Re: Ramsey to the Jets
of course it will. it always does. ESPECIALLY if he does well and brunell sucks it up this year and campbell isnt ready yet.
You're quite the optimist aren't you?
LOL Wishful thinking, probably. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Good luck Pat!!!! Take the big apple by storm!!!
I hope Burnell stays well this year or Campbell is ready! There went our back up plan for a 6th pick.....Bad |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Good riddance. I was never sold on him.
Glad this chapter in the debate over Ramsey vs. Brunell is over! Now let's get back to business and get Jason Campbell ready to take us back to the big dance. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
For some perspective....
Going back to 1961, here are the QBs the Skins have invested a first round pick in: 1961-Norm Snead (spent 3 yrs in DC, 52% comp%, 196 TDs, 257 Ints for career) 1994-Heath Shuler 2002-Patrick Ramsey 2005-Jason Campbell So far, three busts and one that has yet to take a snap. Not a great track record.
Yep, quite pathetic isn't it? In reality, quarterbacks picked in the first round that go on to great success occurs about as rarely for the Redskins as they do for everyone. Not many teams can brag about it. But ... Let's take a look at 1st round draft picks overall since 1991 shall we? 1991 - Bobby Wilson, DT, Michigan St 1992 - Desmond Howard, WR, Michigan 1993 - Tom Carter, CB, Notre Dame 1994 - Shuler 1995 - Michael Westbrook 1996 - Andre Johnson, T, Penn State ... WHO??? 1997 - no pick 1998 - not sure Not until 1999 did we finally get a winner with Champ. Then 2000 with Arrington and Samuels. Then we were back to our old ways with Rod Gardner in 2001. Then Ramsey. Then our first pick (in the second round) in '03 was Taylor Jacobs. All in all, we haven't really had much luck with the 1st round picks in general. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
all the best to Patrick. think the skins organization treated him rather raw considering everything he tried to give, but i can honestly say i'm glad it's finally over now.
i'll maintain that given a real chance with a decent Oline and a non-college scheme, Ramsey has the smarts, arm and toughness to develop into a top starting pocket-passing QB. not a decent QB, but a top QB. hope circumstances stop getting in the way and he gets the real shot he well deserves. for us, glad The Controversey is over. now we just gotta collectively pray ol' Brunell holds up and that Campbell learns quick. dont wanna see Collins out there except to hold the ball for the kicker. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Then we were back to our old ways with Rod Gardner in 2001.
All in all, we haven't really had much luck with the 1st round picks in general.
The ironic part is Snyder of all people, strongly expressed his preference for Santana Moss instead of Gardner - who was Schot's guy. Moss was one pick after, by the jets. And also, it's been a good showing with the top choices since gibbs has been back. With Sean Taylor (over Winslow Jr.) and the solid contribution of Carlos Rogers last year as a rookie (will probably develop as a better cb than Smoot, at his pace). Time will tell with Campbell when he starts. |

But If Taylor is in jail for three years and Winslow picks it up then........... I do remember that Snyder liked Moss more but who's to say we would have been the Jets and traded him away before he had the season he had? |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
it's really over then...
we may be having some more name changes on the board then |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Good-bye & godspeed, Broadway Pat. I think there is upside to your career!
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
my wish for pat is to have a good career there, except when we met the jets
thanks pat |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
I've been one of the more ardent detractors of Ramsey but I hope he does well in New York..
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Best of luck to young Patrick and his lovely wife Virginia. New York is lovely in the Spring.
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
We got robbed, Ramsey is way better then a 6th rounder
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Farewell Patrick, we barely got to know you.
Class guy. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
He's worth more than a 6th rounder!!!
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
He never did enough on the field for me to care about this trade. Good guy, incomplete grade.

I agree. His best games were (1) replacing Brunell this year in win over Giants in MD and (2) his first game ever as a rookie, when he beat Tennessee in an amazing fashion in Nashville.....both of those games he came off the bench, maybe we should have kept him and made him be a backup? Nah, because Campbell's got a gun, too and runs the 40 yard dash WAY faster....but is Ramsey better than Todd Collins? I think so. He's definitely tougher than Pennington, good luck to Pat in the NFC and the JETS will need it this year (5-6 wins for Coles n' Crew)....... |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
RIP OFF!!!! At least a 4th
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
the espn article had it right. if we could have known that Mark would have made it through the season, we could have alot more for him from the Jets during the season last year. But i wouldn't have made the deal then either. So we take what we can get.
And whomever we pick up in the sixth is likely to provide incredible depth on our practice squad before being cut next year. joy joy! |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! That is all I have to say! Watch his impact with the JETS!!!
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
I am very very disappointed, we dealt the wrong guy! (Brunell should have been dished)
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Good luck Patrick, many wish you well. NY can be a tough place to play if you're not productive, the fans and media there are not quite as forgiving as the one's you're leaving. He is however, worth more than a 6th rounder.

sometimes on good weekends I get pot as good as your smoking. but i still try to keep dumb thoughts like yours to myself. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Well I'm sure Mr. Coles is happy. He left and trashed Ramsey when comparing him to Chad. Now he's with a team in the middle of a rebuilding process the Redskins are pushing for another playoff run. Chad got hurt and now Pat's coming to town to throw him the ball again. I always liked Patrick Ramsey because I think he's a class act. I hope he has a nice career from now on, hopefully he won't end up in Batlimore though. When he sees the Skins, I'll hope cheer for the worst though.
HAIL !!!!! |

Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Well, I wish PR the best, but I hope he doesn't become the next Brett Favre. I think the guy has a lot of heart, but if Gibbs says he is not the QB for the Skins, then he is not the QB for the Skins. He may go on to have a nice career, just not with us.
Good Luck Pat................ |

Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Is it too early to start a Todd Collins vs. Brunnell controversy?
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
I though PR showed a lot of class in the way he handled himself during the last season. Most other folks would have gotten pissed and vented to the media. PR did not. And now his rep is intact and he's in a position to compete.
No way we could trade him last year--we couldn't be sure about Brunnell and Campbell was not ready. As for the 6th rounder, we were gonna cut him anyway, and we took what we could get. What really hurt was all the dang QBs that flooded the market. So it goes. SOmetimes you've gotta sell, no matter what the market is doing. Good luck, Pat. |

We should have held onto Patrick until Draft Day at least, if all we were getting was a 6th. We might have gotten at least a 4th round pick for him, he's way better than other backups like Ken Dorsey (eek), Tony Banks (remember him??), & Jeff Garcia (questionable) and could start for the Lions, Texans, Raiders, 49ers, Browns, etc, etc.... I guess that #6 mean Buges has his eyes on working out a ton on OL for the G and T back up spots, along with the other undrafted O-lineman that will be invited to camp. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Is it too early to start a Todd Collins vs. Brunnell controversy?
Controversy? How can there be a controversy? Collins is clearly superior to Brunell! The stats don't lie. Collins has thrown just 19 interceptions in 11 seasons while Brunell, that turnover machine, has been picked 102 times in 12. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
I heard Coles was campaigning for Ramsey when Pennington got injured last year. He will be happy now at least. Maybe a few years down the road we can reaquire Ramsey and he can take us to the Superbowl!
I wish he and his wife the best! Ramsey fan 4 life! :) |
