Thing is, with this loss to GB, it makes you wonder how good is the Skins offense. Would they have lost 3 in a row if was a decent team defensivley, not the Lions?
I agree with the first part. If we're the only team to beat dallas and they go 14-2 they still win the division, so we need them to rack up a couple of extra losses. But I don't agree with your second paragraph. You guys were quick to defend your record against people who said you only beat crappy teams because you have to play whoever is on your schedule. You can't start saying crap like "would they have lost 3 in a row if was a decent team defensivley, not the Lions" because the fact of the matter is that we did play the lions. There is no logic in that kind of thinking. I have to wonder what your record would be if you didn't have romo, owens, barber, and witten. You may have lost 6 in a row! |

dallas D did not play well, don't pretend they did.
Did not force any interceptions while brady threw the ball a million times |

I say that because it must be frustrating having such a good D and be crippled with the kind of offense that took the field yesterday. I was merely asking, was it the Lions having a bad D or the Redskins offense was actually that good? Did they improve from the second half against the Giants to what they were against the Lions and then got worse yesterday? Or have they been the same and the Lions game was, well, the Lions being the Lions? |

Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
Against the lions we seemed to play a lot better. The o-line was opening big holes and the running backs (esp. Sellers) were running really hard. Also, the receivers weren't dropping half the passes, which is what happened yesterday and in the second half of the giants game. Whether that was because we were playing well or because they sucked is beyond me. I know that in the second half we controlled the ball and really wore them out, so that played a huge role in the win.
You're right, the offense has not been playing that well but there could be a number of reasons for that. I guess the chief reason would be the overall health of the o-line. We've been missing our starting right guard and right tackle for almost the whole year, so our running game has suffered greatly. On top of that the receivers seem to be dropping more passes than normal but I'm not sure what's causing that. The most frustrating thing about the Skins over the past few seasons, for me, has been the inconsistency. We'll have a great defense and almost no offense one year and then the next we'll have a top notch running game and a bottom feeding defense. I just hope that this year the D will keep it up and the offense will get healthy and start playing the way they appear to be capable of. |
Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
I want to see the Redskins D being in there for over 65 plays and see what they will be able to do. Part of that had to do with the D not being able to get 3 and out. But the offense did not help them out. They could not keep the ball for too long.
We'll find out in two weeks what our D can do against the Pats. Dallas is lucky to have only 1 loss. |

The Brady hating at this point is really ridiculous.
The guy put up good numbers with average WRs for years, now he has a great WR corps. and he's putting up great numbers. He has the rings, the wins, and now he's putting up the insane numbers that only Manning was doing previously. |

And I'm not making any excuses for them or excusing their mistakes because of the weather. What I am saying is - they adjusted very poorly to the weather, to say the least. This is something they need to correct; to me, the most important thing they need to correct. If they adjust well to the weather conditions in that game, they would have cut down on the mistakes. If they cut down on the number of mistakes they made (especially late in the game), they win the game. That's how you learn how to win games, correct your mistakes. |

Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
Bit of a silly debate here. Tom Brady will have to start sponsoring dog fights AND bet on nfl games to not make the hall of fame at the rate he's going.
On a more positive, perhaps delusional note; Dallas has a bye after next week's Minnesota game. The vikes are no pushover, but it would be a pretty major upset if they beat the pokes. I'm dreaming of an upset! And while they're at home on their bye week, they watch the Skins upset the Pats! |

Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
What is this debate about? Brady is a HOF qb. End of story. Is he a bitch for not taking big shots or is he intelligent enough to know that his team needs him standing upright to be successful...? I'm putting my money on the latter...

Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
All I have to say after watching the game is that we can count on 3 automatic losses between the two teams. With our decimated O line and Santana out to lunch this season, no way we beat NE and we will be swept by the Boys. It sucks but that is how it looks as of now.

Do you actually think that in our present state that we can beat the Pats or Cowboys? I mean if we came out of GB relativey healthy even with the loss I could have some hope. But we took some losses there that might take a bit of time to heal and a bitch of a AFC road trip coming up. I just don't see it JW.

Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
I was referring to the thread title, really--it was supposed to be a thread to make s feel better! ;)
As for the injuries and our chances, I think our D can keep us in it with lots of teams. And they seem to have found a good D against the pass, which is the main weapon of both dallas and the Pats. But, needless to say, we're going to have to stop the run against both these teams--not a real worry against detroit or GB. We'll see. My guess is a split against dallas, and a loss against the pats. But win the games we should and 10-6, 9-7 wildcard is very much in reach, even with a patchwork line. I know this team has blown games in the past. But I feel better about the team this year for 2 reasons: one, Campbell, and two, the D. My point is that I don't think throwing in the towel, or even writing us off as unable to beat the cowroids, is warranted at this point. |
Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
JC is awesome dude, but Santana and co need to get on track, and our O line is decimated. As of NOW we can't beat the hottest teams in the NFL.

Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
This thread is kind of pathetic - it reveals that we're so bad (and we all know it) that rooting for losses elsewhere is all that's left. When I tried to watch Dallas-NE it was too depressing. I can picture the scene two weeks from now when we fail to score a single TD against NE and lose by 40 or 50 pts... Gibbs, completely outwitted and outclassed, staring across the field at Belichick w/ all his players respecting him and showing it in how they play. And then thinking ahead to Dallas, a team not anywhere in the league of NE, but still on a much higher level than Gibbs and Co. I hope there's a shakeup sooner than later, whether Gibbs retires or Snyder starts firing people, it's never too early to start the new era. For one thing, if the front office continues to be totally incompetent and the offense plays like a bunch of pussies, we're likely to lose Campbell to a much better team. There are some very good reasons to make the big changes sooner than later.
|
Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
I think we played a really tough game against a good team. It's a game we could have and probably should have won, but didn't. In spite of the loss, we have several positives to take from the game, we are 3-2, and we still have 2/3rds of the season ahead of us. Plenty of time for us to get on a roll.
Should we be happy we lost? No, of course not. Should we slit our wrists, call for everyone to be fired and predict 0-11 the rest of the way? Even more absurd. Season's not over, not by a long shot. |

Given your signature, MT, does this post really make sense? If this is "sharing your courage," I really hate to think what your fears are in this context!!! My opinion: you are over-reacting to a 17-14 loss at Lambeau. We've got a top-10 defense, an emerging young QB, and an offense that, out of 10 halves of football, has played badly in only 2, really. We're getting better. It's not the smooth process we'd all want, but it's there. No, we are not an elite team. But we aren't shit either: check out the Rams, Falcons, Jets, Dolphins, Saints, and Bengals, for a start. Those teams have good reason to moan. We don't, not yet anyway. When did skins fans become so pissy, nervous, bitter, and insecure? Have some heart and stick by your team, at least here at 3-2. Or, if that's too much for you, just change your name to MTPatriotsFan and go cozy up to Belicheck. And then when, down the road, they run into trouble (all teams do), you can jump on whomever else is the new hot thing. Or just keep your fears to yourself. |

Re: Focus Your Negative Energy- Pats-Cowgirls Thread
Hey, if you guys can be satisfied w/ an offense that can't score a single point in the 2nd half of two games (already) that's your shame. I'm just saying that Belichick, Dungy, Cowher, (and probably the old Gibbs) wouldn't stand for that kind of shit beyond the blink of an eye. Has it been addressed in Washington? Hmmm. If the coaching doesn't address the problems what do you do w/ the coaches?
Lunacy would be a call for a whole organization shook up. I love GW. But you can't be a contender for anything w/o consistency on both sides of the ball. Gibbs hasn't been able to get it done going on four years (even the 05 run was inconsistent and relied heavily on a healthy Portis). And Gibbs/Saunders hasn't got it done going on two years. Where are the excuses going to come from next? |
Hey, if you guys can be satisfied w/ an offense that can't score a single point in the 2nd half of two games (already) that's your shame. I'm just saying that Belichick, Dungy, Cowher, (and probably the old Gibbs) wouldn't stand for that kind of shit beyond the blink of an eye. Has it been addressed in Washington? Hmmm. If the coaching doesn't address the problems what do you do w/ the coaches?
What do you think Belichick, Dungy, and Cowher would do without their #1 receiver, most of their starting o-line, and with a banged up RB and a young QB? Our patchwork offense is currently #15 in the NFL. Let's take it easy... |

Our patchwork offense is currently #15 in the NFL. Let's take it easy...
Where do the excuses stop? Did we go w/o Moss and the starting o-line in NY? It has little to do w/ injuries. Great coaches and organizations prove that over and over again, that's the whole point. |
