Given that this is a high profile case and these guys cut the phone lines, left a knife on Taylor's bed, damaged the door and AC unit, fired a weapon, etc., I'm confident that they are going to be caught and f'ed.

Cut the phone lines? Damaged the A/C unit? They're morons! Would anyone on this entire friggin forum be cutoff from the outside world if the land-line running to your house (if you even have one) was cut? I'm pretty confident these idiots will surface sooner rather than later, and I hope breaking and entering, reckless endangerment, and attempted murder are amongst the charges thrown their way. SSG? Thoughts on the charges that'll be filed given what you know about the situation?

Unfortunately, I'm not at all familiar with Florida law and the facts are still pretty murky. The typical scenario is that the prosecutor hits them with as many charges as possible to gain leverage for plea deal talks. I would guess they would be hit with various firearms charges (e.g., it is likely they are felons and would be hit with charges of felon in possession of a firearm), attempted murder, various property crimes, and burglary among other possible charges. In short, if they get caught, they're f'ed. JoeRedskin?

Good. Hopefully they're caught soon.

Thank G-d Sean is alive. I don't know if it's been posted elsewhere, but COMCAST reported that he "flatlined" twice during the worst of the initial ordeal. He is truly amazing and I believe he survived knowing he had to be there for his little girl. I just pray that he continues to make progress no matter if he plays football ever again for the Skins. Just get better Sean. Just get well.

Do you find it kind of strange that all this happened supposedly with this fiancee in the room and she emerged unscathed? I ceratinly don't want to speculate. And I apologize if it seems that way. But, if we assume the shooter was trying to kill Taylor, doesn't he also "take care" of any potential witnesses?

She must be in protective custody or not living in that house anymore. I would be surprised if the guy came after her since this attack is so highly profiled. I don't think this is like some sort of mafia hit, where now they have to take out everyone in a 1 block radius. I think this guy is too busy trying to save his ass right now to worry about anyone who may or may not have seen something. I don't even think she was in the same room when this happened. I thought ST left the bedroom to see what was going on. I seriously doubt she even saw anything.

Oh, he left the bedroom? OK, I thought he had basically barricaded himself, her, and their baby in the bedroom and the door was kicked down and shots were fired.

It's all so confusing.

I feel you SS. Hopefully by the end of the week they'll have a good idea on what actually happened and we won't have to speculate anymore.

I haven't heard anything other than his fiancee hid under the covers and the baby was unharmed. I think that's why they're calling it a robbery/burglary. If it was a planned "hit," I don't think Taylor's only wound would have been to his upper leg. From what I've heard/read, it seems as if Taylor's presence caused the intruder to fire a few shots and run.

ESPN is still reporting that the assailant(s) burst through the doors and shot Taylor inside of the bedroom.

I just spoke to my mom who is a doctor and a big skins fan...she was glad that he responded to stimuli and thinks that he is through the worst, but she said that tonight is very very important (first 24 hours after surgery) in determining the long term recuperation and the extent of the damage. Obviously he has top notch medical staff at his side but we still need to pray for him and he is by no means in the clear.

Similar thoughts crossed my mind, but who the hell knows. His lawyer has said several things some of which seem to conflict (he was hit in the hallway, they kicked in the door, etc.). I don't think we'll know much of what happened until/or if the financee speaks (or, God willing, Taylor revives). From all current reports it seems like a targeted thing and likely an attempted murder. If it was about insurance money or something (which is I guess what you were getting at by pointing out that the financee emerged unscathed) I'd have to believe that it would not make much financial sense for her to have Sean either dead or critically injured. If I had to guess, with the limited information available, I'd say it had something to do with the ATV incident of a couple of years ago. I'd guess it was some of those individuals looking to settle a perceived score. Unlike Michael Wilbon, though, I would not conclude that Taylor "embraced the violent lifestyle," I'd say a bad decision and some bad associations came back to haunt him even after he had worked so hard to break from that past (and from all I can tell, isolated) incident. Obviously it's just pure speculation on my part and I have no idea what happened, but from the initial reports that seems logical to me. Likely I'm wrong and the police will hopefully find the perpetrator(s), but that's my guess if I had to speculate. I just wish Sean had just left Miami behind and moved his g/f and daughter up to Ashburn...which isn't to say it couldn't happen in DC, but if it was those same individuals from a few years ago then it was specific to Miami.

Not to really get into the whole speculating thing, but just as some peices are start to put together....

I just dont get that if this was a "hit" like it seems to be coming together as...how they just shot him in the leg and left...it dosent add up to me...I dont really care if it ever does as long as Sean Makes it.

Pull through, Sean!

Glad that it appears ST is headed in the right direction. I'm sure we'll all be 'a bit guarded' until Sean Taylor speaks and gains total consciousness. Very horrible, unfortunate happening. Best Wishes and thoughts to #21. Get well soon! #21 the REAL Superman!
