Re: Colt Brennan vs Rookie class
He's the reason we won 4 games alright...we were a 1 or 2-win team without him. He put up good stats with no line and was taking a huge beating every week. A team with no offensive line or running game won't make the playoffs with ANYONE at QB. You can't put any (or much) blame about 4-12 on Campbell, he's one of the few players who actually tried in all 16 games and put up respectable numbers despite his team.
The O-line argument is very valid. If you were actually paying attention, you'd see him getting hit before dropping back even 3 steps a lot of the time. He couldn't make good decisions when he didn't have time to do anything. You'd see a center who can't snap the ball into his hands from the shotgun formation. Even when not getting hit, his linemen didn't know how to keep the defenders from batting the ball for INTs and defensive TDs. Campbell's not our new Jurgenson, Kilmer or Theisman, but he's far better than he gets credit for. He showed a ton of toughness and leadership last season and kept us in most games all by himself. With a 4-12 record, we weren't blown out of games at all. He brought us back on many occasions. We nearly beat the Saints thanks to him and lost thanks to Suisham.
Did you ever look at the flip side and say that Jason made our OL look bad by HOLDING ONTO THE BALL TOO LONG??? Put Brees, Manning, Brady, Roethlisberger behind our OL and I gurantee you we win more games. It's the QB thats the problem, then the OL. JC has no pocket awareness what so ever. Quit backing him up, he sucks, get over it, end of arguement. |

Thank you. IDK how can any body think Jason Candle is our best option . So every thing has to be an excuse of Jason Candle. I can't stand fans who don't want us to win games. But true stuff man. Me and you will be good friends for sure here. |

You keep calling him Candle it's hard to take any even legitimate critique you have of him seriously.

Re: Colt Brennan vs Rookie class
Nice mature debate with the namecalling.
That stat that "sickens" you is directly attributable to the lack of an O-line. It's the result of him needing to get rid of the ball within 2-3 seconds after the snap.
He's shown he CAN throw deep, but no QB can even attempt deep passes with no time or protection.

Anyone who blames JC for that stat doesn't know much about football, or clocks
.
Thats funny. Todd Collins can make an good argument about that. See. Chefs game See MNF Giants game. Only reason Candle comes back up from his poor piss reading plays is because he knows his job is on the line. I herd on the LaVar show on JAN 7th that he said he doesnt welcome or approve of us drafting a QB because he feels like hes a starter in this league. He proved that in 08 with the trade thing he wanted, (btw nobody wanted him because he sucked) and now he wont want it right now. If we get a trade for him than holla loya, |

Pssst , its pathetic thinking Candle is the guy to solve everything. I would dare some one to answer this question for me. "When was the last non franchise QB other than Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer ever won a SB since 1990-2010." Even if you answer one that would be 3 out of how many years ?. For the last 20 years a franchise QB won a SB.Point fact and proven. |

It was from an ad JC did. His agent made signs for Jason Candle. At least I hope that's it, and not a mistaken spelling. |

No one is sold on Jason Campbell, we're just sick of simple minded people that think a simple change of QB will make us into a Super Bowl contender right away. The only reason Campbell is being brought up, is because some people want us to take a franchise tackle and keep Campbell in the interim until either we can a.) develop a mid-round QB or b.) we can pick up a first-round QB in 2011. |
Re: Colt Brennan vs Rookie class
So...as per the thread title what about Colt vs. the rookie class? Personally I think there is room for both Colt and a rookie.

My head is sufficiently asploded. Got to go to a thread where people are realistic enough to not think of Colt Brennan as a future starter.
There's probably some merit to the thread here, but it's been ruined. |

Everyone agrees on that. He hasn't been released because he isn't the only reason we were 4-12. Most everyone understands that too. What Shanahan does with him now will depend on what MS wants as a future qb. And only MS can answer that one, I am sure we will have a far better idea after this draft. |

What I hate is there protecting a guy who. 1: Made us be a big part of an 4-12 in the easiest schedule ever. The 05 redskins probably would have gone 14-2 with this schedule. 2: Jason is turning 29 and right now is a free agent who either can be traded or sign off to another team but if at best would be here for one year. They are protecting a QB whos gonna be here for one year????. 3: How is Jason Candle our best option? he's no better than Marc Bulger or Chad Pennington. This guy couldn't even give us a 3rd-4th rounder in his supposed best year in 08. Jets where eyeing him what happend?. They saw the Videos and saw how bad he is. Shanahan see's the videos and knows now we need a QB. me and you ...will be the best of friends lol. |

Colt Brennan's NFL prospects are dead. He's 26, and basically played his way to free agency last preseason. There's a new Sheriff in town, he'll get a workout, and that will be the end of him. Or so I predict. |

So your arguing about Campbell being here for one year than?. I mean thats what obviously your saying...part of the reason was every one else but Campbell . I mean its not Campbell fault for a 4-12 record. Yep. K i see what you mean. |
Re: Colt Brennan vs Rookie class
Anyway Brennan deserves a shot just like how Campbell and Collins both got shots last year to be a starting QB, and by a shot I mean he gets to play with the starters and not 2nd/3rd Stringers.

Yep. K i see what you mean.
Yes, I'm arguing for Campbell to be here for just a year, so we can use our resources in our offensive line, since we have an aging left tackle that has a possibly career-ending injury, and a right tackle that has no business being a starter. However, you insist on attacking Campbell as though someone is calling for him to get an extended contract and that his the franchise QB of the team. No one is arguing that, and you look a bit ridiculous bringing arguments that were debated to death here last fall. So just drop it. |

Well yeah, because once we lost to the winless detroit lions, winless KC chiefs, to name a few, I knew that we would suck and theres no point of ruining seasons of good teams such as the saints, eagles, to name a few, just for us to have a higher draft pick and be stuck with a worse pick. Wouldn't you agree that we're in a good spot in this draft to get pretty much who ever we want? I would. And the only games I wanted us to win were against Dallas, so again for the 100th time, I'm not a Dallas Fan. If you go back to the minnesota dallas game thread you'll see that I was very excited to see them lose. Now, for the 3rd time. Back to Brennan who deserves a shot with the starters and not the 3 stringers. |

Why? Why should Shanahan give the 3rd string/low round project QB picked up by the previous coach a chance? Like I said, at best Brennan is a backup, in reality he'll probably be gone come training camp. |

Re: Colt Brennan vs Rookie class
I dont think colt will stick on the roster come roster trimming time but i would like to see him start 1 pre season game with the starters.
i dont think colt will turn out to be anything but i would like to see the man get one half of football with the starters. its just hard to get a feel for colt, at least for me. i dont think you can dismiss him as a 2nd or 3rd string qb just yet. this preseason will shed light on alot of things. |
Re: Colt Brennan vs Rookie class
I think that this thread was the official start of the offseason. Thread Quality is all downhill from here.
For the record I like Colt and want to see him succeed but realistically it isn't going to happen here. It might not even happen at all. |
