Re: Who needs to step up?
I thought I heard somewhere that early in the Denver game that Portis told Gibbs his shin was hurting too much to turn to the outside, that he'd rather run between the tackles until he felt better.
Can anyone confirm this? |
Re: Who needs to step up?

While I am still happy with the start of the season (but disappointed the last 2 weeks) there are a couple people I'd like to see bring their game a little more..
-Sean Taylor: Not really complaining about him, he's been solid, but he wasn't drafted to be solid, he was drafted to be a game changer. He's supposed to be Ronnie Lott, Steve Atwater, Ed Reed, making plays on the ball, causing fumbles, crushing WR and tight ends, blitzing and terrorizing QB.. Once Springs, Rogers and Harris are all in the game and healthy let's see if he is let loose some more. I think Sean Taylor has been playing great. He caused two fumbles vs KC that Skins didn't recover....and don't be so quick to forget the "Game Changing" HIT he had on Patrick Crayton in the Dallas game, that turned a sure game ending 1st down into an incompletion. |
Re: Who needs to step up?
the defense collectively need to improve their tackling. too many broken tackles have led to huge plays. lemar marshall needs to step it up some. patten needs to help out a little more. dockery needs to become more consistent. defensive line needs more pass rush. happy with portis, hes had a shin injury the past few weeks, he does need to get into the endzone though

Re: Who needs to step up?
I say Warrick Holdman. 12 tackles (9 solo, 3 assist) so far. That's 2.4 tackles a game. LaVar had 2 tackles in....5+ appearances?. Also, during Priest Holmes' screenplay, he was getting blocked out by a WR. As a LB, you should be able to shed a block from a WR, and make a play.
on that play did u see how fast jacobs was....he was keeping right up with moss and passing all the defensive players...he should be on the field more
I thought he was going to run past Moss, lol. and to imagine he did that AFTER making a block to spring Moss and then follow him down the field was pretty awesome. I'd like to see him on some 3wr formations running slants or stop and gos. |
Re: Who needs to step up?
(If LaVar would be placed on the DLine just for 3rd downs, other teams would have to totally readjust to make sure he's taken care of, which would open the door for others to get the QB. The biggest thing is besides Griffin, no one is really getting double teamed on the line.)
I totally agree with this!! Lavar as even a decoy works better than what you are doing now. Illdefined you are right, teams are figuring this system out and if you can't get into the backfield, then you can't get pressure and teams will start to pick you apart. Unless it's Dallas and they give it all back in the last four minutes. |
Re: Who needs to step up?
adopt a run scheme, then there be no complaints about Portis, hey he's good, he's bang up and hes playing hard every game...

Part of the reason why that rookie had a field day against us was because we were going with a silent count on shotgun. That stadium is so loud. So, because of that the tackles are forced to look at the ball instead of listening to the snap count. So right there the DE has the advantage to get around the tackle faster. Another one that got away from Samuels was one where Portis chipped, but chipped him to the inside, and by that time Samuels couldn't get to him. IMO, I think Samuels so far is having a solid season. Him and Jansen both. |
