Re: Romo Plays w/ Tiger in D.C? That ain't right.
Matty I don't understand the hate towards gollf. Tiger is a beast on the course, and I saw him up close today(about two feet away). He is pretty damn jacked in the sense of being cut. In terms of the "gut", didn't see it. Also golf is mentally tougher than football IMO, as a person who has played both at a HS level(yeah I know I am not a pro, never said I was). Only sport that I think gets as tough mentally is tennis.
Individual sports demand a mental game that is unheard of in team sports, or atleast consistently winning in the individual requires that. That is why there are so few extremely dominant individual athletes compared to team "superstars". Funny note for any of those into golf. I was there at the first round today and Anthony Kim practice ran me over on the way to the restroom after a drive. I was walking away from the hole after his group finished hitting off the tee and then some little guy knocks into me and apologizes. It was Kim running to the bathroom, haha I guess he really had to go.
I think it depends on which position you play. Playing QB in the NFL is probably the most mentally demanding thing in sports IMO. But no question being a pro golfer takes some serious mental toughness. |

I think golf is because a golfer stands back and has to think about each shot. With a QB after the ball is snaped it becomes more instinct then mental. |

When I see people say stuff like they are not impressed with a hot chick I always wonder what their girlfrien must look like and I get this image.

And again, you can hand it off to the RB and the Oline do the work a good 30-50 percent of the time. Golf is pure individual. |

Ask Peyton how mental playing qb is. While i agree he has less time to throw then Tiger has to hit the ball, i'm sure Peyton spends more time watching film and going over gameplans. |

yeah but not just him his entire team! That is the key difference. I think team sports don't compare to individual ones in terms of the mental aspect. They just cant. There are others to put the weight on with a team. There is no way to argue against that IMO. |

Shhhhh....what the hell is wrong with you? Are you trying to mess up a good thing here? You might get it into his head that he could actually be successful at something & leave the Cowboys & then what? We'll have to deal with a REAL QB in Dallas for a change... ....wait, what am I saying? He can't read....nevermind. :D |

QB is far and away the toughest position in all of sports.

Are you saying that reading constantly changing defenses while deciding whether to audible or not and trying to deliver the ball while 300 lb. linemen are trying to rip your head off with the occasional blitz of a LB, safety or DB whose sole purpose is to knock you into next week, is harder than trying to hit a ball in a hole while everyone is trying to be quiet so as not to break your concentration? Comeon Matty. What are you thinking man? |

Nah, it's tougher to step away and think about your next shot for 10 minutes, then take 20 practice swings, then grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, step away and think some more, all with a crowd so quiet you can hear a pin drop. LOL |

A pro golfer couldnt play QB and a pro QB couldnt play on the PGA tour. Each sport has its own unique skill set and IMO its hard to say that playing one sport is tougher than the other. It could be argued that hitting a baseball is the toughest thing to do in sports. Its all relative and they are all tough to do. |
Re: Romo Plays w/ Tiger in D.C? That ain't right.
A pro QB would stand a better chance at trying to be a pro golfer than a pro golfer would trying to be a pro QB.
Yes they do have different skill requirements and I'm not trying to knock golfers, but in my opinion I can't imagine anything being more difficult in pro sports than playing QB. And that includes hitting a baseball. The split second decision making, the ability to read a defense, the knowledge required to play the position, the leadership, the guts and courage, the physical skills, etc. To be a top flight QB you have to have it all. Nothing compares IMO. |
Re: Romo Plays w/ Tiger in D.C? That ain't right.
During the match I saw Romo on TV and wondered why he's getting all this attention. Oh well, anything to add to the pressure of playing in the NFL. If Romo hs his mind on golf and Jessica, maybe we'll slaughter the Cowboys.

Re: Romo Plays w/ Tiger in D.C? That ain't right.
the only thing good about romo is jessica and they booth suck

Who said anything about championships? Tiger is far & away the best at what he does. Manning is great but Brady is just as good. |
Who said anything about championships? Tiger is far & away the best at what he does. Manning is great but Brady is just as good.
Well, I mean, sort of. No one really disputes the fact that Tiger is the best golfer on the planet, but there are other elite golfers as well.
Manning is clearly the best quarterback on the planet, but that doesn't mean Brady and Brees aren't also elite. It's a good comparison. The point is, you don't have to be the greatest ever to be at the top of your field. |

Check it out. Some skins there too, including Rock, JC, ARE, and Suisham. Looks like even though Romo had some bandwagon fans there, the skins fans gave him some hell. I would think they could pick someone better than Romo to team w/ Tiger in DC. Maybe it's drawn though, who knows. At least we get to look at Jessica S.
Romo is a hell of a golfer that is why he's playing with Tiger. He isn't going to T it up with a few hacks from the Redskins. |

JC and ARE are not even at hack status. What they should have done was recognized they arent ready to play in an even like that and say thanks but no thanks. |

It's a charity event, no?
Who cares if they can't play. |
It's a charity event, no?
Who cares if they can't play.
The entire tourney (like other PGA Tour events) is a charity event not just the pro am. I suspect their playing partners were in agony for 5 hrs having to watch them chop away so I would say their playing partners cared. The fans didnt mind it was hillarious watching them try to play golf. |
Re: Romo Plays w/ Tiger in D.C? That ain't right.
I dunno, it's charity, the fans enjoy it, I don't see the fuss.

No fuss, I just thought out of courtesy to the other players they would take a pass until they were better able to play. IMO and others I talked to, they looked like a couple of horse's asses wacking their way around the course. If looking like a couple of horse's asses bothered them they didnt seem to show it. |
Re: Romo Plays w/ Tiger in D.C? That ain't right.
If it was for charity and for fun, who cares how they played? They probably drew some spectators and attention to the event which is probably why they were asked. NBD.

I can tell you exactly how many spectators were drawn there to see JC, ARE & Romo - 0. Everyone was there to see Tiger and root for him or against him |

To me, if they are willing to look like "a couple of horse's asses" for the sake of charity, that is a reason to admire them. That is a good thing. |
