Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
In the spirit of this thread I'll say Bills. I've always had a soft spot for them and they are a pretty nice club, even though Ralph Wilson sucks at life and hates the bigger revenue clubs simply cuz he's not a good businessman and doesn't know how to market the team.
Me changing teams would never happen though, simply because I love the Redskins. |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
Buffalo Bills
Cincinnati Bengals Kansas City Chiefs (I'll bet this gets the most votes) Oakland Raiders Detroit Lions San Francisco 49ers St. Louis Rams __________________ You know you come up with the weirdest and hardest questions. Who did the one about picking a rival team jersey? I couldn't answer that one. Ok here ya go. I've always liked the black and silver (Raiders) however I can't stand Davis as much as I like the team and don't want to support him so...nix. I would figure most people would pick the Cheifs only cause it's another Indian team and we gotta stick together against the negative name tiranny. LOL. But I gotta nix. I never liked the whole Buffalo on the helmet thingy so nix. I have dispised the 49ers since the 80's and their SB runs. Sometimes battling us. Their cockyness. Thank god they have sucked for a while. nix. That leaves the Bengals, Lions, and Rams. .. I always liked the Bengals stripes kinda a toss up but I'm unhappy with their coach still since leaving us so nix. Lions are always bad. Like someone else said ...you can't go any further down but I can't see them in the SB so nix. I did root for the Rams when they had their SB run. Their offense was a work of art and picked apart many defenses. Fast high scoring. I know, I know since then they have lost all that. Didn't Saunders go back to them? Anyway I guess I would have to pick the Rams. But their emblem on their hats look stupid. Oh well. |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
The only way I could stop backing the skins is if they no longer had a team in the NFL and then I have no clue who I would decide to follow. Maybe the Ravens or Carolina because both are abouth the same distance from my home. Maybe I'd stop watching pro ball all together and start watching Curling Curling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The College Bowl system rewards teams and fans with atleast one big game at the the of the season. Face it, if you're going tothe Holiday Nuts Bowl, at least it's a big deal for your school and fans.
The NFL is rigged in its officiating. I don't think College has fallen to that level yet.
The College system reward the teams with the most money, and money is the reason why you will never see any type of playoffs system. You can never say that any team has a chance at the BCS championship game, b/c only those teams from the top conferences have a realistic chance. Ask a team like Utah how fair the college football system is. Honestly the College Bowl System is ridiculous now, they have so many freaking bowl games, I think it cheapens the whole concept of a postseason bowl game. The Terps went to the Humanitarian Bowl, and while this was "nice", to me personally it wasn't that big of a deal given the fact that the team stunk it up towards the end of the season. |

If you had to, or wanted to jump ship, and go root for another team who would you root for? Here's the catch though, it has to be a team that finished below .500 each of the last two seasons so your choices are as follows Buffalo Bills Cincinnati Bengals Kansas City Chiefs (I'll bet this gets the most votes) Oakland Raiders Detroit Lions San Francisco 49ers St. Louis Rams
The 49ers, because they most closely resember the Skins - rich tradition, uniform colors, play outdoors, Super Bowls, etc. |

Makes me wonder if my Dad was your stepfather. :) He's that way with college sports too. |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
Hmmm, if i had to i would go with the niners. They should promise against us, and where a tough team when Singletary took over. He's tough enough and should be able to get that team back to success

If you change you allegiance....huh. WTF :hater:
Your a fair weather never was. YOU AREN'T WORTH A SHIT AND WON'T BE MISSED, SO CARRY YOUR ASS! BYE! |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
I'm a flintstone, so I'm rolling with the Motor City Lions.....

Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
Chiefs. Strong fan base. Not that far removed from being a good team. QB from Coastal Carolina. Solid history (Lamar Hunt, Len Dawson, etc.). Plus Scott Pioli.

