Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
Ok lets say this is very legit, why play Brunell this game that much? Why play him a quarter and then let palmer and others get reps? Doesnt make much sense, and I highly doubt right after the game the Skins decided to first start talking to the Seahags. I am sure if this is a real trade then they must have started talking to them days ago.
The gameplan tonight seems to make no sense if this was a potential and looming move... |

I was kidding. I am the happiest guy in the Greater Washington region. Someone tell GDripp. He can tell the Seattle message board how incredible Touchdown Jesus is. |

No one is denying what are seeing, we agree that it being reported by one source. Believe me I felt the same way as you guys when I "broke" the TO to dallas deal on this website, I called in to the local dallas paper that broke it and personally talked to the guy who broke the story. He was confident TO was with Dallas, but I think it is important that you get more than one source. I didnt have more than one, therefore people questioned and rightfully so. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
In my opinion they never should have let Bramlet go. Jordan Palmer is so green and so far from being developed that he's no good for this year.

That's the key part of a "trade" or any "exchange". Also, you spelled my name wrong. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
This feels legit to me. If it was Mitchell that got the scoop then it would have come from one of his old coaches - perhaps Don Breaux. This would make it more likely because, IMO, the only way it would prove to be false is if Snyder and Cerrato were trying to foist this on Gibbs by creating a media avalanche with the leak. Mitchell has no relationship with Snyder. I doubt they are on speaking terms. I think some deal will be coming.

I see where you are comming from, but I do not make stuff up for the sake of it. I do not think that a not so well known field reporter would risk everything on a bogus rumor. But hey, you can be led to water but, you dont have to drink. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
I was listening to Triple X (via 100.3) on the way home from Olney (split the doubleheader...shoulda had both), and Bram Weinstein, before going on the team bus, said that the staff is flat out denying it. However, it sounds like Seattle is interested in a veteran backup, so you begin to wonder (thanks Jake) if they are worried about Hasselbeck after his surgery, and do not have faith in Kordell Ste...I mean Antwaan Ran....I mean Seneca Wallace.
Pure speculation says 5th or 6th round pick for Brunell...but from the sounds of it, Carson Jr crapped the bed tonight, so maybe the Skins were interested and backed off...or the Skins wanted to let Brunell know before he's being shipped elsewhere... |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
Well my only question is still why even play Brunell more than a couple series if we know he will be traded? Wouldnt we instead want Collins and Palmer in more to get reps.
I mean, do we want to boost his value by letting him play or something? It still doesn't make much sense. Now if they went straight to Palmer or Collins right after JC's drive then this story would fall much better in place. Not saying you are wrong angry, but I am just confused. |

Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
triple x reporting that channel 4 said Brunell played his last game as a skin and brunell is open to seattle and Bram Weinstein says Redskins are emphatically denying the trade
|
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
Comcast now confirms an "inquiry" earlier Thursday from Seattle. Brunell has been told nothing. Redskins, Wapo denying trade ...developing
Perhaps there is an an internal disagreement over what to do about Seattle's "inquiry". If this is Vinny's baby, Gibbs could still shoot it down. |

No way would we get a 3rd for Brunell, A 5th at best...but I think the point that the deal may have died due to palmer make a ton of sense. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
Did anyone see brunell get interviewed after the game. The guy said "I want to wear this jersey still, I believe in what the Redskins are doing... and I want to be a part of this team" (paraphrased). I really feel bad for the guy.
I really love Brunell as a human being, but as a QB, I'm well finished with him. Godspeed Brunell. |

I love Brunell, why would they ask him that question? Wtf is up with that...

Yeah I looked at Seahawkshuddle.com and they have nothing yet. I am too lazy to register and post it up there.

I like Brunell, solid back-up and class act. But I really hope he's traded. When he struggled here just about everyone rushed to heap blame on him (even for things he shouldn't have had to take the blame for) but very few people are ever willing to give him credit for anything. He deserves better than the treatment he's gotten in DC...and I'm tired of reading threads about him. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
Yeah but after they played that interview Brett Haber said he talked with Brunell privately and Brunell was enthusiastic about playing in Seattle because of his U. of Washington ties. Haber said that Brunell was basically "politically talking" by answering the question but not really answering the question.

Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
Yeah he's taken more than his share of the blame from the time he's been here in Washington, but the only way it will stop is when he gets traded. I wish he got treated with more respect for everything he's done for us.

Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
So I just posted an iquiry thread about it in the Seahawks forum Seahawks Huddle - Home of the 12th Man :: Home to see if they know more about this. I gave them the link to the channel 9 article.

Probably better at this point if he goes, but I still can't see Collins doing much. |
Most teams would be F'd if they get down to their #3 QB
Yeah, but we'll be f'd if we have to rely on our #2! If this trade is true, we are in serious trouble if Campbell goes down. Brunell is a great backup, Collins is not. (nor Palmer) |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
I hope it's at least a 3rd rounder, otherwise it was a dumb move.
|
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
In my book Brunnel is worthless. If the Skins get a seventh round pick, that would be good. A can of Coke...
It doesn't make sense to carry two high priced over-the-hill backup quarterbacks. I don't like Collins either, but it looks like he has won the backup competition. If someone is willing to give a draft pick up for Brunnel and get him off the books, jump on it. Give Palmer clipboard duty and let him learn the ropes. He may develop into a good prospect. Third string is the perfect place for him. If you put him on the practice squad, another team can claim him. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
Thought we werent supposed to post things like this unless we had a link. im sure they are saying we are preparing to sign vick. this is ridiculious. IMO
|
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
i have no problem with letting go of Brunell for a 4th or 5th rounder (the pick we will lose based on Kendalls performance). Lets be honest, if Campbell goes down and brunell has to start, this season is a wash anyway. Why not get rid of brunell now and build for the future...not to mention our usual tactic with draft picks is to blow thru them for mediocre trades. If we accrue a few more picks here and there we may be able to put them to good use later or at least not hurt ourselves when we burn thru them in pursuit of a ridiculously overrated FA.
If its any less than a 5th (or maybe a 6th) i think its not worth it b/c we aren't getting enough back and we are unnecessarily helping another NFC team. Imagine if by some ironic twist of fate we had to play Brunell in the playoffs. I could completely envision us getting burnt by him b/c of the bad karma. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
After watching tape tonight I don't know how true this rumor could be... Palmer looked worse than if Jeff George was out there. To have Palmer active this season would be a HUGE risk unless you were willing to sign someone like Aaron Brooks, Chris Simms or Jeff George when/if Campbell gets hurt.
At this point I think the Redskins need him and I don't think he should be traded for less than a 3rd rounder. He's an immediate backup! He took a pay cut why we wanna trade him? Perhaps it's Seattle looking for insurance. I'm not opposed to moving him, but it must be worth it. Extra DL or OL. |

Seriously, Brunell is gone after this year anyway, and he's not enough better than Collins at this point to make dealing him a serious downgrade. Take the draft pick (btw, it's not going to be a third rounder you crackheads) and move on. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
All I can say - I hate the Brunell hate (and I particularly hate the implication that b/c he is a christian he gets special treatment from Gibbs - seems to me more than a little anti-religion bias always gets mixed in with Brunnell).
We overpaid for him initially. That's not his fault. He gave us solid, not spectacular qb'ing most of the time, helped us to the playoffs, and killed Dallas on monday night. STOP WITH THE HATE. If he goes, I wish him well - I think he got treated like shit b/c so many fans were enamared of Patrick "I never learn" Ramsey. Best for him to move on. |
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
If Brunell gets traded, the cap hit from his horrendous signing bonus gets accelerated. That should eat up ~$4M this year. . . . And anyone who expects that Seattle would give up a first day draft pick for a washed up backup in his mid-30s is smoking dope. The pick would be no higher than a 6th, and would likely be conditional (i.e. based on playing time).
|
Re: Rumor: Brunell heading to Seattle
I like the idea of trading Brunell, we all know his play has and continues to fade, and for $ reasons. It would be a good move for the future, even though Palmer looked bad bad bad.
Does anyone else feel bad for Brunell? He always comes across as a genuine, great guy. When he came in after Campbell got knocked outta that game last year, a lotta people boo'ed him. I thought that was really f'd up. I didn't understand it and was pretty embarrassed as a fan. |
