Cutler? Whaaat? We are clearly drafting Sanchez.

(Also we did work out Sanchez today, that tells you something)
Not really. All it says is the team is doing it's due diligence, they work out a bunch of guys they don't necessarily have intentions of drafting. They also worked out JaMarcus Russell when he came out. |

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
You're sure of that huh? And you're sure Zorn would lie if they were interested in Cutler? We're not talking about Vinny here. I think Zorn has learned not to go so in depth about questions because he's so honest and some things are better left unsaid, but he was asked a direct question and he didn't beat around the bush, he gave a direct answer. He didn't try to evade the question. I don't think he's a liar. I don't think his priorities are to put football first if you know what I mean. If that makes me gullible than I guess I'm gullible but I'm surely not jaded about Zorn because of the way Vinny does his job. But I guess I know Zorn about as well as you do, so who knows? I guess my perspective of the man is different than yours. I've seen no reason to doubt his word. Vinny? Yes. Zorn? Not from what I've seen so far.
I don't really doubt Zorn's word as much as I just don't believe he has much say in the matter. I think Zorn probably does believe that Campbell will be his QB so he's not lying by saying that. Vinny may still feel otherwise though. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
DENVER
Exactly...and after the way that played out none of the teams interested in Cutler are going to raise their hands. If Cutler gets traded to a team that has a somewhat established starter then that starter is getting shipped somewhere at the same time so that there is no drama to follow. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
Maybe I'm just hopelessly optimistic but I'd like to think Zorn is involved in any major decision making and I don't think he would be left out of the loop especially when it comes to the QB position. If something was in the works for Cutler he would know about it, I don't see Vinny just making a move and saying here you go Jim, here's your new QB, like it or not.

You guys have to realize that teams workout guys that aren't in their plans all of the time, to realize his potential in a trade possibility and many other reasons. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
I'd prefer to talk about the QB's we already have on the roster. This is Campbell's last year to pull it all together. If he doesn't, he's gone. I'm still in the Colt Brennan fan club. I think HE could be the future here. I'm excited to see how he does with a year under his belt and what he does in training camp this summer. I think Colt could end up being a star but I hope we don't let him go somewhere else due to impatience. Therefore, bringing another QB here would certainly de-rail my hopes of seeing Brennan emerge in DC.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
Cutler is not even a blip on the radar. We have too many other glaring needs. If we had any intentions of pursuing him, it would have happened. Just like we are working out Sanchez, it is just a smoke screen. Our Offensive line is our weakest point. No matter who we put under Center, they have to have time from protection to convert plays not just 5 yard hitches. After a while defenses stack the box when all you have is 5 yard quick-hitters. Our defense was a top tier defense last year. No need to fix it if it isn't broken. Our O-line starters are Rabach at C, Thomas and Dockery at G, Samuels and Janson/Heyer at T. We need better depth at all of our O-line positions. If any of these players go down with an injury, our second stringers are mediocre at best. We are also long in the tooth with age at many of these positions stated. Our C doesn't even have an adequate replacement should he go down and with many teams going to a 3-4 scheme, he will be tested all season long. A smart move will be to bolster our O-line to make a stretch run this year.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
One of my friends from school went to the Bahamas a while ago. Some 'Skins were there he said and a bunch of the younger guys were hangin out by the pool with coolatas, talking to girls.
He said he saw JC in a lawn chair reading a book. One, i believe him. Two, I def believe the part about JC. I think he's that type of guy. Calm and collected, and a bit reserved. I like him and his presence in the locker room. I think if we pick up a top guard our Oline problems are patched up, and the offense averages 25 pts a game next season, esp with our defense keeping other offenses off the field. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
IF Zorn came out and said JC is his man then it is so. IF Vinny did get rid of JC now it would be an absolute embarrassment to Zorn and the FO. It would seem like they didn't have their shit together. I am glad that the Cutler talk is dying out. I pissed people off saying Jason was average to above average. I didn't want Cutler, but I personally don't think Jason is going to be the guy that gets us over the hump. Not sold on Brennan either. We really need to get a QB in 2010, but this time the scouts really need to pick a real winner.

I've been saying this all along (since this article came out). Honestly, I don't think the FO would throw Zorn under the bus. |

According to one PFT.com Cutlers a drunk. I think it's no wonder the NFL is experiencing a shortage of quality QB's. Most of them are becoming drunks :D. Now every QB from the 2006 draft has a scandalous pic available on the internet.

Eli's got a drunk pic, Big Ben has one, Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, Tony Romo. Alchol is costing the NFL +90 Passer Ratings. I guess now we know why Kurt Warner was so good last year. |

Yeah, last year we heard reports he was taking care of his Diabetes. How'd I guess it was PFT.com that would call him a drunk? I still can't understand how anyone stomachs their National Football League Enquirer reporting. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
You can have diabetes and still party like a rock star. I knew a few guys in college who did it, granted they weren't in the best of health and it's a death wish, but it can be done.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
sorry i know im late to the party and this isnt the welcome albert thread but it still hasnt set in that one of our biggest problems last year was not having a pocket collapsing dominate DT and we picked up the best DT in the game at 27 yrs old for 4 yrs 48 mil . . . somebody pinch me, i still cant believe we got him. yahoooo!!
go skins!! |

go skins!!
Right. By some of the posts on here you'd think we haven't done anything good this year. Remember how much some of the posters wanted AH and said how we would become a dominant defense if we had him? I can't wait to see him on the field in B&G this year! Hip Hip...... |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
i think we upgraded an already solid core team, imo we
- added big AH, lost evans - replaced kendal with dock, kendal still might sign with us which would be great - replaced springs with hall - lost MW whom might still sign with us - our 3 2nd round picks are now not rookies but 2nd year players ready to take on more responsibility, they have to contribute more than they did last year so thats an upgrade on offense imo we upgraded in almost every move we did except OLB and we still have the 13th overall pick to add rey or one of the top 4 tackles. this offseason we have improved in areas of need and we still got the 13th pick to address one more need. go skins!! |

Zorn may have said "No" but Snyder & Vinny obviously said "Yes"
I think this whole fiassco goes to show you that Zorn has no say over the roster. Is that the tools you want to deny a head coach you want to become successful? It's looking more to me that Zorn came in knowing that he is a filling a transistional phase between coaches. |

I think Cerrato actually might be innocent in all this. Zorn is definately innocent though, that much I'm sure of. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
See, I think Snyder obviously said Yes, and Zorn obviously said No, but I don't think it is at all clear that Vinnie said Yes.
I think Snyder said "Yes at any price" Zorn said "No it's not really a need" (with a nod that if it happens he will make it work) and Vinnie said "Yes but only if the price is right If this is in fact what happened, then that seems about the right sentiment. 30% of the fans wanted Cutler no matter the price, the rest wanted Cutler, but I am sure most, if the price had been right, would have accepted the deal. This doesn't mean Zorn has no control, just that he doesn't have Total control, and with our FO structure I don't think any 1 of the 3 should have total control. |

Absolutely. I believe him when he says he would have played hard anyways, he's that type of worker/player/person. This probably will push him beyond his own expectations though. He's improved every season so far and will be better next year too. |
