Re: With Brunell on the bench...
now with brunell on the bench, what are you going to be talking about?
How about our over rated offensive line? Yes Brunell needed to be replaced but the line has been underperforming. Pass protection has not been real good. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
What are we going to talk about now??
Who is the next whipping boy? We're now taking nominations.
lord knows we'll find something... at this rate i guarantee it'll be drafting a new QB if JC sucks. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
we should just hire an actual whipping boy...8 million for 4 years, 10 million signing bonus
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
toss a dart at the line up...
and nobody has forgotten the woefull Defense..how can you...with every 3rd and long that we surrender...or loss... |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
looks like the next whipping boy is his blood relative....GTripp
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Randy Thomas.. That guys sucks donkey balls. He's the worst guard in the NFL.
Ok, I don't have anyone but I didn't want to choose one of the usual suspects. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
time to change your sig paintrain. As for the new scapegoat, I blame Jason Campbell. That guy doesn't have his priorities straight.
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
I confess to bagging on Brunell but he had my support for the most part, with campbell all Im really hoping for is some sort of return on our investment and making the games be a little more fun to watch. If he throws some picks throwing it down field so be it, as long as it's going downfield. This season has been painful to watch with so few highlights that we as fans need something..hopefully this is it.
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
oh yeah and my vote is we blame man boobs
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
vinny and saunders are still around, so there's no need for nominations yet ;)
the oline and defense are options, but it's harder to find a whipping boy when no one is looking much worse than the rest. maybe carlos "can't catch, can't cover" rogers? seriously though, it should calm down now that the change has been made and the team is looking more towards 2007 than 2006. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
2006.
That Guy hit it! The scapegoat is 2006! |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Simple, next in line is Campbell and how bad he is, and how we grossly overated, and overpaid to draft him, and then turn that pick right back on Gibbs.
Or, just in case Campbell lights it up the topic will be, how Gibbs delusional loyalty towards Brunell cost us the season. Don't worry I have thing's covered from every angle, thanks for your concern though.:D
shocker that you would have all the negative angles covered |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Jason Campbell's GONNA' SUCK and it's Gibbs, fantasy land, no talent, draft pick tradin' fault, for paying ridiculous contracts for lousy FA's when the real talent is free!
...................................I love you Patrick |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
After the embarrassment and humiliation we all have felt at work, in the mall, and in our on homes with Redskins haters when deserve to be pissed off at what we have seen this year. It was almost a repeat of the 2000 season when we ushered in Deion, Bruce, Mark Carrier and any other washed up player. Just when we have a good chemistry and identity, someone we drop Omar Stoutmire, Ryan Clark, Walt Harris and wonder why the defense is shit. I mean none of these guys are shut down corners but hell they never gave up this kind of yardage. I'm complaining about Greg Williams and his inability to correct the problem that this the secondary starting with Archuleta.

Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Good or bad, coach gets the praise, or blame. It's hard for me to believe, that those guys would have that kind impact in any way. Your not talking about ST, or Griff. Who know's?

Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Wow, there's a lot of PMS in this thread.
First off, I would "think" that many of us have tempered expectations of what Campbell is going to do. He could totally light it up, but I think many of us aren't expecting that much. It's the fact that we KNEW Brunell wasn't going to get any better. Campbell could honestly come in and do MUCH worse, but at least we know that we've seen all we could see from Brunell. If we're looking for a new whipping boy, we of course can look at the defense. This week is a great week to help a sputtering defense. Maybe GW can remember why he used to blitz and maybe, just maybe, do that a bit on Sunday. A new quarterback can inject a lot into a team. Even if the defense screws the pooch again, it's possible Campbell can outshoot the Bucs, something we couldn't expect Mark Brunell to do. Also, when you look around the league, you look at these young QBs. They spread the ball around. You can look at any aging QB in the league and just see that you can't teach old dogs new tricks. Brunell, thanks for the Monday Night Miracle, but it's time to move on. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Oh poor mark Brunell. I feel so bad for him. He fought his guts out every week and played smart for this team. Get over it, Mark Brunell is washed up and deserved every bit of criticism he got. I don't cry for Mark Brunell, he can rot away in his mansion and never be heard from again for all I care.
Brunell has held this franchise back for 3 years now, and it's time for us to groom another QB to eventually be the face of the franchise. The revolution will be televised.
MB does not make the decision of who starts and who sits. So if your going to blame MB for holding back the team you have to look at the coach who hired and started him. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Holy Sh.., I would stroke out if JC comes in Firing like Elway. I'll always have my dreams
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
For all of the complaining about the D, doesn't it seem like an offensive improvement (even a small one, like a touchdown a game in division games) would allow the defense to attempt more pressure and less 10 yard cushions.
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
And maybe they wouldn't be on the field for an entire half!
If we put up more points, GW can take a few more chances on defense. It isn't like he's been holding teams to ten points or anything, but if he believes that we can make it up on the offensive side of the ball, you'd think he'd go for some more pressure. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Well, this thread shows that we aren't going to be short of options when pointing the fingure of blame!
Now that Campbell is getting his chance and we are looking forward to next year doesn't it make the lack of opportunity he had in the preseason games even more ridiculous? |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
AA is the new whipping boy. what a waste of cap space.
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
What makes anyone think we have seen the last of Brunell? I think if JC really flops (which I hope does not happen) MB will be back as the starter.
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
new whipping boy? it's gotta be the mods. now that Campbell is starting, the rogue members will start their crusade to disrupt and corrupt the mods.
|
What makes anyone think we have seen the last of Brunell? I think if JC really flops (which I hope does not happen) MB will be back as the starter.
Why would they do that? Is it going to save face by padding Brunell's stats for the end of his career? |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Gibbs likes MB.
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Gibbs likes winning more
Gibbs likes winning more
there have actually been times this season i wasn't so sure about that. like when [He Whom Shall Not Be Named] came back out the last half in Philly. |
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
If Cambell comes in any start throwing bombs to Moss, Randle-El and Lloyd just like Rypien threw bombs to the posse Monk, Clark and Sanders, we will all be singing "HAIL TO THE REDSKINS" and won't have any whipping boy. Some may ask what took Gibbs so long to pull the trigger but long time Redskins fans know Gibbs is very loyal and gives his veterans every oppotunity to succeed and if they fail its their own damned fault.
|
Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Remember when Jay Schroeder came into the game after Theismann went down and right off the bat he hit that deep pass to Monk? That'd be cool to see something like that right off the bat from JC. This Sunday that will be almost 21 years to the day by the way.

Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Gibbs has never been in Washington without QB controversy. It follows him everywhere. So this is all kind of fitting actually.....

Re: With Brunell on the bench...
Let me beat the horse one more time and get one last jab in on MB. I think it was the 2nd quarter of the game when mb was blitzed from his left side. The blitzer had lined up w/ B Lloyd. He left lloyd and came thru almost unblocked. B Lloyd ran 5-8 yards and turned around wide open. Brunell had already conceded the sack or threw it away. When the blitz comes a NFL qb throws where the blitz comes from. I can't remember when Mb made that throw. One example...

I remember that play too, Lloyd was right there wide open and MB was too frazzled by the blitz to find him. Saunders talked of taking advantage of the aggressive Philly D and that's exactly what MB could not do. If Campbell can hit some deep throws and stand in there against pressure he's going to be just fine. |
