Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
No but seriously guys, as much as its not in my opinion for the best of the team for CP to get dealt , why did we bring in TJ? Because we could yes, the deciding factor will be to watch if we sign him long term. Nothing I was told made sense. Cp is the face of the Offense we need him that is not disputable. Hopefully he stays and we win many Rings but we should be more concerned then the downplaying has shown. I dont want to hurt feelings or cause a stampede but I am worried over this for real. I would love nothing more than to have been proven wrong in time. The worst thing that can happen to a team is change of bodies. Come week 1 we will be kicking ass and lets just go from there. There is still time to heal wounds.

Chutes and ladders or is it candyland.
Trick question, Candyland only applies to post-season. As for your Portis' concern, I'll say what I said when we first got Duckett. I think last year when Patten and Thrash got hurt we were forced to give major playing time to Jacobs and Jimmy Farris and that really hurt us. But we got by. But this season isn't about getting by. So when the offseason began, Gibbs went out and got not one but two WRs (El and Lloyd) to be sure that he wouldn't have that same depth issue. So I think when Portis got hurt, Gibbs looked down the bench and saw Ladell and Rock and said to himself "That ain't gonna work (high pitched giggle)" so he went out and sought some depth. Because, like I said, this season isn't about just getting by. |

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
His email address suggests otherwise.

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
So you guys don't believe that Gibbs tells his neighbor all about the team's confidential plans? My neighbor, George W Bush, tells me about the U.S.'s secret plans all the time.
how did u go to clinton portis' birthday party
I work for a company that does casino parties and he hired us for his family party. There were a few Skins there...mostly the RBs and WRs. Everyone was really nice and his family is super cool. His dad was cooking ribs and fed us. The players were totally cool. It was just a chill party for his best family and best friends on the team I am guessing. One thing to note is that Rock Cartwright is totally small. The dude isn't even 5'6" but is built like a f*cking brick sh*t house. Absolutley like a 90 inch chest. A total monster. Very impressed. As for Clinton he showed no effects of the shoulder injurty and in fact, as stated before, did several lifting of heavy chairs that would presummably prove his shoulder is doing nicely. I am no doctor but unless they decide they don't NEED him then I don't see him sitting. Maybe he gets limited bangs but he'll play. He's a gamer anyways. Oh yeah his house is ricockulous. We were in the game room which is the bottom floor of the guest house. Needless to say it was ginormous and I didn't get to see the real house in back. |

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
Birthday parties are fun, unless Steve Irwin happens to die on the day of your mom's and she's too upset to enjoy the Clinton Portis t-shirt I bought her. Wait, what are we talking about?

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
I'd rather Portis be at 100% for the cowgirls than be 90% for the vikings. I think we have enough with Betts and Duckett to beat the Vikings and ensure that Portis comes back when he is 100%.

Chutes and ladders or is it candyland.
What the F*********!!! I guess in the land of Chutes & Ladders, Candyland, and candles in the ass, there is no salary cap????!!! PORTIS WILL NOT BE DEALT BECAUSE OF THE SALARY CAP IMPLICATIONS. So seriously dude, stop making shit up as if you have some sort of idiotic inside information on it. Any idiot with a modicum of knowledge about the cap knows Portis will not be dealt. If we deal him this year, it's a $10 million cap hit. If we deal him next year, it's a $8 million cap hit. He's not going anywhere. So stop being a moron. :censored: |
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
Hi Guys,
Washington Post has Portis 50-50. |
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
Ok guys, when will we start to hear how Clinton Portis is progressing? Do we have to wait for the injury report on Thursday, or do you guys think we will hear something before then? I really don't want to see Betts or Ducket starting for us this week. As if the Skins don't need enough of an emotional boost to get ready for the Vikings, having Portis in the starting lineup would be great!
Gibbs said in his press conference that Portis worked out yesterday and the day before. I really think he is fine. Gibbs also said Springs was running yesterday.. (good news!) |

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
what a random thread. Warpath needs to *focus* maaannn
first off, there's absolutely no benefit to saying to "portis will play" except to the fantasy guys. you say 50-50 to the press to affect the vikes gameplanning. second, MJG, if you're gonna hint at some inside stuff around here, you HAVE to be more forthcoming about the source. especially when it concerns one of the most important and favorite skins players in recent memory. |
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
MJG, dude did someone use your log-in. This is just coming from like way out in left field.

Could we have another Tit-face situation brewing? I really doubt the team is going to come out with any news on whether or not Portis will actually play because it keeps the vikings on their toes if they think he's playing. In fact, I wouldn't really get my hopes up even if Gibbs comes out today adn tells the media something along the lines of "there's an 80% chance he plays." I hope he does if he's ready, but I think we can beat them without him. As long as he's ready for dallas I'm happy. |

Working out and actually practicing are two different things. In order for Portis to play Monday, I think we need to hear that he was "practicing" on Thursday and Friday this week. I know everyone wants a healthy Portis for the Cowboys game, but when I hear things like that, I think you start overlooking teams. I think the Vikings will give the Skins all they can handle Monday night. Anyone that does not think that is kidding themselves. Brad Johnson is a gamer and they will come in just as fired up as the Skins. If he is 90%, I want Portis on the field. I don't think Betts and Duckett can do the things Portis can. Gibbs said yesterday that not having Portis would not change their "scheme" for the game, but I think it changes the playcalling, and that hurts the Skins. |
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
Anyone remember the last time BJ faced this defense?
9/12/04: 24 of 37 for 169 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, sacked 4 times. |
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
And they've only improved since and the Vikings have gotten worse in the WR department.
|
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
I'd rather Portis, of course, but having Betts in there doesn't worry me. He ran for 118 yards the last time he faced the Vikings at FedEx two years ago. Froze my butt off that day!

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
Ok, I started this thread, so I am going to somewhat hijack it for a moment. It is kind of on the same subject however. I have Portis, Warrick Dunn, Thomas Jones, and Ahman Green as my Fantasy Football RBs. I need to start 2 in Week 1, who do I start?

Ive got Portis, Ahman Green, Frank Gore, and Rudi Johnson. I can start 3. I didn't want Ahman Green in there cause he's up against that Bears Defense. At the same time Portis is questionable. I went with Portis. |
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
I'm benching Portis for either Bush or Betts week 1 because I don't see him playing much if any.

Paul, If Portis is 50-50 by Sunday it scares me to start him, so I am like you and would probably go Dunn and Thomas, but if Portis plays, who would you pair with him, Thomas Jones @ the Packers or Dunn @ the Panthers? |
