What I've seen the past two weeks (especially this week) when JC drops back, he's locking on the primary right away and only coming off to the checkdown (if he checks off at all) without looking at a second or third option. His head movement gives no indication that he's scanning the field or trying to influence the DBs away from where he wants to go with the ball.[/quote]

Yep, this has been going on for awhile, not just this season either. If he knows where he's going no matter what and can't read he has to fool the DBs by starting elsewhere, pump fakes both to and away from the receiver to indicate another route, etc

like on the first drive I believe when Portis went out.. he was looking at Portis pretty much the whole time out of the backfield.. staring him down till the point he wanted to throw it

In past years I've seen Portis make some very good blocks, but so far this year I haven't seen that much out of him. Is it because the coaches don't want to see him injured? Maybe Vinny will sign a college QB in the draft so he can get killed by the personnel around him.

That may not have been his fault. Another he was taking on a DT and got driven back, not a bad block, just over matched by 80+ pounds.

From what I've looked at so far, it appears to be a total team effort on the offensive (yes, it was) side of the ball from coaching on down.
