What bothers me is that Zorn is playing the offense, while Blache is letting the defense fume....is this 2 separate teams or 1?

What the heck?

Defenses thrive on rest - I think it's reasonable to them differently from the offense.

When has Zorn said anything about "trying to win" against Jax??

All he wants to see is something positive, even if it's just one drive. I don't think that's overreacting at all.

I think Mosley is the one overreacting here, but I guess he needs something to write about.

They also thrive on being royally pissed off.

Excellent point. I'll take a well-rested LB with a chip on his shoulder over a less-rested LB who has had a chance to "prove" himself.

i agree..let them feel the burn for an extra week..sit on the sidelines and be ashamed.

Greg Williams is smelling blood. Why risk more embarassment?

I think we should bring our 1st string in the fourth quarter. That way our Offense can build a little confidence. If they still cant score, then bring on Colt.

What about Oline?
Those guys are maulers...they got embarrased....why not let them stew on it?
I wouln't want to get Randy Thomas pissed off at me.
Not to mention Buges...that guy gets hot.

They need to prove themsleves as players and as a team; so I say let 'em play a half on offense, and a quarter of D

NO NO NO AND NO. Why risk getting the first team injured in PRESEASON. Yeah we laid an egg against the Panthers but it is preseason and these games don't count.

One quarter worth of work is needed. Missed the game since I went to see the Lions beat down the Browns and went out to dinner afterwards, but from what I did see on the highlights and the stats from the game on NFL.com it must not have been a pretty sight. I drafted JC as one of my QBs also. Thank God I landed Kitna. Now that first team O(Lions) looks damn good.

Re: Should The Starters Play Against Jacksonville?

THis is the PRESEASON!! We lit it up Spurrier's first year here in the preseason blowing out teams and looking like we were firing on all cylinders.. we all know what happened when the real games started.

Let that taste of embarassment from the Panthers game drive our vet o-line these next 2 weeks to come out and dominate vs the gmen.

The negatives outweigh the positives here IMO

Re: Should The Starters Play Against Jacksonville?

Zorn made a good point - you want the starters, especially the offensive starters, to finish out the preseason with some tempo and a little momentum. I voted for letting them play a few series. Jacksonville's fierce first team D won't be in there, and decent drive for some points could go a long way. We've badly regressed offensively the past two preseason games, and that's not the way we want to go into the NFL Season Opener in Giants stadium against the world champs.

LOL!!! That's funny. Dude had 20 picks to only 18 td's last year and a rating of barely 80. Not something I'd be thanking god for on the fantasy gridiron.

Re: Should The Starters Play Against Jacksonville?

I voted for letting the offensive players come in for a series or two just to get into a little tempo before the season starts, I wouldn't want them going into the Giants game knowing the last time they faced any real competition it resulted in 47-3.

I agree with Blache about the defense though, the best thing for them to do is let them sit and let them stew about what happens, because when they take the field against the Giants they will be hungry to prove the doubters wrong.

I also agree that Mosley has some slim pickins' to choose from if he translates "we're going to play our starters for a series or two to get some upbeat tempo in there" into "we are going to try and win the game."

Re: Should The Starters Play Against Jacksonville?

why risk it? Why risk hurting your best players? by all means give all the rookies the time they need, thomas, kelly, moore, horton..let those guyts fight if off...but if campbell goes down or we have a huge injury and i have to watch old man collins in a system he doesnt know all year i am going to think zorn is spurriers half brother seperated at birth

Re: Should The Starters Play Against Jacksonville?

I dont think they should play moe than a quarter. because remaining healthy is a key priority. Getting in a rhythym is also. But they should be able to do that in one quarter or less. If they can substain a scoring drive or two. We should be good. Preferrable two. Also realize Jacksonville is not joke and they will be bringing the blitz..even if its their back-ups. We need to keep our Qb healthy..If the O-Line is not playing well (like last week). I would pull JC immediately.
I like it.

The offense needs to find a groove and take something... anything positive out of Thursday's game.

The defense should be better suited if they sit and stew on that lousy performance.
I say no way no how. If we score 20 touchdowns what does it prove or change goign into week 1? Plus the starters would be going against ALL backups...so you would expect them to do good. but those second stringers are out for blood tryign to make the team. I want to see what they do against the Giants not the Jags
