You can stick a fork into this season. It's over for the Redskins. The Skins would have to run the table to even have an outside chance of making the playoffs. Switching quarterbacks is not going to solve all their problems. The defense still hasn't created any turnovers or put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. With no significant draft picks next year, the future doesn't look good. They need to break this cycle of trading away draft picks for over-rated free agents. It will take a 2-3 years of mediocre seasons to build the team back up.

I am excited to see what Jason Campbell can do. I wish Gibbs had made the move sooner.
Bulger as a backup... that is really hilarious.

Hey why not just trade for Peyton and put him on the bench too!
It's no more halarious than the person that started the rumor. It's not likely he'd consider coming here as a back up, I think we all would concede to that, but that's the only way I would consider having him. Him saying no thanks to that would be what I would expest. Nothing gained, nothing lost.

only if campbell is a bust , we should look at leftwich or seneca wallace

why not look at a starter instead of a backup in that case? i mean, those guys are okay and pretty young, but neither one is nearly as good as bulger or green...

When has logic ever been a factor in our front office?

Joe is too nice of a guy to admit that the door has slammed shut on Brunell's career. He really wants to believe that he can go back to him, but hopefully once we get a look at Campbell he'll see just how unrealistic that would be.

well put, I think the bigger question is what they'll do w/MB next season. I foresee a disagreement between Gibbs & saunders on this. Wouldn't be surprised if collins & mb stay, maybe w/restructured deals. We need to bring in a rookie & groom them as a backup.
Did someone on the warpath once say something about MB being a coach here eventually?

I think someone pointed out that we would save more $$ by letting him go than we would by keeping him, so the writing appears to be on the wall.

i still think brunell will be a good backup. his numbers ($) don't seem too bad. maybe he can restructure.

Isnt it hilarious how we just let trent green go after 5 years of going throught the redskins system, and now we are speculating about giving up picks for his 3rd string backup in St. Louis at the time. Very typical, however, that aside, bulger fits our recievers perfectly, I wouldnt disagree with the move if campbell doesn't work out. When it comes to QB, you gotta get a quality player, every other position you can take chances.

I really hope brunell doesnt back campbell up next season, cause then he'll be rested, and come in at some point and look great, and gibbs will consider him again, we need him out of here. Even if he was a good backup.

the redskins lost trent green because at the time he was a free agent, the team's ownership was in limbo, and snyder or john cooke could make any monetary choices without the league office approving it first!
