Re: So now what at Guard?
[QUOTE=diehardskin2982;283834]what happened with Davis's meeting did it go well?[/QUOTE]
He now a Cowgirl....so the draft looks like the best way to go now. There is still a few others but that pool is drying up fast. Who would have thought that Guard was going to pay so much! |
Re: So now what at Guard?
I hope this is teaches Snyderatto and Redskins Management a lesson that Free Agency is not the way to go to get talent. Keep all of your draft picks and live by the draft and cheaper FA's. Free agent salaries are way off and out of control. I think there will be several teams with buyers remorse this season. Dockery was way overpaid. I am glad he is someone else's problem (overpaid) then ours. We are still stuck with Archuleta's crazy contract.

Re: So now what at Guard?
What about Luke Petitgout?
He played guard early in his career and I would say a slightly better player to Dockery (unlike Davis who I thought was slightly worse). He is coming off a fibula break and might be tempted to go to a division rival. Could be a case where the Skins take on some risk, save some money, and perhaps reap some benefit from a division rival--similar to the strategy that the Giants and Eagles have used on us with former players. |
Re: So now what at Guard?
What about Mike Gabdy [Bills] ,Cooper Carlisle [Denver] or Chris McIntosh[Seattle]? There are some not so bad players out there and not paying so so guys like Davis that much cash!
|
Re: So now what at Guard?
Carlisle is interesting since he knows the Denver zone blocking system. I don't know how much of that Saunders calls for Portis--but it is something to consider.

It would be great to get him[carlisle] if he fits after Denver tock Mark from us and went on to win two super bowls!

Re: So now what at Guard?
not paying davis over 7mill a year is a great non-move. the guy's lazy.

Agree, too many good guards out there to overpay Davis. If we wanted to pay that much we should have just resigned Dockery. Finally a great non-move by our front office. Can't believe I am saying this but it looks like we are actually playing it smart in free agency this year. |

What now at Guard?
We pencil Pucillo in at LG until a better option comes along via draft or otherwise. We'll be fine. |
Re: So now what at Guard?
todd wade
|
Re: So now what at Guard?
wade if possible... i mean, at least he was here last year. pucillo's the next option if wade goes elsewhere or we can't trade down for a 2nd rounder to use on an OG.

Re: So now what at Guard?
whats up with david baas of the niners ? is he even starting ? if not lets trade for him. he can play both guard and center. was a stand out at michigan and has the ideal weight of 315 to 319. can pull and run well. he would be worth a 3rd or fourth. if the 49ers would trade him for a pick next year or maybe even david patten and a fifth then i would do it.

yeah, trade more picks. if he's not starting on a not-so-great OL, the skins probably don't need him, much less for picks. |

i agree. i never wanted him here. he was only so so last season on a terrible line |
Re: So now what at Guard?
Lets all be happy that we are through the first couple of days of free agency and we haven't given away any draft picks yet -although I am starting to get a little nervous that with all the guards getting picked up we might panic just like in the Duckett trade and make a stupid move. So far I am impressed at how the FO has held their ground and not thrown a load of money on any of these average guards, in a year or two at least half of these guys will be released because of under preformance and their terrible contacts.
