Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
Thanks for the welcome. Saw the great work and decided I had to join.

Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
By the way is it just me or does the list of players cut look better then the Texans roster?
|
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
I don't know if this has been brought up, but are teams being perhaps too hasty in cutting players? I mean you cut a guy like Will Shields thinking you have to because there's no CBA in place. But then what if a deal is reached?
they must have decided even with a new cba he cost too much to keep. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
Just saw this on ESPN.
"A high-level source with one NFL team told ESPN.com the league has informed teams that any player placed on waivers during the period of uncertainty (which includes players in this story) can be recalled from waivers until there is more clarity about the pending free-agency period." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2351727 Also has Shields been offically cut? "(Rotoworld) Despite a FoxSports.com report to the contrary, Will Shields has not been released by the Chiefs.Impact: Perhaps the announcement will come later, but Shields may at least have a three-day reprieve to see if a new CBA can be worked out." |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
Thanks SkinsFanfrom 21122, I got the Shields story from FoxSports, so I'll remove his name until another source verifies it.
Also, I guess this list may be wrong now that teams can "take back" their cuts. What a friggin mess. Anyone reminded of Election 2000? News story, retraction, news story, retraction. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
working hard to stay confused.

Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
Is everyone on the list cut for sure? If so, and if the CBA does get extended then do you see us going after anyone on that list? I would not mind us getting Buckner, Pryce, Madison, or Dyson as long as the contracts are fair... What are others thoughts?
|
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
According to Foxsports.com the Seahawks have cut Andre Dyson and Jamie Sharper

The only one of those guys I'd be really interested in is Dyson. Dyson is young and would be an excellent nickel corner. Most of the other guys are too old and/or too expensive. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
dyson has had a lot of injury problems lately :/
I'd say the best FA for us is still kampman or a better DT than joe. |

I'd say the best FA for us is still kampman or a better DT than joe.
I know Dyson has had the injury bug, but so did Springs. Plus, the injuries were not terribly severe and Dyson is still young. But I understand the reluctance to root for going after him. I too like Kampman. I've had the chance to follow him, being in Packer country and all. I saw him at Lambeau last season and said to myself, we've got to take a long, hard look at this kid. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
Kevin Mawae is gone....
|
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
The Raiders just released Kerry Collins.
I keep updating the first post in case anyone in interested in seeing a complete list of recent salary cap cuts. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
I think all thes cap casualties should form their own team, maybe in Hoboken or somewhere. They look like they might be pretty good.
Has anyone else notice that no WRs have been cut but a buttload of DBs have. It might be a higher scoring year. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!! Deadline now pushed back to 11:30 PM! This is nuts! Sirius Radio just reported that D. Brooks restructured in Tampa but I. Bruce refused in St.louis and might be our 1st WR fatality!

Yeah, I heard that about Bruce. Unfortunately, he's quite old. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
Isn't it the case that there will be more veteran FA's than teams able to sign them. It's going to be a Soviet style purge of borderline veterans. How many players can Green Bay, Arizona, and Cleveland sign? Upshaw should watch his back.

I think most of the players will be signed, albeit for low salaries. I do see a bunch of older players with higher cap figures being forced into early retirement. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
They got to be talking a bit or else teams would have released more players by now. I know the odds are probably slim and none with slim just leaving but maybe there will be a chance.
|
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
A lot of players will voluntarily sit out this year to get some of that uncapped goodness to come.
I just heard Upshaw on Sirius saying 'There will be football in 2006 and there will be football in 2007 but after that I can't say what will happen. I can guaruntee you one thing, there will be no salary cap'. Can you say 'Happy days are here again!' Barring a strike, we will end up on top when all is said and done! Imagine how bad people will hate Mr. Danny 'Deep Pockets' Snyder when they have to see his smarmy face as he holds up the Lombardi Trophy year after year.................I can't wait. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
I've added Bruce and Arrington to the list.
|
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
ESPN earlier reported Kerry Collins was released. ESPN is now saying that he hasn't so that has been updated.
Does anyone know what T. Prices status is. Like are the Broncos expecting him to return?
pryce is a goner.. the broncs are happy with courtney brown and looking to get abraham |
pryce is a goner.. the broncs are happy with courtney brown and looking to get abraham
brown kinda sucks for a #1 pick. pryce was their best player, but the bronc's were over cap and pryce was over 9mill$ to keep this year. |
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
Add the ancient Junior Seau to the list...
|
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
i cant see anyone wanting a 37 year old (now slow) LB... he may be forceably retired.
|
Re: Recent League Salary Cap Cuts
but how serious was he a decade ago?
