Re: Hawkins Signed!
Talent and a heartbeat?
Sounds like someone we like to sign... |
Re: Hawkins Signed!
i would like to think that given the amount of injuries on defense last season we would have about 400 DBs in at camp and then cut it down to the 8-10 we need on the roster. The more people with experience trying for the spots, the better. The more people GW can use in different schemes, the better.
Go Skins! |
Re: Hawkins Signed!
I also agree that another experienced DB is a good thing. Hawkins is not a bad player.
But I agree more with whoever it was that said we need a pass rushing DE. How many years are the Skins going to go without addressing this need? Especially seeing how pass rushing specialist (in the ND Kalu mold) go fairly cheap in the draft. The biggest help to any secondary is a good rush! |
.....As for signing the rookies, very few rookies are signed before mid-July, so I wouldn't worry about that...it appears that the Redskins aren't, and it's their job to get it done.....
I have a problem with the NFL teams waiting until a few weeks before camp to start negotiations with their high draft picks. The problem I have is when negotiations take longer than expected and the player is late to training camp, the player is the one that is blamed. The the media and fans end up blaming the "greedy" players. Why not start negotiations in early June? The reason might be because NFL teams use the deadline of the start of training camp as a negotiating tactic. In other words they try to pressure players to sign a more favorable contract or risk being the greedy 'camp holdout". When negotiations go slow and it looks like a player may become a camp holdout, you always hear the coach or GM spining it on TV and saying, 'if Billy Bob (the rookie) is a holdout his chances of starting and contributing are less.' Then the teams start removing money off the table for every day that they hold out. Just my take. |
