Went with a friend to go see them live bout 6 years ago down at the Norva in your neck of the woods FD. I wasnt expecting much, but was fairly surprised at first by the almost sold out crowd and second by their show. It was pretty tight.

Remember your talking to a guy who played in a country band back in the 80's before country was even kool. Played evey country dive from Virginia through NC.

We actually went to the festival for the cajun food and its a fun ride in the boat. The stage was very close to the water so that was a big plus and then the band cranked up and I really injoyed their music. It was at the Norfolk Water Side which is a quick walk to the NORVA. If I heard correctly it was not their first time playing for the festival so maybe they will play again next year.

Saw them at Hootenanny in OC this July, they were excellent.

Never understood why The Gauntlet never caught on as a "pump up" song after Shipping up to Boston got big, but I get to be ultra cool and say I've been listening to them since they were semi-big (ie 2000).

Also if you enjoy Dropkick Murphys, particularly the Irish themed punk music, I recommend Flogging Molly. Of course if your SUPER COOL like me then you've already heard Flogging Molly, but I don't like listen to them anymore since they like you know like hit the mainstream. I like to keep my music limited collection limited to like sucky bands no one heard of.

Ironically if I had never downloaded Napster in High School I would have never hard of Dropkick Murphys or Floggling Molly.
