If they are going to move on from Payne this offseason by cutting him, it’s would be negligent not to attempt to move him.

Bobby Wagner want to play for a title? Me:
Err, Payne is signed through to 2027, and while we have an out in 2026, that would make no sense ($11.2M dead cap).

Why the urge to sell core players that are still contributing? With the non-returners we'll have leaving end of this year (inc. Lattimore?) you'll have a gutted roster. We need to build now while JD5 is on his rookie contract, and while we have got too many OOTH players on the roster, we have some promising young ones. Yes we need to move to a younger roster, but selling good players is stupid.
You know how it goes, a little adversity and some fans are ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater

Man, Snyder did such a number on this fanbase. Truly.

All that aside, I agree with you Matty that they're not likely to do anything splashy here. Obviously, being down our top 3 WRs, 3 DEs (including our best two), starting RB, and starting SS is a lot to overcome -- key pieces on both sides of the ball. I would imagine that the coaches and AP are aware that they've got a different team than they can actually field at the moment, which doesn't scream blow it up. My guess is that they're likely to get guys that are no more than a stop-gap (read: cheap), if anything.

Having said that, it seems clear that Ekeler and Lattimore won't be back, and I'd be surprised if Noah Brown returns (just not healthy enough), which means we're going to need to WR, RB, and CB help. If AP could find someone he likes AND thinks can stick beyond this season before the 11/4 deadline, I'm all for it. But I am having a hard time imagining anyone that fits that bill will be available to us, or , perhaps more accurately, available to us on reasonable terms.

I'd put CB, WR and LB as top 3 needs, now and for the draft. Edge probably top now, but maybe 3rd or 4th for the draft. I'm interested to see if Jones can add something at CB and pressure Igbinoghene to up his game. I see only 1, if either being re-signed in '26. I can see the Lattimore experiment being over and Ertz having more downside than up, but aside from Wagner hopefully retiring (sorry big man, it's time), I don't see anyone else that should definitely be gone, at least that isn't an FA in February. If we can improve at those 4 positions at all now, the season is salvageable at least. Into next year all 4 positions need an upgrade, and I'd throw in S and TE too (if Sinnott is a wash out).

Too me when it comes to needs, DE stands tall at the top spot

RB slightly above WR

JD5 and this oline with a great RB would push the offense into the stratosphere. While we have run the ball with decent stats, I don’t think we are a great running team.

Absolutely not, but he is literally the RB room. I love me some mcPickles but he isn’t in future plans.

Bill gonna need some help
We are NOT a playoff team. Not even close. We lucked out last year, and this team still needs more building blocks. Draft defense.
Here we go again. Last year was not luck. How do you win two playoff games on the road against really good team and say it's luck? They peaked and got hot. The way the team is constructed it's probably not set up for long term success, the breaks went their way, especially w/ injuries and the QB played great. I think that would be a more accurate analysis over just saying the team was lucky.

Agreed. This was a function of Dallas having a DC with a brain. They knew we had no receivers, so they stacked the box and dared us to try to run on them. So, unsurprisingly, it was a challenge. Bill will be fine.

Re: 11/4 Trade deadline: Buyers, Sellers or not involved?

Bill is the man. No one was going to be successful against Dallas. They stacked the box and completely dominated our line.

Same thing is going to happen in Kansas City too. I'm actually glad this game is on Monday now. This is a guaranteed loss, glad my Sunday won't be ruined.

I'm glad he's out,let him be completely healed up and Mariotta was playing better than him anyway,he's not looking like he did last year, not even close.
