Re: This is pissing me off!
that is what really disturbs me personally. I completely understand that coaches don't want to show to much, but it is really discouraging that what they are showing is so damn piss poor. Cooley dropping balls, Carlos getting yet another PI, Brunell making bad throws, Rock not taking advantage of running lanes, the D-line getting no penetration, Jason Campbell getting sacked three times...
it is down right scary.
The second string O line is an embarrassment. We are in big trouble if we have to rely on them. |
Re: This is pissing me off!
I thought their play was vastly improved last night. Molinaro actually looked decent when he was pulling.

He had two holding calls... I wouldn't call that "vastly improved". |
Re: This is pissing me off!
Meh. I thought some calls were iffy anyway, one of them was total BS. I mean Collins looked to have decent time to throw most of the time.
|
Re: This is pissing me off!
Wasn't he sacked 3 times?? And even more for Collins? Our O line depth is in big trouble.
|
Re: This is pissing me off!
Also remember this, is isn't like we would be putting in 5 backups at o-line. I KNOW there are at least 2-3 backups we could plug in and be fine on the offensive line.
|
Re: This is pissing me off!
okay...it has been said several times but...there is absolutely no need to worry...Sept 11 our (real) offense will be unleashed upon the vikings and they will not know what hit them....total 100% faith in gibbs, saunders, and williams is a must between now and sept 11....but i assure you it will be aaaamazing!

Re: This is pissing me off!
All I ask is that Fred Smoot gets his ass burned.
And then set his country music award on fire. |

Even when first sting was in Brunell just missed a sack becuase Fulhioa(whatever his name is, got beat). I didn't like it. This isn't the HOGS of our past SB teams. I think I saw ONE play that seemed perfect and like it was quality O line (SB quality). |

Then here is the question I present to you and the rest of the people who are scared. Has the rest of the league improved so much during the offseason that a 10-6 team that won a playoff game can't block all of a sudden? Or was it that OUR players just decided that were going to be horrible? It's one thing if we were the Cardinals or 49ers who had arguably one of the worst lines in the league. Our line came back intact, other teams didn't improve that much and we didn't regress. |

Jansen and Samuels didn't play either |
Re: This is pissing me off!
What is scary, as some of you have mentioned, is that all of the comments are about wait until the first stringers are in there all of the time. Well guess what, someone will get injured. It is inevitable and when it happens, what scares me is how fast the Skins quality drops. I mean if any of our 5 starting O-line gets hurt, we are in trouble right now. If Portis gets hit early and gets a stinger or something we are in trouble. If Brunell only throws to a 50% completion percentage, like he has in the preseason, we are in trouble. I feel like every other team knows who we are. The Skins aren't slipping on on anyone this year. I don't think the Skins can win with anything but their "A" game. Their "B" or "C" game is not going to win games this year.

Re: This is pissing me off!
Wipe the slate clean, fellas. Preseason is over. I have faith in this coaching staff, but we'll see on the 11th.
Good thing about last night: no injuries. |
Re: This is pissing me off!
I'm a diehard Redskins fan. I think Joe Gibbs is a God, but our football team is about our players and I just feel like they don't care all that much and it is making me nuts. Is it ego? Is it over confidence?? Is it injuries? I understand pre-season, but it's the game before the BIG game. There should be some increase in the level of play. They should be showing signs of growth, of being pumped up a little more..etc. I haven't seen it. I’ve seen the same thing every pre-season game - poor play. Our first string O line needs to be sharp, perfect, and on it. Letting a Raven past you to get to our starting QB... beat BAD by a Raven??? Dropping balls left and right, missing tackles, endless penalties because the only way to stop the other team from making a play is to hold a guy or interfere?? Come on. It's pathetic. I'm pissed off. Joe Gibbs deserves a better performance, he asks for a better performance and he gets hardly any effort. I don't see HEART. Where are our SKINS?????

