Re: What do you drive?
2002 Honda Accord.
Kinda hoping my car will end up like the ones in the Toyota commercials with the people saying their car has like 400,000 miles or some shit. That's incredible. Although if I put anywhere near that many miles on a car, it's way past time for a new car. Right now I'm coming up on 107,000 miles. The repair dude says I'm gonna end up having to get a timing belt put in. Apparently those things run like $2,000. Ughhh. |

I've been in love since the 4th gen maximas.. well that's kind of a lie, the 3rd and 4th gen 300zx's, but I wasn't around driving age at that time. |
Re: What do you drive?
My wife is driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt. It's got a hair less than 40K miles, and has been a great car so far. No problems whatsoever (knock on wood). I was driving a 1998 Acura 2.3 CL that I'd had since 2000. Sold it a while back, and we were a 1 car household for a while. It wasn't a big deal because we both work in Bethesda only about 3 miles from where we live. So sometimes we'd carpool, other times I'd just hop on the bus ($1.35 and 15 minutes later I'd be at work). But I just got tired of it. We saved some money sharing a car for a while, but I could afford the new car, and frankly for as hard as I've been working, I felt like I owed it to myself to get a new one. Plus the wife will be working in the Tenleytown area effective Sept 1, so the timing was just right.

Re: What do you drive?
the new 4th gen altimas are freaking sweet though, love the ride, the nissan D platform fwd is better than many other fwd's I've driven as far as performance.. save maybe the honda preludes, but that's to be expected
it's towards the end of the generation run so most bugs are worked out as with any other car check on all recalls and TSBs |
Re: What do you drive?
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Just rolled over 50K miles, and have owned it for the last 10K. So far no problems. I have the 4.7 V8 so no MDS. Mileage is actually just shy of 19 HWY doing 70+, which is what the Hemi would get. I did not buy it for the MPG, I bought it for getting through the artic winters we have been having in the mid-west. So far, it has dominated at that task.
For #1, you could probably get a tuner that you can remove TM with and then reprogram the computer if you need to take it in for work.
If your truck has a tow/haul mode, try using it. It should hold the shifts longer and the computer will not allow the transmission to shift so often (up or down).
I don't have much longer. I've put some miles on this truck. I have 95K now so about 5k more and I'm good to go. As far as tow haul mode goes, it causes the engine to brake quite a bit as your coming to a stop and shifts pretty hard. When pulling a heavy trailer its great but unloaded it blows. |

Don't pay over $1k for it. $200 in parts, 4 hours worth of labor. Also, you should get this done soon. I think Honda recommends it be done at 110k miles with your model/year. |

Re: What do you drive?
I have a 2005 GMC Yukon XL 4x4 which is the larger Yukon, 2005 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4 , 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo 4x4. Yes we do need another 4x4 LOL. Had to buy the Yukon to tow the boat and the Explorer was such a good deal I could not turn it down. The Jeep is sold I think/hope.
2001 Pontiac Grand Am. It's a POS. I would never have purchased a Pontiac, but when my Camry kicked the bucket I inherited the Pontiac from my wife, and she got the new minivan.
I'm driving the sucker into the ground because it's just the smart financial move. But part of me prays for it to break down so I can get into something else!
Hopefully you're not praying for the minivan, are you? |
Re: What do you drive?
Oh, a 2006 Sebring Touring Edition, leather, all the bells and whistles. 2002 Saturn SC1 for my wife, and my old 1982 Toyota 4WD with the ol' 22R 4 cylinder engine that just keeps going, and going, and going........perfect for a redskin fan, its Maroon, and a little rusty. Has over 205,000 miles, just had a poor mans overhaul to pass emissions, and is running like a gazelle!!!!! (On 3 cylinders over 85%, the last one at under 40% for some reason.....?)
I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I guess it's fully loaded by '02 standards but now it's severely lacking in many areas.
It's a V8 so it sucks up a ton of gas and it's been nothing but problems for me since I got it about 4 years ago. The heat didn't work for a year, so that winter was a bitch; I had to get the power steering fixed about 6months after I bought it; and the AC works but not well and its dark green so it gets really hot inside. But having said all that, it's got about 115k miles on it and I have little to no intention of getting a new car anytime soon.
That was BUSTED on myth busters. |
Re: What do you drive?
I'm driving a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer. The V8 sucks on gas, but I'm getting 13-15/gallon on mixed (mostly city) driving. Comfortably fits the family (wife and 2 kids) and has the 3rd row seat, so we can get 6 adults (7 if some are smaller) fairly comfortably. We have 112k on it, and haven't had any major issues with it.
My wife drives a 2001 Honda Civic with close to 170k miles on it. It's a 4 banger, so we get 30-35/gallon easily. No major issues with it either. Hoping to drive both vehicles into the ground and replace the Civic with a larger sedan and the truck will eventually be replaced with a Soccer-Mom-Fetcher, as that is what my wife wants. |
