josh Johnson at QB.
We can't make a playoff run and beat the top teams with Keenum. He's already been on 20 teams and none of them wanted him. Like Colt, great back up and that should be his role. This is why Haskins should get 100% of the first team reps in camp. How did protecting the ball work against teams like the Saints, Falcons and Colts? Smith was playing his worst game against the Texans before he got hurt. So by my count that'd be 6-4 and going the wrong way. You gotta have a QB that can take you all the way. |

Gotta get Silverback on the field to help. |

Doug Williams: Decision to start Dwayne Haskins will be made by "Jay (Gruden), myself, probably Bruce (Allen) and the owner"
So.. Haskins is starting |

So.. Haskins is starting
If ownership was dictating everything, we would not have traded for Montez Sweat in the draft. Personally, there's going to be more fan pressure to start Haskins than from ownership. |

So.. Haskins is starting
This. This is why it's so hard to find any optimism going forward with this franchise. Are all of these folks going to be involved in the starting WR positions too?? The RBs?? The LBs?? I'm betting Jay cannot wait to get fired after this season to get out of this organization. |

So.. Haskins is starting
Yeah I heard Doug. Really it should be up the head coach. Bruce will agree with whatever Dan wants cause he's a rat bitch and will do whatever he needs to do to stay employed. Problem is Jay will most likely opt to stick with Colt or Case in order to stay average. The hell with that. I'd rather win 4 or 5 games with Haskins playing over winning 7 or 8 games with the other guys. The thing with Haskins is he was playing his best at the end of Ohio State's season. He was getting better as the season wore on. |
Re: Top Stories Going Into Camp
Owner shouldn't have a say, Jay's earned the call.
My personal feeling is if the Oline is intact and Haskins has played well in preseason...then start him. If Haskins been shaky, then start Keenum/Colt the first 5 and give Haskins the opportunity to watch and then step in mid season |
Re: Top Stories Going Into Camp
Here's a crazy thought, let the competition play out in camp and play the best one.

Agree and that works great in HS and College but money talks and fans won't come to games with Colt Mccoy as the starter, probably not even Case. Haskins will put people in the stands and that is what the NFL / Owners want. |

After he left the Skins, Mike Shanahan revealed that Dan Snyder has no interest in any position other than QB, over which Snyder somehow thinks he is qualified to have the final say. My point being that Snyder probably won't be involved in decisions about other positions. |
