Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
rather have hackett. he's a better player. really rather have roy williams or CJ ;) but being realistic, hackett or berrian are probably the best available, and zorn knows enough about one of them to make an informed decision immediately.

Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
My point is this. For two straight years SM has been somewhat average to below average. Lloyd has been a complete 100% bust. ARE has barely over 1,000 yards receiving in two years. So why go out and sign ANOTHER FA WR that is unproven? If we're going to go the FA route to find yet another WR, I'd just rather go out and get a guy that WE KNOW once he gets on the field he's going to PRODUCE. I can't say that about B. Johnson or Earnest Wilford. Why bother chasing guys that we might already have?
OK so who, in your mind, is a guy we KNOW will produce? Randy Moss? Won't get out of New England. Chad Johnson? Bengals won't trade him. Do you want to draft a guy with the 1st rounder? Usually takes them 3 years before they make a big impact. I hear you ragging on guys like Bryant Johnson, but what is the alternative you're suggesting? |
Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
You know what? Screw Bryant Johnson! He's just another number in a long line of jackass's that played high school ball in Maryland and then left to go to college out of state. I would include Carmelo with the Yellow, but he grew up in New York so I can't blame him for Syracuse.
Thats right Kevin Durant, I'm talking about you (Born in DC, went to High School in Rockville) and you go to TEXAS?!! Who's in Texas? At least settle for Georgetown. GD. I'm also talking to you AJ Wallace. Derrick Williams. Derrick Harvey. Victtor Abiamiri! Lamaar Thomas! Joe Haden! Anthony McCalin! Tywon Lawson! Uche Echefu!
Are serious?!?! |
Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
I like Johnson...I do think he has the potential to do more on a new team. I would target him and Hacket as free agent possibilities if they can't land a true #1 in trade.

I hear you ragging on guys like Bryant Johnson, but what is the alternative you're suggesting?
I'm not ragging on Johnson. I just don't think his production is going to match up to his paycheck and we've already got that problem at the wr position. If we were a SB contending type of team then I'd be 100% behind going out and trying to get Moss or CJ. But to be honest we're not that type of team yet. So IMO we need to have 2 more solid drafts and build it that way. Kind of like how SD, GB and Jack do it. Jack is a playoff team and is waaaaay under the cap. They should go out and try and trade for CJ. When and if we get to that point, then go out and get a big time FA or two. How many times have you seen a team go out and try and get these high priced FA's and they still have too many other holes to fill? Look at SF last year? They signed 3-4 guys and they still sucked. |

Why is eveyone so high on DJ Hackett? Isn't he VERY injury prone? What has he done that's so special? To me he's not better ( or worse) than the guys we already have. His only advantage is he knows the offense. No thanks. |

He was the leading receiver in the loss we received in the playoffs this year!!! 101 yards I believe 6 or 7 catches!!! The guy is a underrated gem. |

I think Hackett's been around for 3-4 years and hasn't really had a breakout year. I guess if he's a FA and isn't going to cost much then sign him. But if he's going to cost a lot of $ and or draft pick then I'd say we pass on him. |

Well he is just like Bryant Johnson he was overshadowed by Darrell Jackson, Bobby Ingram, Deion Branch & Nate Burelson over the years |

Jackson wasn't there last year and Branch is always hurt. Nate B. has been a total bust. The guy that played best was Ingram. I just want a guy that isn't going to be pulling hamstrings/groins and has some type of history of production. Hackett had some big games last year. But can he stay healthy? And can he be consistent? I'm all for bringing him in here at the right price. But let's not OVERPAY for a guy that's only shown flashes. |
Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
Johnson would be good for our WR core. We need a tall wr. Should also take a look at Jerry Porter. Hear is a with a list of all the top Free agent wr's.
1. Randy Moss 2.Benard Berrian 3.D.J. Hackett 4.Bryant Johnson 5.Justin Gage 6.Greg Camarillo 7.Ernest Wilford 8.Jerry Porter 9.Devery Henderson |

I understand your point, but let's be serious about this, the only player that Hackett played behind that could be compared to Boldin or Fitzgerald is Branch when he played in NE. None of those other WR's are close to the talent of Boldin or Fitzgerald, not even on there best day are they close... |

That's why I said over the years he hasn't been a starter in Seattle
I just want a guy that isn't going to be pulling hamstrings/groins and has some type of history of production. Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
porter is a bad team guy and not very good. easy pass.
|
Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
Bryant Johnson is a great #3 who makes lots of sick passes for a team that cannot seem to make the playoffs. Diamond in the rough, right? To me, he smells alot like Brandon Lloyd. Hackett is when healthy, consistent. And I dont care what anyone says, I will gladly sacrifice a little talent if it means our offense can get on track faster b/c he knows it better than all our other receivers.

Re: How about Bryant Johnson?
Yeah Bryant Johnson makes sense as long he wouldn't cost alot. But then again if it makes too much sense we'll never do it!

His production this year (when healthy) has been very good. His ankle injuries this year and at the end of 2006 are a major concern (he was also out in early 2004 with a hip injury). Not sure if the 2006 & 2007 injuries were on the same ankle. He's a risk, but this risk is also what will make his contract less. IMO we shouldn't be the high bidder for him, with Zorn here and Hackett's size compared to our receivers, he has great opportunity here and should settle for a bit less to come to DC. If not, move on to Bryant Johnson. |
