Behind the scenes, yeah that's the rumor. I mean I've heard it from enough reliable people that I would call it more than just a "rumor"

Though I will say that I've had a couple of people tell me that it's not so much that he doesn't know the playbook but that he refuses to abide by it. He believes his talent (and all these people insist that talentwise Lloyd is probably our best wide receiver) is what should dicate how we use him and the plays should conform to him, not vice-versa.

Bottom line is he can't or won't do what's asked. Everyone else is
It sounds like BL is the LaVar of WRs. Like LA, he does not want to be governed by the playbook and has too much talent for his own good.

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

Lloyd is officially the #4 WR now and he's clearly well on his way to being cut next offseason.

Caldwell should be ready for some snaps after the bye as the #3.

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Randle El getting put at the #3. I don't want to over-work the guy. I think he could be a lot better on punt returns with fresh legs and would be able to play better longer. I think by week 9 we should start seeing Caldwell at #2.

I don't see Caldwell overtaking ARE.

ARE has earned the job and has really played great for us so far.

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

This team managment i mean, has a huge ego! They pick up players that everyone in the league says wont fit, trade away draft picks to get them and then pay top dollar to have them ride the bench. It happened to Arch now its happening to lloyd. The same happened to Lavar! I think Llyod is an arrogant piece of crap too, but we paid for him, we should at least see if we can get some type of production out of him.

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

Here's what CP had to say about Lloyd on the John Thompson Show

"When Brandon Lloyd want to be a dominant player, he can do that," Portis said. "It's just getting the coaches to buy into that and him proving it that he gonna do it on a consistent play after play, that he gonna do whatever they ask of him. And the sooner he can get on the field, the better we'll be."

I agree, if The Receiver is not getting the ball then how can we truly evaluate him?

Our pedestrian offense, coupled with an apparent lack of chemistry with Campbell, is playing a role in The Receiver's lack of production. Throw him some balls and we'll have a better clue if this perceived debacle of a trade is true or not.

In addition, here are some interesting current stats from other (IMO "decent") receivers:

M.Muhammad--4 catches
G. Jennings--4 catches
D. Bennett--4 catches
L. Evans--5 catches

redsk1 09-27-2007 03:21 PM

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

Look Lloyd is not as bad as some make him out to be. He caught, what about 60 catches w/ SF and they were horrible w/ no other wr threats. Now i don't know if he's got an attitude problem or not. Let's face it though he doesn't get alot of opportunities for whatever reason.

I don't know the reason, it could be a # of things. But hey, I'm not smarter than our coaches so i've got to trust them on this thing. I'd like to see him do well, but i just don't see it here. He's got talent, so i don't know. Keep in mind as i've stated before i don't believe that Jerry Rice would put up great #'s in our system where we are offensively right now.

If Lloyd doesn't become a good producer, this could be one of the biggest FO blunders of our generation though. I'd hate to see it come to that.

redsk1 09-27-2007 03:25 PM

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

I didn't read all of the posts before i posted above, but if he doesn't listen to the coaches than why don't we deactivate him and cut him in the offseason? Why have him around the team at all? He's getting paid alot of money to do the things they tell him to do not the way he wants to do them.

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

Brandon Llyod has been a dissapointment since trading a 3rd and a fourth round draft pick in the 07 draft last year to get him. He also hasnt seen anywhere near the playing time a player you just traded two draft picks should get. Hes not bad either. playing in SF with no other WR to take pressure off him and an inexpirienced QB throwing him the ball he still averaged 60 catches and a couple of jaw dropping catches. Attitude problem or not two draft picks and that paycheck is more than enough reason to play him. With Moss out this is llyod chance to redeem himself. As of right now we cant cut him because of the cap penalty. If he cant perform hell be cut at the end of the season nuff said.

And is anyone else pissed at carlos Rogers! wtf! he plays very inconsistently and gives up big plays like its his job. he couldnt even tackle plax at the goal line. Not to mention hes always being flaged. he is not worth the 9th overall pick in the 05 draft ill tell you that much. especially with merriman and demarcus ware sitting there! He was drafted off his potential after having a great senoir year. Not proven at all.

WTF? CR played pretty big football for 3 GAMES. He was being thrown at CONSTANTLY in Philly and @ home with Miami. I d'ont remember him getting flagged in the Giants game but if he did, so be it. He fucked up twice in the Giants game and they were both plays to Plaxi-Glass. Yeah, given, he missed a takle that screwed us hard, but so did ST. Now I'm saying that makes it okay, but considering the corner play of a LOT of other starting corners in this leauge, I'd say he's made DRASTIC leaps and bounds over last year. In 3 games this year he gave up 1 big play, the Plax TD. What about last year? Every fuckin game he would drop picks, get blown the F off the line and he looked clueless. He has no picks this year but, he's been playing pretty good in my opinion. Now passing on Ware and Merriman, I dont know. Both of those guys seem like, uh, real "character" guys. Ware just strikes me as being ruthless and Merriman is a juicer. You would really have to turn back time and re-pick to think about it because EVERYTHING would have been different.

