I think the new mustang is in its first year I would wait a year or two for them to work out any problems. It seems that anyone I know that has purchased a new designe car have had problems that are corrected in later years. I know the mustang has been around for ever but this years is a new design.

Do what I did and save yourself a lot of money. I bought a 1988 Toyota Camry for $200. It has over 270K miles on it and runs like a dream. Since it's older, it's easier to take care of and I'll probably be able to put 500K miles on it before the frame completely rusts out. If I had the money, I'd go for the new mustang (the only good car Ford makes). If you get the YES channel and watch the Yankees at all, you might have seen the one with the pin stripes and Yankees logo I'd really like to have (because they're giving it away).

If you're gonna get the CTS, pony up some extra dough and get the V-Series CTS. It can be had right now for ~$46k. It's a C6 in sheep's clothing!

kewl thanks. I liked how the sonata drove during the test drive and I like the security of having a pretty lengthy warranty. for me with my budget and lack of credit history, I've been trying to decide between the sonata, a used 98 BMW, the matrix, and the kia spectra 5, and a scion.

Go with the Sonata. Out of all the ones you mentioned. Hyundai has a pretty good track record. Matrix isn't bad, but it doesn't "look" as nice as the Sonata if that's important to you.

yeah that's the main one I'm leaning towards as a 05 or earlier model fits my price range, reliability, good gas mileage, and comfort. a lot of the other cars I test drove I felt kind of claustraphobic in.

Someone mentioned the CTS being bad on mileage, you should test drive the GTO. It's VERY plain on the inside and it isn't as fast as you'd think. My uncle has one and he fills it up every 2-3 days and he doesn't drive that far.

What year is the GTO? Also, what tranny does he have? Auto/Manual?

For 2005, the GTO got the LS2 C6 400hp 6.0L engine, as compared to the LS1 C5 350hp 5.7L engine it had the previous model year. The type of driving he does and the transmission the car has also makes a big difference too. The automatic GTO is considered a "gas guzzler" by the gov't while the 6speed is not (difference of ~$2k in taxes). The 6speed gets several MPG better. I've read where the C5 manual gets ~30mpg cruising@60mph, so I would expect the GTO to get a similar number.

I hope BMW offers a free service loaner, cuz you're gonna need it w/ a Bimmer.

I read a report last year that said the newly redesigned 7Series has as many problems as the average 8 year old Lexus.

Personaly I think that what car you buy depends on the type of driver you are combined with the amount of luxury you want, taking into consideration price you are willing to pay and how much that ride will fit into your everyday needs.

For instance I like speed and dont really care how pretty the car looks, or the amount of creature comforts. I need to be able to carry three passengers easily, and I want to spend around 36G's or less. I narrowed it down to 3 cars. The EVO MR, WRX STI, and the Pontiac GTO. The GTO won in my book, because of the horsepower to weight ratio after considering passengers. Plus all four bucket seats are appealing. I have to get the kids to school plus make it to work within 15 minuites

You guys may take a different approach, but that is my take on the whole thing.

Roger that, CP5, however this is a 97, back when BMW still crafted their rides.
