Wow this series has been good. Very entertaining! Varlamov has been the story of the playoffs.

Re: NHL: Round Two, CAPS vs. pens

Varly was absolutely outstanding tonight. Some of those flurries he withstood were amazing. That last goal in overtime wasn't his fault. Deflected in by his own player.
I'm a bit nervous though. If not for outstanding goaltending we could easily be down 3-0. We've been getting outplayed for the most part. |

Re: NHL: Round Two, CAPS vs. pens

The Caps were very sloppy last night, the defense atrocious. On Malkin's goal, to allow Billy Guerin to just sit in front of Varlamov without putting him on his ass was pretty bad. And a weak interference call put the Caps on only their 2nd power play all game, from which Backstrom capitalized. If that is a no call, it's 2-1 with no OT.
Hopefully they bounce back on Friday... |

Re: NHL: Round Two, CAPS vs. pens

Yeah I don't get why they are getting so outplayed. Especially on defense they're always chasing always slightly out of position.

Re: NHL: Round Two, CAPS vs. pens

Where the hell has Mike Green gone to? Save for one game, he's had a pretty lousy postseason. The defense as a whole has really left a lot to be desired. We can't expect 35+ saves from Varly on a regular basis.

At some point the other guys are going to have to pick up the slack and let him do his thing as far as scoring goes.

Lock that mofcker up! In response to your earlier post. It could just as easily be CAPS up 3-0! Even after our worst performance in this series we still took there ass to OT. And they got a hell of a lucky deflection to get that OT win, they will be lucky to win another game in this series. The CAPS will regroup and play LIGHTS OUT TOMORROW! VARLY IS THE MAN! The entire team must step up tomorrow and stick it to there ass. And those officials from last night fckin suck ass, they all but gave the game to those shit birds....wonder how much that cost! No punishment for OVY....one good move by the NHL. Varly has to shake off last pm's performance and the rest of the team has to STEP UP and play wide open 60 MINUTES of CAP/ phone booth style hockey! Re: NHL: Round Two, CAPS vs. pens

the caps just can't seem to win in overtime. good game by varly and the great 8 but overall not so good by the defense. if the caps can pull off a win in pitt. monday night then they'll have a good shot at winning game 7 but imo, the pens will take care of buisness and finish the caps off monday night.

I would say of the three Semin has been the biggest disappointment - he has completely disappeared after scoring 5 goals in the Rangers series. For the series I have seen a lot of people complain about the refs but overall it really looks like the Caps are out of gas and playing on their heels the whole time. It seems like someone from the Pens is camping out in front of Varly the whole game, yet noone on the Caps is screening the Pens goaltender that much. What is diappointing is I think Fleury is very beatable and we could have really gone on far. What sucks even more is I think Carolina is going to advance and we could have had home ice in the Eeastern Conference Finals as well. |

Re: NHL: Round Two, CAPS vs. pens

One thing I can't understand is why we seem to be playing so lacadazical. It just seems to me that the games we have lost (including the rangers series) the caps have been playing down to the apposing teams level. Even last night - we played to the pens level but luckily won. Caps hockey is physical, hard nosed, high powered offense, team oriented hockey. I have only seen that in game 1 and 2 during the pens series and only a select few periods during the rangers series...Thoughts?
	GO CAPS!! |

	GO CAPS!!
It's showing our lack of veteran defensivemen. Nearly every year we talk about picking someone up, but choose not to mess with the roster it seems. While it's building us for contention, we could certainly use someone in that role. And wow, we weren't getting any shots in at all, that has to change. |
