lol, thanks. I just like how Betts doesn't have to be the center of attention like Portis seems to do.
he is the star on our team attention will follow him no matter what |

Yeah, but his costumes and his dog fighting comments don't help.

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
Although I don't think Vick is going to see any jail time over dog fighting and at worst get a stiff fine, I have to admit actually seeing Portis on video finally, he comes off like an ass. Betts is more Gibbs style anyway, just a frigging tank that can pound the rock.

Sanity has been on the short end of the stick for years, but he is trying to make a comeback. |

well hopefully sanity get the better edge |
Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
I don't really see many spots that are wide open. I could see Smoot and Rogers have some good competition for the #2 spot and I wouldn't be surprised to see Smoot win out. Rogers needs to pick up his game, perhaps having someone breathing down his neck will help.
Rocky has the OLB job unless he really stinks in training camp. I think the coaches really like the idea of Marshall as the backup since he's so verstatile and can fill in at inside and outside. |

Who cares about holding your tongue when you can't hold on to the rock?
Betts is more Gibbs style anyway, just a frigging tank that can pound the rock.
This statement is just flat out wrong. Betts looks like he should be a tank, but looks can be deceiving. He's only effective when he has space to run, which was why he looked so good at the end of last season. The line was creating holes that you could drive a truck through. Portis runs harder, is faster, and is a better overall player. The only way Betts becomes the starter is if Portis goes down with an injury. |

Betts definitely is not the power back that he appears to be. He's not a pile pusher, he's more of a one cut and go kinda back. He needs space to be effective, it's no surprise he had the kind of season that he did last year especially down the stretch. The offensive line was just blowing people off the ball and creating huge lanes. |
Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
once rogers gets burned he will be replaced, unless he shows drastic improvement in handling the williams Defensive schemes, smoot has already succeeded on this defense
Disagree. Rogers is solid just needs to relax and play his game. He's a better tackler than Smoot and more physical. Not sure who is faster? If anything I would work Smoot in with Springs to keep him fresh. |

And I have had my fingers crossed for 5 months now that whatever the Redskins were doing with their line continues this September, because, as you say, those holes were gaping. I'm almost afraid to even think about the posiiblities. Makes me dizzy. |
Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
i picked Marshall vs. McIntosh. you know the skins coaching loves Marshall's versatility, and because McIntosh is such a high pick they want him on the field. i can see the skins using some defenses with all 4 linebackers on the field together

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
if Washington is really as hurt as some people seem to think I wonder if Marshall will have a chance to take over his spot. I don't know if Marshall has ever played WLB but he seems versatile enough to do well there.
Washington is obviously a leader for our defense and when he's healthy he's one of our best players but I feel like he tends to miss on a lot of plays. I remember getting pissed at him more than a few times last season for missing an INT or a tackle, but so was everyone else. If he's slowed by injury I would think that Williams might keep him on a shorter leash and give Marshall a chance to show what he can do. |

Last weekend durn the Beach Blast our local chanell had an inteview of him and played a highlight real of his play last year. There where several plays were he was hit behind the line by several players and he ended up making a good gain. They also had several plays of him fighting for more yards pushing guys back. I tought as you did but these clips showed that he can make big plays when he does not have a hugh hole to work with. I also thought that last year he showed some speed which I didn't think he had. Is Portis a better overall player? Yes I say so but I also believe that Betts could be a starter on allot of teams in the NFL and we got him for a very good price. |

A highlight real can make anyone look good. That's why it's a highlight real. Either way, the majority of Betts success last year was based on the line blocking their collective asses off. And I'm not saying that Betts is completely untalented. I actually think he has better vision and patience than most backs in the league. I just strongly disagree with the idea that he's this hardnosed, pile moving tank. |

What makes Betts more of a "Gibbs style" back except that a lot of people have decided to annoit this upon him because they cannot remember what happened two years ago? Clinton Portis runs between the tackles as hard as any runningback in the league and he holds onto the ball more often (statistically proven not annoited). I am a bit tired of hearing how Betts is better suited for the offense. That statement is just completely wrong. Gibbs cannot stand turnovers and Betts is a turnover machine. Portis does everything that Betts does except he is faster and more explosive. Bottom line, Portis is the better runningback and NFL teams start their best players (except when Dale Lindsay is your coach). |

I am fine. Trying to buy a house. I am curious to see how much guaranteed $ that Landry gets. Since we drafted him, they will try to lowball him. |

Yeah, I am still saving. I will be in the market after next tax season. They have no choice but to try and lowball him, we dont have much money to play with. |

I know it is hard, but I am determined. After I pay all of my bills I keep 500 in my checking and put everything else into savings. Whatever I do not use out of my checking goes into savings the following payday. My wife does the same thing. We each have that allowance, but it is all we get for gas, haircuts, drycleaning, entertainment whatever. |

I cannot go more than 2 weeks without getting it tapered. It annoys the crap out of me when I see hair touching the ears or the back of the colar. I do not get a high n tight or anything, I let it grow out on top. I have to keep it neat thats all. My youngest brother has his hair down past his shoulders which I don't mind if you keep it groomed, but for heavens sake take care of it and at least make it look presentable. |

that is funny |
Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
I am actually very surprised that so many people think the best training camp battle will be Smoot vs Rogers. AT this point, I feel Smoot is almost twice what Rogers is. Rogers would have to be amazingly productive to make that a competition.

Fox vs Landry et al. I think Fox won't go away easy.
oh he is going away early fox is an average player
And that's the same reason we let productive guys like Pierce and Ryan Clark walk. Fox filled in nicely for us last year. If you watch the games as much as I do you would know that. No offense 'Quake. The FO may be itching to upgrade several players who wasn't drafted in the first round. Which makes no sense. More accurately, they would rather keep Fox as a special teamer and look to aquire 'first round talent' regardless of cost...
Judge a player by his game, not by where he's drafted. |
