I don't recall reading about Bill Clinton growing up with a silver spoon in his mouth, as an example

Ditto Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Abe Lincoln, U.S. Grant. And those are just the Republicans. The people's party, The Democrats, must have loads of politicians with humble origins... Actually Andrew Jackson is the only one I could think of (besides Brother Clinton). Jimmy Carter was a cracker from Georgia but he lived pretty well compared to most of his neighbors-peanut subsidies you know. Kennedy was wealthy but as an Irish Catholic was never accepted by the "good people" of Boston. That must have been a terrible hardship. Likewise FDR was well connected but he had polio - and Eleanor. Poverty would have seemed downright alluring to him at times I suspect. At any rate I don't think there is any evidence that commom people make better leaders than rich people. |
Re: Senator Caught Trying to Solicit Sex in Men's Room
thats because once they start rising with power, they start forgetting, and playing that same old political game. it takes a hell of alot of people to get someone elected to any high ranking office. then, once elected, its pay back time, qualified or not

Re: Senator Caught Trying to Solicit Sex in Men's Room
This guy is a total loser. I mean, what kind of a sick fu#k goes in a men's room in an airport, and tries to get it on with another man??? Then you vote against gay laws?? It kind of reminds me of the movie American Beauty. Dude should just resign and go back to Idaho.

Did I say "every politician"? But in the spirit of pulling crap out of nowhere, his wife had a huge silver spoon in her mouth. |

Re: Senator Caught Trying to Solicit Sex in Men's Room
How much money you have and whether you grew up wealthy is irrelevant. What's important is what's in your heart and more importantly your actions. All that is required to become a great leader is the ability to appeal to and affirm universal human qualities.

Re: Senator Caught Trying to Solicit Sex in Men's Room
i disagree. its easier to make decisions for everyone, if you have past experience, or have walked in their shoes. no way Mitt Romney makes good decisions on the lower class. he doesn't know their needs or wants. or what its like to not have food, or money for food

I know there are a few that didn't. I was just speaking in general. I actually know too much about Clinton and that drives me crazy. I went to college in Arkansas, and had to hear every little thing about him. It was annoying. |

I'm pretty sure Clinton did though, as did plenty of others I'm sure. |

This a little more than I would care to know about the homosexual underworld, but it's pretty funny too:

It's called empathy. You can't experience everything for everyone, especially in such a far-reaching position as President. |

no, but if you grow up poor, like president Clinton has, you seem to be alittle more qualified to make decisions that affect the poor. i agree with empathy, but how much of that is going on in this administration? if your not sure, look at New Orleans |

I wholeheartedly and with prejudice disagree. Consider the grave implication of your position. Ignorance of the plight of the poor is no excuse. You can be wealthy and still understand the struggles the poor must endure and have the desire to help them (i.e. Bill Gates). Coming from a poor background can be a plus but that alone doesn't give you legitimacy nor does it make you a better leader. Words backed by action makes you a great leader weather you're from a poor or wealth background. As for Mitt Romney, he has so many flaws besides being rich it isn't funny. |
Re: Senator Caught Trying to Solicit Sex in Men's Room
I'm not saying being poor makes you a great leader. but being able to draw from those experiences help you make better decisions in regards to the poor. but i do like your Bill Gates analogy. if he got to run the country like he ran Microsoft, the united states might be a better place

Not as good as his supporters say, not as his bad as his detractors. Domestically, very strong. Internationally, well that's another story. Overall, I give him a solid B |
