Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
I just heard on the radio that he's already been released from the hospital. I find it kind of hard to believe that they'd already let him go home if he took that many pain pills, even if they did pump his stomach. I would think that they'd want to keep him for at least a day or two just for observations. But I'm not a doctor, so who knows.
I don't see what could be false at this point. EMS reported he was still trying to stuff pills in his mouth after they arrived. They had to wrestle the pills away.
I just heard that, too. That puts in more in the "cry for attention" than "cry for help" book, IMO. |

You should know better - you have to have faith in the doctors, just like the coaches. Doctors know what's best, so drop the shorts and bend over. |
Exactly. Depression is a very serious issue, and when you get so depressed that suicide seems like the best option then whatever jersey you wear or whatever team you root for is irrelevant
Very true, and I do feel for the guy if he truly is that depressed. It's very sad that he has so many gifts yet he is so tormented and unhappy. He has been very self-destructive and that is a clear sign that he has been depressed for a long time. |

That makes more sense. I'm getting my news from Elliot in the Morning, so it's not the most reliable of all time. |
Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
and no anti-depressents are not a violation of the substance abuse policy. if they were half the league would be suspended.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
Obviously, we don't want to jump the gun on this one but it's possible once the dust clears, the Cowboys might place on some type of 'inactive' status for a few games. But again, that's not the main concern right now.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
With T.O. exposed to the daylight for the true nutcase he is, who will take his place as leading practitioner of Jackassery? Hmmmmm.........T.O. Shockey.............how does that sound???????? What teams are lining up to take the next flyer on him next? We can rebuild him, we have the technology. Yo' Bill, have a nice day.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
This is insane. TO has always been a nut job ut this shows he really needs some serious help.

BSB, you've missed around here. Did you see the thread??

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
Yeah I saw it when I came over here. I still come here everyday but yesterday when i saw it I was in the middle of something and couldn't comment. Put a smile on my face though.
Yesterday, I was laughing about the allergic reaction. Saying Sean Taylor was just finishing the job. Now, this is rediculous. If it is true and he wasn't trying to get attention, think if he got the opportunity to follow through with it. This is really sad. TO really needs to check out and spend time checking into a ward. |
Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
yeah, it woulda been really sad if he'd died--just terrible ... I hope he gets well soon.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
I actually felt bad for T.O. before this attempted sucide. I watched a documetary on his life on ESPN, it was talking about how he is paranoid, had a tough childhood, etc. I mean I don't think that justifies any of his action, but come on, the entire world hates this guy, he is severely emotional, suicide for a guy like this isn't a stretch. I suggest all you guys watch that documentary, it shows that T.O. is really messed up in head.
And by the way, who brings you guys the most up to date T.O. news? Of course yours truley. I was first with the T.O. signing at Dallas, and now with this. Keep it locked on HooSkins News for T.O. coverage! |

We all knew that T.O. would do something dramatic in Dallas.
I hope he gets the help he needs. He is still a young guy. |

I've been following TSG for a very long time. I am not aware of them ever incorrectly posting or identifying a document. As a source, they are as solid and reliable as you will find. Also, during the Dallas PD presser, the spokesman essentially confirmed the document by saying he didn't know how it got out. |

This is just a tragic story. I hope he recovers and gets help.

He does have an incredibly inflated ego, it almost has to be artificial. If he was just looking for media attention, it worked. I hope he gets help if he truly needs it though. Strange story. As for the report on TSG, many police cars now use laptops to take reports rather than paper forms. The cop may scribble some notes onto a notepad but then will enter the report into the laptop when he gets back to the car. TSG has always been reliable and it doesn't have to be written in pen to be an official report. Notice it does say "NARRATIVE 01 SCREEN" on the top. It's an automated report. |

One story... During the game against the Packers when he was with the Niners he had dropped numerous balls. He kept going back to Steve Young and begging him to not lose confidence in him. Finally when he caught the game winning TD he broke into tears and for the next several years thanked Steve Young every day for not losing confidence in him. I repeat: He was so insecure that he thanked Steve Young EVERY DAY FOR 3 years or something like that. |

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
Reports are that Owens is scheduling a press conference in a couple of hours and he is expected to explain things.
But even IF it was a misunderstanding and he really DID not attempt suicide. If it is proven that he did take MORE than the prescribed amount of the pain meds, HE COULD BE SUBJECT TO THE NFL SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM. In other words, if the suicide subject is put to rest there is still the real possibility that he could face a SUSPENSION by the league for substance abuse. Even if he manages to clear this suicide thing up, he will still have a lot of explaining to do to the league. |

i will admit that I once said that i wished t.o. would just disappear, but not like this.
As i said to a quote from DBOYZ.
"the big blue melt down" From a class organization to a trash organization. Why to go Jerry Jones!
I don't see how this reflects on the Boys at all. Stuff like this has never been even remotely an issue with him. If you want to fault them there are plenty of other reasons but for crissake realize that clearly there is something a little more important going on here. They guy is a world class douchebag. There is no one who would dent that. But he is also a human being who does charity work among some other positive things. I hope this is just a blip on the psychological radar and we can go back to bashing him fairly for things that aren't as important. |
Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
I have to admit the only reason I even care about this story is the fantasy implications on my team.
I'm not saying I wish the man harm, but I really can't believe the gushing I'm seeing over this guy. I mean, this is the same guy that has caused nothing but problems for any franchise stupid enough to give him a contract right? This is the same guy who called his QB (Garcia) gay right? The same guy that routinely shows up his QBs on the field? The same guy that called out McNabb (a "teammate")? The same guy that has been a locker room cancer everywhere he's been? Honestly, I just don't see any reason why I should care about T.O. any more than the thousands of other people in this world that try committing suicide every day. If anything, shouldn't I care less about T.O.? After all, T.O. has proven time and time again that he's a jackass. I don't know, I guess I'm just a heartless bastard. |
Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide

Yah, a human who in his "human" capacity has been a jackass for years. I guess his transgressions against other "humans" are all forgiven because of this? |
Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
The people who project themselves as the most happy, comfortable, and confident are very often the ones that are hiding insecurities; just because T.O. is a football player doesn't mean it's any different. I still don't see why so many people hold a grudge. This whole idea that since he has amazing ability, he should use it and not waste it or do whatever he wants with it. I guess T.O. isn't a real person. He's just a robot that should go out on the field regardless of what he's thinking and play football, whether he enjoys it or not.
Just remember this sort of thing happens every day: an individual that appears so confident or egotistical, who appears so happy with his life, who seems like nothing can hurt it, can be totally crying on the inside. Evaluate that with other people that you might hate who seem that way, and maybe you can see how sad it all is. WE as people always look at Celebrities and throw away any thoughts of their well being. I do it all the time. I mean really, how many times do you take the time to really consider Russel Crowe's mental health? Or how about Darrell Green's? Its almost an assumption |
Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
The story grows, and is now in SI:
SI.com - NFL - Terrell Owens attempted suicide, according to police report - Wednesday September 27, 2006 11:25AM I prefer to believe no one here wished this on T. O. It appears from these reports that the man needs help. |

What trangrassions?? And yes, if there are transgressions isn't he worthy of forgiveness? And this isn't directed at you per se, PSU...but why are we suddenly judging T.O. Especially since we don't know the whole story. But whatever. |

As a player, I hope he can't suit up for the Cowboys for a long time.
As a person, I can't say I'm glad he tried to kill himself because I'm not a psycho, but I sure as hell am not sorry about it. I could give two craps if that dude lives or dies. That's the God's honest truth. |