I love people who say that stuff. Now if a story brook that one or two Ref's where getting paid on the side to throw a game that I might believe, but to think that they have 100's of people agreeing to throw games and no one steps forward to break the story is just crazy. The money a person would get for spilling the beans would be unreal and news sources would just throw them the bank to bring down the largest sport in the US. |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
So wonderful to see that I've inspired such a lively discussion. Obviously right now my second favorite team is the Ravens though of the options listed I would pick the Chiefs. Cool uniforms, great tradition, indian name, usually competitive.
you already root for a lousy team
Damn that is harsh, but unfortunately true. I am sticking with the Skins. I do root for the Lions since I am in the Detroit area, but always the Skins even against the Lions. |

Oh contraire bud. The guy who would even consider spilling the beans would be capped ASAP, and the media wouldn't even consider bringing down one of its big money makers now would it? Where would the fall/winter revenue go for all the networks if the NFL was covered as a fraud? Idiots on ESPN, etc would be more than willing to go along with the fixing if were true. Why do you think all the networks hype the NFl anyway? They aren't going to bring down a source of what, say billions in revenue? When was the mass media ever about the turth in recent time anyway? I don't think the games are fixed per say, but I think they are "controlled" during big games. When you see teams getting flagged left and right all of a sudden when they went through the regular season with a relatively low number of holding calls, you have to wonder. Also, why are some calls left unchallengable? You get too many phantom calls on holding than anything else. League has too much power that can indeed lead to a permanent change in momentum in any one game. Case in point, the SB here in Detroit. I was for the Steelers, but I came away from that one thinking the Seahawks indeed did get hosed. Yellow flags killed their momentum from possibly putting the game away in the first half. The penalties called in the NFL are too subjective and thus can be manipulated easily. |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
Either the Chiefs (been to one of their games Arrowhead is a great old stadium), or the Lions just because you can't hate them. They don't do anything to anyone!

Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
This thread encourages anarchy and should be closed immediately. I beg the Mods to please stop this madness and close this thread!!
Shame on everyone who actually named a team they would begin cheering for...you should all be cained in public!! If you ain't down with the Burgundy and Gold I got two words for ya... HAIL! |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
People are taking this way too seriously.

At the end of the day, I don't care who cheers for the Skins and who doesn't. My comments were purely in jest just like others. Perhaps you are just taking our comments too seriously. I do wonder about anyone who quotes Ron White... HAIL! |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
I went with the Bills. One of my best friends from college was a Buffalo native and a die-hard, and I've seen first hand the passion of him and his family. Real football people. They get the game, they love their team, and they relish being the little guy. I've been a fan ever since.

No one, I'd watch more hockey I suppose.

Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
First of all, I never jump ship. I'm a Redskin fan for life. I do feel sorry for the underdogs and like to see them do well when the Skins are not in contention I live in St. Louis, so my favorite dogs has to be the Rams and the Chiefs.

Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
To play along, from this list I would pick the 49ers due to their rich tradition. When they were winning I always enjoyed watching them, from the Montana days up through Young. To me they were always a likable franchise. Plus my brother is a 49ers fan.
Outside of this list though I would probably be a Packers fan if there were no Redskins. |

Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
I actually cannot believe that the Raiders are one of the teams listed here as an option, and even more amazed that there are some here who would choose them in this hypothetical.
The second darkest Redskins day in the 30+ years I've rooted for this team was the day of the humiliating SB XVIII defeat (ST's passing away obviously being first). At the time, it was the largest margin of defeat in any Super Bowl game. Marcus Allen's second half run, which we've been forced to endure replays of hundreds and hundreds of times over the years, was the icing on that awful cake. Am I really among a minority of fans on this site who can actually remember that game? Since then, my hatred for the Raiders has been virtually equal to that of the Cowboys. The fact that there have been larger margins of SB victories (including our 32 point win over the Broncos) has done nothing to lessen the hate for that team. I f*&#ing hate them, and so should every Redskins fan. |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
none of the above on your list..i would go with the steelers....

I just bottled it up and everytime it tries to resurface I just push it back down. (Tick, tick, tick...). Problem solved (for now). HAIL! |
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
Raiders..With all that talent they need a coach plus Davis retired that would assure them Dynasty status
|
Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
I have family from the Cincy area, and was a big Boomer fan growing up (University of Maryland), so I'd throw my support to the Bengals if push came to shove...

Re: If You Changed Your Allegiance...
The only way id would stop cheerin for the skins if is danny boy moved the team or changed the name. Neither of which i see happening. But if id had to i would say the bills or browns. Both loveable lossers with great fans bases. Bills games not the whine and cheese type enviroment that fed ex has turned into, im talking hot tubes, drunks from across the border causing rukus and plus all the cheap blue's you can drink. Browns b/c there hate for the steelers and their fans are just like hey its the browns we know we suck but we love em any way.
