Re: how and why the Raiders will make the playoffs
You are right IF you have a coach that is your leader, or vocal then you don't HAVE to be but why can't you lead your team. I'm going to try my best to keep this on topic as it relates to the Raiders. Now, you wish that Shanny would've kept JC but he didn't. Do you know why JC ended up in Oakland ? Because the tape doesn't lie. Period, Point, Blank. The man doesn't quite exude Franchise guy. It isn't about the line or the receivers it's the tape on him. His slow decision making, his reluctance to learn and call his line protections, his reluctance to take charge of the offense. That is why. I can't stand how we as Redskins fans always say well if we have a line then we can have anyone back there. It is simply not true.
As a QB you have to have something uncanny about you that get's you over that hump. People say that Rothlesberger is shit but he makes a rack of money and do you know why ? Because when the game is on the line you know that you know that you have a chance. Until JC can find that IT Factor Fairyand show the higher ups that he gives you that he will be a second tier QB. For all the "executives" and "unnamed sources" that say how good he is NO ONE WANTED HIM. Let me repeat,.... NO ONE WANTED HIM. It wasn't the "horrible line that he had", it wasn't the "running back that has lost it", or the "Wide Receivers that can't get it done",.. it was him. The QB that doesn't get the ball out fast enough, or the QB that doesn't have one bit of pocket presence, and who is clearly missing that IT factor. As I said before, if he gets that then he can be more that a QB with pretty good stats once the game is over but really didn't do much for you. If anyone would like to argue JC's lack of leadership then as I said before, why is it that Donovan brought what was NEEDED so badly ? Remember the players said this, not just me. Once he gets all of that down then IF he wins the job in Oakland then they might be able to hold down one of the top spots in the AFC. Til then, enjoy your 8-8 ceiling Oakland.
"What do I know" vs "what do I think I know". Why do I explain things with vagaries? Why are people overconfident in inductive reasoning? |
Re: how and why the Raiders will make the playoffs
Nice thread :)
Raiders only make the playoffs if they win their division, which is unlikely because of San Diego. The AFC is pretty loaded w/ contenders this year. Between the Jets, Ravens, Colts and possibly the Pats and Dolphins...damn there's a lot of talent there. I guess my point is while Oakland has made some progress they're still pretty weak against the likes of the competition. |

Re: how and why the Raiders will make the playoffs
OK... why they won't.
#1. who is the head coach? Tom Cable... good luck. Dude is about as good as Zorn #2. With a HC that bad, Jason Campbell will not win there. I really doubt JC will ever win. Unless he gets rid out that deer in headlights attitude on the field he won't be a winner. #3. Al Davis is still alive. #4. WHO CARES ABOUT THE DAMN RAIDERS!! I was listening to 106.7 the fan about a week ago, and it was all about bashing the Redskins and propping up the Raiders. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. The Raiders are a mess. I really don't care much about where JC ended up, he will not make the playoffs. If any of the 2 teams are going. It's us. We have a Franchise QB and a superbowl winning HC. Period. This shit is ridiculous and I am so sick of hearing about the damn Raiders. They will suc, WE WON'T. PERIOD NUFF SAID. :) |

Like I've told Rainy, I like his writing both on and off this board. And I'd much rather lock a lot of other threads, and SBXVII's post was pretty ridiculous. But to Matty's point, I followed the letter of the rule without regard to the spirit of the rule. So with that in mind, I'm going to leave camp again, go home and think about what I've done...
you got Zorn'd |

Re: how and why the Raiders will make the playoffs
I was just voicing my own opion on the Raider talk.
Rainy it was nothing personal towards you opening the thread or posting your blog. I like your stuff, it was more statement of my dislike for the team and now that JC is there, people are treating him like some big winner, and he isn't. That's all, I hope you aren't offended. I just get frustrated with some of our fans all of a sudden seeing JC as some great QB, and it just isn't there. I wish the guy luck. There are way to many problems oout there in oakland to make me think bringing in JC will get them into the playoffs. Sorry guys, have a great day! :) |

Re: how and why the Raiders will make the playoffs
i tell you why they won't win..cause JC will be straight SAILING balls ten to fifteen yards passed them on deep routes...that or he will hold on to the ball too long and get SACKED...sound familiar?

Re: how and why the Raiders will make the playoffs
I've talked enough about Champ Bailey, an ex Redskin I'd like to have back; With that being said, I'm really interested in Jason Campbell and how he performs as a Raider. Not that I'd want JC back or really care about the Raiders wins and losses, but how JC does with a decent O-Line will be news I'd want to read about. McNabb takes precedence now, and how he performs as a Redskin is really the most important news now. Maybe somebody from Denver is just as interested in Portis and what he says. I kinda doubt it, though. Man, I sure am rough on CP, but I gotta get rid of my anger somewhere. I don't really know what I'm getting at with all these words...