Anyway, point is, Carlos Rogers doesnt suck. He sucked on 1 play. You cant judge ALL his play by him sucking at that moment. You'll see. I said it last year that CR would have a much better year than last year and I believe so far, he hasnt been bad. That one play. Thats it. Take that away and what do you have? A shutdown corner that hasnt allowed shit on him in 3 games. Thats what.

I agree. Carlos has done well this year. He did miss a couple plays in this last game, but no one is perfect. That Plaxico TD was something that made everyone jump up and scream at him, but he's done well this year and one of the reasons our D is looking a lot better this year.

Cowell 09-28-2007 09:49 AM

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

I believe I said this before in this thread, but Plaxico isn't a little guy. He is a big, physical receiver. Carlos is not a tackling machine he is a cornerback. Carlos was there to make the play, he just couldn't make the tackle Plaxico basically threw him to the side. The way I see it is, if Sean Taylor couldn't make the tackle (he got juked out by the same move somehow) then how should we expect Carlos to make it?

redsk1 09-28-2007 03:34 PM

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

Carlos has played pretty well so far this season. I think we need to chalk the Plax TD up to Plax making a great play. Plaxico is a really good reciever thats big and fast. He makes alot of Db's look bad.

You are one of the first one's to nail that. Whenever the Skins miss a tackle or fumble the ball or get stopped at the goal line, we immediately chalk it up to bad play on our part. We never give credit to the other team making great plays as if they don't come to play.

That was a damn good play by a very good, albeit sometimes inconsistent, wide receiver. Plax made a couple of good moves in space with a pass that was on the dime. That's all there is to it. He made a great play - game over.

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

Now, back to B Lloyd. B Lloyd, the number 1 hip hop artist on the Redskins, is a talented receiver. His problem is, he doesn't agree with the game plan or the receiver coach. I know he hasn't done anything so far with the Redskins, but don't turn your back on B-boy Lloyd so fast. When he decides to put his differences away, he is capable of being a top number 2 receiver in the league. In closing, B-boy Lloyd needs to remember, that you can't sell a million records with the whole DC metropolitan area hating your guts.

"Cowboys fan?" so what, we are all here to ask intelligent questions and respond in like. I am a member of a Cowboys forum and have discussions with Eagles and Giants fans as well as Redskins fans. The reason I joined this site is because I live in the DC area and TV stations here obviously show Redskins games and I am a fan of football before the Cowboys.

I know Lloyd is a gifted athlete and used to make circus type catches at SF, but like many talented players that come here, he has disappeared. Football is not like baseball where you can stick a good bat in your line up and have a better chance in winning. Baseball has one player at the plate, and to an extent, offensively baseball is an individual sport. That is not how it works in football. Dan thinks he can buy talent, which is true, but what he really needs to buy is chemistry.

Re: Where the Hell is Brandon Lloyd?!

My whole thing with NFL contracts and the players union is this: How is it that you can sign a multi-million dollar contract, and not EARN your money? Why is it that a team will be penalized for a player who does not perform up to their contract? And by me saying penalized, I'm referrig to salary cap hits that a team would get for a player not performing up to that contract. This is why I feel that unions in general, are bad for buisness, and bad for the country. A player could essentially ruin a teams salary cap status and future, just by being a bad apple. I believe if you sign a contract with certain guidlines and expectations, and you do not meet those, you will no longer be employed at no consequence to your employer.

While your arguments makes some sense, it lacks the point of view of the other side. Not having a union is just as bad. Now, imagine Lloyd being a good apple and plays well. Little later, the Redskins want to get rid of him, so they do not pass the ball to him and say he is not "performing up to his contract." No one can prove that they are not passing to him intentionally. That way they can get rid of older and aging guys for young talent and not have to pay them anything because they will not be "performing up to their contract."

The unions and laws are there for a reason.

BL was "kicked in the shin" a couple days ago & skipped practice yesterday. Guess it's a recurrence of his shin splints.

I don't see him getting ANY snaps this game. Even w/2 new guys.
Both Caldwell & Keenan are hungry to prove themselves, which is a welcome attitude for the team. Loyd is done, just a matter of time.

Yeah I remember when I heard that last night on Sportsnite, I was like WTF, kicked in the shin? Who misses practice for that?

Its been about 5 years I would guess since I got kicked in the shin but isn't it like 35 seconds of real bad pain and then your fine?

Also I was thinking that the coaches reported it like that to embarres him.

Updated Injury list:
Moss - groin
Smoot - hamstring
Taylor - knee
Lloyd - kicked in the shin

If I was a player I would have left shin guards and some Midoll by his locker
