Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
Which line did Emmitt use in his "audition" that got him the job?
Was it- "They need to come out sharp as a whistle..." Or was it- "If they ain't careful they gonna get blowed out" Don't get me wrong, Emmitt was one of the all time great Gators, so I respect him for that, but he is borderline Forrest Gump... YouTube - Emmitt Smith Can't Speak Compilation
LMAO. That was good. He is just terrible. They should replace him w/ Trent Dilfer. |

My wife, who is not a football fan at all, just so happened to be sitting with me while the Monday Night Football crew was doing the pre-game show and she made that same comment. She said he needs to do something with hair as opposed to whipping it around like a bee hive. I almost fell off the couch. Dude should accept the fact that he doesn't have any hair and move on. It is acceptable to shave you head or cut it close like Mike Tirico and keep it neat. It's hard to watch him in High Definition, it looks even worse. |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
The funny thing is that the Eagles LOST to Dallas, and everyone was talking about how great they looked the next day. We WON and they still downplay it and the reason is that they don't WANT the Redskins to be good. For whatever reason they (Reporters, Journalists, Analysts, Talking Heads) can't deal with it.
Other teams get enthusiastic hype while we get grudging acknowledgement. Sending McNabb and the Eagles to 2 -3 at home will only make them hate us that much more. They have high hopes for Donovan this year. Tom Jackson will be inconsolable if McNabb loses which will be a joy to watch. |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
On the same note isn't Philly the favorite for next week at this point?
I think thats a bit of a stretch, but I guess its in Philly . . . |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
Emmitt Smith is only where he is because of those massive offensive linemen he had in Dallas I could rush for 100 a game behind that line, and I only plaid football 1 year.. Hiis opinion means nothing when he talks it's usually a commercial for me, But people need to realize that no matter what the records are (as with many rivalries) you throw them out on Redskins-Cowboys games...
|
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
Must the weird beard!! When Emmitt does those horrible commercials, he's such a bad actor as he is a broadcaster. HE SUCKS!!! Aikman on the other hand, is a fair announcer and was the only cowboy I've liked, a classy guy.
|
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
Emmitt Smith is still a Cowboy (ugh) so he doesn't like the Redskins. Steve Young probably was one of many who picked Dallas as the best team in the NFL, and he hates to be wrong. Our own John Riggins picked the Cowboys to win, but Sonny Jurgensen picked the Redskins. Riggins and Young didn't figure in the "Zorn Factor!"
So is Troy Aikman who had to commentate for the entire game and not once did he speak with bias. Emmitt Smith needs to grow up and at least try to be a decent commentator. Right now ESPN has a lot of people on the payroll right now that really don't belong in the booth. Guys like Keyshawn, Emmitt, and Hodge. By the same token I have tremendous respect for Jaws, TJ, and Floyd Reese. With that said I think we're getting to much respect this week. |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
OMG a hall a famer Cowboy hates the Redskins, who cares what he has to say. I hope we are favored to lose the rest of the year, because that only makes us want to come out and win like we did last week.

i care because he is a commentator who is supposed to be non bias.aikman is fair,is it too much to ask for emmitt to be? |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
I agree about aikman. He is very classy.
Smith on the other hand, great football player, dumb person. |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
Just as a follow up to this; Emmitt this morning said the Redskins have to be considered the 2nd best team (after the Giants) in the NFC East after taking care of the Cowboys in Texas Stadium. He praised their effective running game and said they are passing very well. Strong praise for Campbell. He added that with the talent the Cowboys have they should be much better than they showed, but credit goes to the Redskins for handling their business.
|
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
Sounds like Emmitt calmed down a bit and came to his senses. Just more proof that he's a big Cowboys homer.
|
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin are both pro-Cowboy in their analysis, which tarnishes their credibility. With that said, I used to mute the TV when Irvin talked (although you could still see the smoke cloud come out of his mouth from his most recent hit on the crack pipe) and I definitely mute it when Emmitt talks. Emmitt has trouble articulating his words which makes his analysis laughable. My issue is not that they are former Cowboys (Troy Aikman is one of my favorite announcers), my issue is they are far too biased to analyze football on the national stage. They belong on a Cowboy talk show in Dallas (of course the same could be said about most of the ESPN team).
HAIL!! |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
i can't believe ESPN keeps hiring and retaining these ex jocks as commentators.michael irvin, and emmitt are both awful on their best days.chris carter sounds way to uppity and thinks his opinion is better than everybody else's is,and don't get me started on ismael.
as bad as golic and stinky are at times, they look like the best in the field compared to the guys mentioned above.of all the ones on the other networks that are in studio hosts, the one who always tells it like it is would be shannon sharpe.and i love james brown and kurt menefee.howie long, jimmy johnson, marino, and cowher can all go to hell as far as i'm concerned. |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
ehhh aikman and theisman are the best

Where would Riggins legacy have been without the Hogs? He did play for the Jets before he played for the Skins, why didn't he shine then? Here's the answer. The Hogs, that big offensive line right? Why is it different for Smith then?
People trip me out when they make comments like "they wouldn't be where they are without that offensive line". If it weren't for a great O-line, their would be no Art Monk, J. Riggins, Sanders, Clark, no SB wins, Gibbs, and you certainly wouldn't know who Joe Bugel was anymore. He wouldn't be relevant. |

Joey T is a Skins homer no doubt. I think most Skins fans would agree.

I'm not the one that said anything about credibility so I can't speak to that. |

Aren't all ex-Redskins credible? Hey, I believe what they say, except for Riggo picking the Cowboys to beat the 'Skins.

I agree he was to an extent but it wasn't this blatant. Plus Joe T was on the Sunday night game and eventually the Monday night game as a commentator. It just seems magnified to me when the analysts are doing it on the pre-game and post-game shows. That's just how I see it. |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
It pains me to say Aikman, and Buck have become my favorite team.
It was comical the other night (during the Skins game) as once or twice, Aikman had to catch himself when he started to foolishly defend something the boys were doing. He never does that sort of thing, but obviously his roots with the boys............ |

 Thats cold man. But true. Dude looks like a blowfish spawned in the bay beside a nuclear power plant. |
Re: Emmitt Smith:"cowboys should never let this redskins"
I wonder what Emmitt would have said if the Bengals had beaten the Cowboys? Why do the Cowboys have all the luck? At least Troy Aikman acts like a professional, though. But Aikman did hint that when the Redskins were down 14-0 in the first quarter of the 'Skins game against the Iggles, it just might turn into a blowout. He must have been reminiscing (sp) about the hit LeVar Arrington gave him that pretty much ended his career.

Troy Aikman's a Cowboy, too. Even in the Redskin's lowest of lows, he always called a fair game - you'd never know he was an arch rival. But he's always been a class act, though. As for Emmitt, guess his Dancing with the Stars trophy went to his head. Oh, and he's a terrible commentator, too. As for other Cowboy ilk, Jimmy Johnson sat right up there - Game 1- with Terry and Howie and called us pitiful. |

i think that is due in fact to each of their hair problems.JJ's hairspray has fried his brain, howie's flat top cut reacted to his neanderthal brain, and terry's lack of hair baked his egg in the warm louisiania sun.call it global warming i reckon. |

I watched the Cowboys and Cardinals game yesterday and Aikman showed no favoritism toward either team.
