Re: How Hurt Do You Think Brunell Is?
Ramsey still looked very uncomfortable under center. Almost like he's got something to prove and is putting too much pressure on himself. If he needs to start, though I think the rest of the starting 22 has so much confidence in themselves that all he has to do is manage the game.
If Ramsey starts: Portis/Betts/Rock will have to run for 30+ Thrash will get several catches as his saftey valve. They've always seemed to have chemistry Cooley will get several catches short across the middle. Ramsey's strength is his short game. The O-line will need to pocket protect like they haven't before. Ramsey can't make plays running like Brunell can. Moss will need to be ready to adjust to the ball. Ramsey has a cannon, but not very accurate. |

ESPN just said its a minor sprain and he is day to day

Re: How Hurt Do You Think Brunell Is?
Pat Cohen of NFL .com was just interviewed on the fan, and he was asked what he thought about Ramsey if he had to play? And he said "that he knows quite a few GM's in the league who would love to get their hands on Ramsey, he said theres a higher opinion of Ramsey around the league, than the Skins fan base will give him," he looks for Ramsey to play well for us.

If Ramsey looks good this Sunday, maybe we can not only get a pack of nabs for him, but maybe a 6-pack of soda too. |

Pat Cohen? Is he or was he a great GM or something? I do not know who he is? Should I respect his opinion? The truth is this the first winning team that Ramsey has been a part of since his high school team. That is seven years of losing. His Tulane teams when he was the starter went: 1999 3-9 2000 6-5 2001 3-9 No bowl games. We know how his Redskin teams have done. I like Ramsey alot, he is a great person and a great team player. I like him on our team. But I am yet convinced he is a primetime NFL QB yet. Brunnell led us here, if he is healthy, he should start. Brunnell's Redskins are 9-6 and one victory away from the playoffs. |

brunell's skins are 8-6. give one game to ramsey since he started the first game and ended the last.:) |
Re: How Hurt Do You Think Brunell Is?
Oh come on now, why do we have to start this Brunell/Ramsey thing again. Stop worrying about who lines up behind center and just root for the Redskins.

Re: How Hurt Do You Think Brunell Is?
Gibbs said the MRI showed no structrural damage to Brunell's knee, and that there also was no swelling. That appeared to be their major concern, whether the knee was going to swell. His status is listed as day to day, and that he "probably" will be ready to play sunday.

Re: How Hurt Do You Think Brunell Is?
Brunell hasn't really played well in the last few games; it's been an opportunistic defense along with Portis, Moss, and Cooley that have carried us. Brunell does bring some mobility, but he also has a tendency to look for the first option, and then throw the ball away. Although he did improvise well on the first drive, with the flip to Robert Royal, and then also sidestepping Osi and scrambling to make a first down, it seems that any time he has thrown the ball over the middle the last three weeks, he has been intercepted, or off on his throws. Both of Moss's long touchdown passes against the Giants resulted from his playmaking ability, and not great throws. Even the catch against the Cowboys was a great play by Moss, and not necessarily a great throw. I agree, Ramsey seems to atleast push the envelope and make some throws down the middle, and spread the ball around. I thought he did well against the Giants, by not holding on to the ball too long, and even sidestepping a pass rush and throwing the ball away. Except for the first Cowboys game, I can't say with any certainty how many games Brunell has won for us, and who is to say that Ramsey or any other QB couldn't have pulled out a win for us at home against SD and OAK where we couldn't run or abandoned the run. I'm not worried either way, but I would like a healthy quaterback under center rather than an injured one.
well said!!!!! |

Nobody loves a QB controversy like Skins fans! We could have had Marino in his prime and we still wouldn't have been happy. |

Nice post SF, the problem is if a player is on the bench he is immediatly discarded as incapable, as if brunell is the only one who could run our offense, Ramsey if he gets a start against the Eagles will take any doubt away that he wasen't capable of doing everything Brunell has done and then some, but my thought is here that Brunell if at all possible will be playing against the Eagles, if he doesn't, look out because Ramsey will make believers out of a lot of doubters. |
Re: How Hurt Do You Think Brunell Is?
I was proud to see Patrick have such a good game in relief for Brunell. I'm sure it did much for his feelings of contribution to team/season/etc. It is a luxury today to have any competant QB much less a talented starter and BU. If Brunell can't go I feel pretty good Joe and the "bunch' can hammer out a game plan to take advantage of his talents without much letdown!

Perhaps that's true with a small portion of fans, but I think the majority of us still have faith in Ramsey but ultimately feel that Brunell is still our best option. |
