Re: Undrafted free Agents
carolina signed OG Adam Stenavich (he got a 20k signing bonus, which is odd for a UDFA, i guess there was competition).
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
with 20k he can buy a miata

its 2 am i don't think they're signing UDFAs right now plus JGibbs gotta get his sleep in he's an old man. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
they've been signing them, but so far only the jaguars and vikings have released names. the other names are mainly agents or players leaking info or whatnot. I'm hoping we get greg threat, since we missed on a lot of goodd guys already.
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
but u think they'll release any names before say 6,7 am?
but u think they'll release any names before say 6,7 am?
no way, maybe one gets out through the player or agent talking to someone, but even that's doubtful at this hour. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents

what site are you looking at?

Re: Undrafted free Agents
should we really go after martin nance? i think our wide receiver core is pretty solid as it is. and plus we are gonna have to cut one or two. Right now we have moss, lloyd, randle el, patten, thrash, and jacobs. We are gonna have to cut either thrash or jacobs, or possibly both.
I agree that we are set a WR, but I would like to see us bring in young big WR and have him learn and wait in the wings for a couple of seasons then bring him I mean every one knows that it takes most WR's time to learn this way he would be ready in a couple of years from developing while waiting to play... |

Re: Undrafted free Agents
guys i'd still like to see signed (in order):
chris reid, phillips, threat, ross, quillen. chris reid is a SS/OLB that has great speed for the position (4.5 @ 220, 3.7 shuttle, 6.8 3cone, 38.5" vert, 21 reps) anwar phillips CB, best corner left, and the only one that's good in run support left (that doesn't have learning problems). limited upside due to some speed concerns, but a fairly polished player and the #2 rated UDFA. greg threat is another cane, SS, great production in 2004 (136 tackles), but not great measureables. needs work on technique and recognition. great against the run, and could really help on special teams coverage units. pat ross is the best OL left. 4.99 40 @301 pounds, but he doesn't really play that fast. he's a very consistant player that isn't prone to mistakes and would make a great backup. drouzon quillen (WR) 6'6" 218lbs 4.5 - solid worker, coachable, good off the line and great ball security - no fumbles in his career. best left and after a year on the practice squad and some pre season work, he might be a good guy to sub into a red zone package. needs to add a bit more bulk. |

Though he seems to fit in our cover 2 scheme. He's probably pondering over a lot of teams right now. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for Phillips. I think he'd add some solid CB depth and I'd feel good about him playing occasional nickelback.

I would think so too. Although admittedly I don't know much about Kenny Wright. Personally, watching Anwar play, I was shocked his 40 time was that slow.......he certainly didn't have any problem keeping up with WRs when I saw him play. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
anwar ran a 4.45 at a campus workout a year or two ago... and yeah, kenny right is somewhat like anwar in that he's top speed isn't amazing, but he's great in the nickel spot.

Giants | McPhearson to show his speed
Mon, 1 May 2006 12:33:56 -0700 Bill Free, of the Baltimore Sun, reports New York Giants seventh-round draft pick DB Gerrick McPhearson is the fastest player in the history of the University of Maryland and may be the fastest player in the draft. The report claims McPhearson has been clocked at 4.21 in the 40-yard dash. his combine time was 4.41, so i wonder how much merit this story has... |

Redskins to Sign Eight Undrafted Rookies By Gary Fitzgerald Redskins.com May 1, 2006 The Redskins have agreed to terms with eight undrafted rookie free agents, the team announced on Monday. Among the players on the list is another University of Miami Hurricane: tight end Buck Ortega. He joins second-round draft pick Roger "Rocky" McIntosh, running back Clinton Portis, wide receiver Santana Moss and safety Sean Taylor as Hurricanes on the Redskins' roster. Also on the list is former Maryland Terrapin wide receiver Derrick Fenner, who grew up in Hampton, Va. Fenner was among the attendees at the Redskins' local college workout on April 7. Derrick Fenner # Manaia Brown, DL, Utah A 6-3, 310-pound defensive tackle, Brown was a two-year starter for the Cougars. Last season, he recorded 31 tackles, with three for a loss, and 1.5 sacks. He is regarded as a strong, wide-bodied run-stuffer. # Derrick Fenner, WR, Maryland Fenner, who grew up in Hampton, Va., is a 6-0, 193-pound wide receiver who was a two-year starter for the Terrapins. He had 34 catches for 417 yards and two touchdowns last season. He was born on Dec. 25, 1982. # Jasper Harvey, OL, San Diego State Harvey is a 6-3, 300-pound lineman who played center for the Aztecs last season. He started every game for San Diego State after sitting out his junior year due to a suspension. He hails from New Orleans. # Spencer Havner, LB, UCLA Havner, 6-3 and 239 pounds, started 13 games for the Bruins last year and finished the year with 99 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions. He was a semifinalist for the Lombardi and Butkus Awards. Shoulder and knee injuries in 2004 may have played a part in him not getting drafted. Havner played outside linebacker in college, but some scouts have projected him as an inside linebacker in the pros. # Chris Hawkins, CB, Marshall Hawkins transferred to Marshall from North Carolina. The 5-10, 183-pounder started every game last season and recorded 28 tackles (16 solo), five tackles for a loss, seven passes defended and one forced fumble. He also has experience as a kick return specialist. David Lonie # David Lonie, P, California Lonie is a 6-6, 220-pound punter who hails from Australia. He turns 27 years old on May 6. In 1996, Lonie competed in the Pan Pacific Games as a decathlete and pole vaulter, representing Australia. Last season for the Golden Bears, Lonie logged 61 punts for a 41.9-yard average. # Chijioke Onyenegecha, CB, Oklahoma Onyenegecha, 6-1 and 215 pounds, became a full-time starter last year for the Sooners. He had 31 tackles (18 solo) last season, broke up seven passes and had one interception that he returned 63 yards for a touchdown. He was a second-team All-Big 12 selection. # Buck Ortega, TE, Miami Add another Miami Hurricane to the mix. Ortega is 6-4 and 227 pounds. Last season, he caught seven passes for 112 yards, with a long of 43, and played a key role on special teams. Ortega attended Gulliver Prep, the same high school as Redskins safety Sean Taylor. The Redskins expect to invite more than 70 prospects to the team's Rookie Camp on May 5-7 at Redskins Park. (Note: the Rookie Camp is closed to the public.) These players will participate in the camp on a tryout basis only. It's possible that more undrafted rookies will be signed to the roster after the camp. |

Re: Undrafted free Agents
I'll put up profiles on them soon... that list doesn't include the RB or other LB they've been reported to have signed.
If anyone wants to know, only 2 of these guys are good talents: spencer havner (LB) Chijioke Onyenegecha (CB) - surprised, unlike anwar, word is this guy is a bit dim (learning scheme etc). he's more of a project then some others, but a quality pickup. |
