Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
In honor of B. Lloyd's contribution to the team, can a moderator please close this thread when the 14th person posts in honor of the 14 measley yards he had. Good riddance.
Classic post. Seriously, I'm glad we get to see Caldwell now. His situation kind of reminds me of Thrash situation because Caldwell was prolific in NE like Thrash was in Philly. I think Caldwell could be a real weapon, and even if one of his eyes pops out he'll be better than Lloyd. |
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
IMO Johnson and Berrian are the best targets. Fitzgerald would require too hefty a price in a trade and I also agree on Jones, he just doesn't appear to give a crap that he is 6'6", 240, and runs a sub-4.4.....yet has only 9 catches on the season. Berrian would give us a legit deep threat with good size, 6'1" - 185 and Johnson is 6'3", 220 and appears to be a very solid receiver. Another UFA target would be DJ Hackett. He appears to have recovered well from his ankle injury, he's young with good size and has shown improvement each year.
I'm not sure about the potential salary cap ramifications of releasing Lloyd. But if I understand Canuck's cap sheets we will take about a $ 3M cap hit in 2008 by releasing Lloyd, hopefully we will have enough space to pursue at least a couple of the above WRs.
Yeah me either. I am guessing we would take a decent cap hit though. Only way I see us letting go of Llyod on the cheap is if Danny trades down in the draft for more picks and give our #1 or #2 away with Lloyd as sort of a freebie. I like Berrian, but Johnson is taller and appears would be more physical. Too bad about the situation with Lloyd or we could go for both. With Santana seeming to be out of commision for the year with regards to speedster status we really don't have a deep threat anymore. I wish Caldwell could get into more action. McCardell is a gamer and was a nice addition. I think Caldwell will be too once he gets in there. |

Bringing in Caldwell and McCardell sort of negates Llyod, but we still need a tall WR to replace his ass. I don't know of any top notch WR's coming out of college this year. Does anybody have info on the WR crop coming out this year? |

The reason I think Caldwell can work out nicely is because NE's passing game bears a similarity to ours- route running and timing patterns are at a premium. He was Brady's leading receiver last year, and is still young. No reason he can't be a very solid contributor IMO. |
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
Compare and Contrast:
What would be more beneficial to the Redskins for the rest of the 2007/08 season: Brandon Lloyd on the field for 90% of the offensive snaps for the rest of the season OR The return of Steve Spurrier to the position of head coach of the team? Frankly, even if the price of not having to deal with B. Lloyd for the rest of the season meant a reincarnation of the Ol'Ball Coach on the sidelines, I think I'd take that deal. The one thing you have to say about Lloyd is that he isn't one of the "has-beens" that the Skins have signed in free agency over the past 7-8 years. The reason for that is that he's a "never-was"... |
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
I really have to kick my own ass on this topic. I was extremely optimistic about Lloyd coming here. I thought he was the man, anyways i suck and i was wrong.....
However i cant go out like a chump, so i will point out to the entire board and you can go back and look into this if you'd like to. I wanted T.O. from the start, now look at him, no team cancer, top reciever once again, unreal we didnt even look at him. Everyone said it would never work out with him and Gibbs but looks like Gibbs is the one not working out (oops, dont want this to turn into a Gibbs thread...). Ok, im done for now. |
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
At least we can stop hearing about Lloyd now. He's done. Who cares. In other news, I'll be suiting up this weekend at wideout. I'm a slow, not that tall white dude with horrible hands, but apparently I was the only guy not injured.

Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
Have heard the same about Jones. What's compelling about him is he's 6'6", fast, and I think Dave Butz' son is his agent.
But BB is at the top of my wish list
For a guy who ran such a sick 40 time pre-draft, and had all the teams salivating over his athleticism, doesn't Jones just look really slow on Sundays? The dude looks like he is running down the field wearing Timberlands. Berrian could be nice, depending on the price. I haven't watched him a whole lot this season, but is he a one trick pony? Deep ball or bust? It might be hard to tell given the QB problems in Chicago. Whatever, that's a conversation to have a couple of months from now I guess. As for this Sunday, is it time for Gibbs to break out the film of the '87 Skins beating the Tony Dorsett led Cowboys with a bunch of replacement players? I'm not sad to see The Receiver out, but seriously what the hell!!! How many injuries can one team have? |

What a turd. I hope his collarbone falls off.
That is one of the funniest things I've heard this week. |
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
He was probably making one of those miraculous diving catches for a TD in practice over Springs.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
Hopefully Moss is good to go this week, and Jimmy Farris is just a warm body to suit up...Thrash has a high ankle sprain and thinks he's be back soon...good luck with that.
Matt Jones is intriguing. He's got loads of potential. I'm not sure why he fell out of favor with Del Rio, but he sure shows his attitude. Not sure the Skins would be willing to take a chance. |
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
i dont mind jimmy farris, give the man a chance . .
i agree with the people who said mccardell and caldwell could be the veteran, smart, know how to find the soft spots of a zone defense receivers we will need going into this game . . . i also think these guys open up the al saunders play book b/c we cant just send these guys on fly routes down the sideline when were looking for longer pass plays, allows and forces us to use the middle of the field . . go skins! |

Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
Lloyd isnt much, but who is going to play wideout for us? Let's bring back gary clark! If sean taylor wasnt hurt i would say line him up out there for a few plays, any chance laron landry gets in on offense? This week is getting worse and worse. First the philly debacle, now even more injuries leading up to Dallas. All I want for x-mas is a Win over Dallass

Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
Do we actually care about this? He has 2 catches this year and he is getting paid 6 mil a year ... he's done
|
Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season
He didn't do anything this year anyway.