Re: This is pissing me off!
There have been so many things said by the coaching staff and even by people on here that should make us have faith. We do have the best coaching staff in the NFL period. People made reference to Brunell having a smirk on his face when interviewed after the Pats loss. Fauria was interviewed and told everyone to calm down and note that this is preseason. Saunders and Gibbs have both said they are taking preseason as just a practice in game speed. They have only shown 2% of the play book. In practice behind closed doors we are firing on all cylinders and that is what matters. Why should we come out and pull a Spurrier and run the score up on teams in the preseason and show everything we are capable of, just to have teams watch film and figure out how to defend it. Look at the stats for the preseason of our receivers in 4 games:
Moss - 3 catches for 30 yards Randle El - 3 catches for 49 yards Lloyd - 3 catches for 42 yards Cooley - 3 catches for 25 Do you think we really utilized these players? We had them in, they showed us a few things and then we went ot the back ups. Brunell was throwing to Espy and Buck... this is not who we are... But those averages of those four above look pretty good. Imagine what it will be like for a real game. And least we forget, we saw one series out of Portis and then it was Betts. Heck Brunell threw less than 10 passes a game? We have to have faith and realize we were watching a bunch of backups and Gibbs and company did not want to risk having our playmakers/stars get a season ending injury.. Have faith Sept 11 we play for real and we are going to look sweet. HTTR |
Re: This is pissing me off!
I'm excited about this team and think it's going to have a huge impact this year!

Hess, I think your sentiments are shared by many on this very site and to some extent myself. But you have to consider that the NFL season is a very one long one -both physically and emotionally. I think this is a very reflective and thoughtful group of players. I think they've come to a place collectively where they are really emphasizing on what's going to count when December rolls around. I would be shocked if this team comes out flat on 9/11. I think we all would have liked to have seen them execute better, but now they have to focus and prepare. Focus and prepare. Focus and prepare. I think those two things alone will have has all over the Vikes on next Monday night. Also consider we have a healthy CP who will chomping at the bit. Unless they just on't show up, I can't see the Vikes handling us on the opener. |

Re: This is pissing me off!
A lot of transit fans too because this is a transit area. The talk good about the team when all is going well, as soon as things get a little rough they jump ship. Bandwagoners, fairweather fans. I've been doing this a longtime.
Actually, the test of a true fan is whether they hang around when the team loses. I find that when things are going really well, I personally don't have much to post about here at the Warpath. When they're winning, I just sit back and enjoy, but when they don't look too good, preseason or not, I'm going to call them on it. Many times, people who criticize the team's performance are either labelled fairweather/bandwagon, but in fact, if they're taking the time to type away, explaining their frustrations they obviously care don't they? Otherwise they wouldn't be here. |

I don't mean to put words in your mouth here. But the implication is that those of us that don't get all worked up over a preseason don't care. That only true fans complain. It's the same assumption that people make about the players and coaches. Because they're not crying on the sidelines, getting angry during post-preseason game press conferences there's this feeling that they're not trying to win, that they don't care. And of course, that's not true. |

:biggthump
Sorry TAFKAS..... You of course are on that list as well... Now if we can get the rest of the Warpath to follow you three and myself everything will be fine. It will be great when these posts are no longer in sight and we are all talking about how amazing the last game was and how much we are kicking everyone's arse.... |
Re: This is pissing me off!
I'm hoping it'll be that the Redskins will be registered sex offenders after the violating they'll give the Vikings.

Well, let's not forget, it was Joe Gibbs that first starting calling the players' effort into question during the postgame press conferences. Very often, I find that people who criticize the team are called bandwagon fans. My point was to illustrate that if this was the case, then why are they here? They wouldn't waste time posting at a fan site complaining about poor performances if they are bandwagon fans. That statement can in no way be an indictment of those that refrain from bitching and moaning after a suck-ass preseason. I wouldn't say that those who dismiss the preseason don't care ... living in La-La Land maybe, but sure, they're caring people. |

Looks like SI is drinking the preseason Kool-Aid. They dropped us to second behind the Cowboys.

I'm done with the Redskins. I'm spending my Sundays elsewhere. Beleive me I am well aware of what a true fan is, and many of them are labeled bandwagon/fairweather because they're not verey familiar with the history of the team and piggy-back on others who do. True fans "STAY loyal, dedicated, and committed to the team regardless, and don't flip-flop all over the place just depending on how the team performs from time to time.
