Another team who might make a run at him is the Jets.

Holmes and Edwards are both FAs and probably looking for a big payday. They likely will lose one of them.
I would rather have Holmes. Just think, Holmes #1, Armstrong #2, and Santana in the slot. Of course, this would present a problem for Brian Billick (if he does any of our games), since he already believes Moss' name is Santonio.
I know I am in the minority on this but I really don't care if he comes back. I can live with it if he gets a 1 year deal, but in general I am done with this group of veteran players we have that have never won anything. Santana can still play but I prefer a complete overhaul of this roster.
if he can still play...why not use him to PLAY??? Gettin rid of a guy just for turnover is crazy IF ...U don't have a guy to replace him...we don't...so give him a competitive contract for his age, and bring him back. He has been the MOST productive player we have had in 6yrs. When you find a replacement, then move to another guy(only for guys that produce for you)

The offseason has not even started yet. If we are going on the assumption that we will not be able to add any other WR's to replace him then sure I will sign him also then. I never suggested we would be better off subtracting Moss and not adding any other WR's.

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
We definitely need him. He and Armstrong are a great #1 and 2. We finally used Moss the way he should be last season and he could still be productive a couple of more years, at least one more for sure.

I hope he comes back with a 1-year deal at least, if not 2.

If he leaves, we'll need to draft a WR, which doesn't work out more times than it does...and it takes away from addressing the O-line, a more pressing issue.
Sorry, at best that is a GREAT #2 and #4. Maybe if Armstrong continues to improve - - he isn't exactly a kid you know so he may be as good as he is ever gonna be - - that tandem might be a great #2 and #3.

If this is your standard of "greatness" for the WR corps, then it is hard to imagine a team being less than "great" at the position unless they lose their top 5 WRs to injury in a single season.

Drive killer. He drops too many bug play passes. I know he caught a lot this year, but he killed us too many times. Too worried about running before catching. Thank him, and let's move on. We need to get a big body receiver in to go along with Armstrong, maybe Banks.

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent

hes a great second receiver to have but he should sign somewhere he can win with. though he would be nice to have, by the time were ready to contend he may be 33 or 34 years old.

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent

No i know he has expressed he wanted to be a redskin for the rest of his career. We want him back especially if we get a true number one reciever and we put him the slot. He will flourish even better there. He will turn into a Davone Bess like the miami dolphins.

He's already more of a slot guy than not. He played in the slot pretty extensively last year.

We could say this about Cooley and Sellers too.

Moss was one of the few consistent positive for our offense.

I don't think that keeping Moss means that we won't get a #1 WR. Moss is a slot guy and since he would prob not command a lot of money, I'm sure the team could easily keep him and add that #1 WR (if the team choses to keep him).

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent

I say we keep him, but I really don't want him, he like someone mentioned above, is a drive killer, dropping balls from time to time. I'd get Vincent Jackson and draft a speed guy like Titus Young to replace Moss.

We need to give hime REAL receiving help to take the load off. Imagine if he could operate against zone coverage or 2nd/3rd depth charted CB's!?! We were blessed this year and avoided hamstring injuries or worse but how long will that luck continue?

I expect the front office to make a move on a FA WR and fix the OL.

On some level, it will be a bit strange to see Santana in another uniform (given how he's been one of two constants since the Brunell days), but I think it's going to happen shortly.

Who actually voted NO ?!!!!? $5 million a year- done. Why would we turn away the best receiver we have had this millenium? Age 32 ok, build around him but that WR screen of his and a lesser role and stretch his health/career out seems solid to me. Thats also not a lot of money to throw at our top receiver. Moss the Boss !!!!

Uncharacteristic year for drops. Looking at the roster we had zero depth. I clapped when Galloway was let go but I did scratch my head at DThomas some but playing in all 16 games at 31 and making a push to be considered for pro bowl- how can we turn on Moss? We are a team of midgets but Moss gets it done.

That would be the smart thing to do. Resign Moss and try to sign one of the top tier FA [if we ever get around to it] to help him and Armstrong. We wont find a receiver in the draft that will contribute right away with all the other pressing needs we have.

$5mil a year is a bargain for Moss. We'd be stupid to let him go if that's all he's asking for in a 2 or 3-year deal.

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent

I said yes only because the Redskins do not have enough draft picks to fill all their needs. It least we know Santana Moss is productive. There is no guarantee a wide receiver draft pick will be successful and I would like to see the Skins get away from going after free agents all the time and start building through the draft.

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent

I think our passing offense was one of the better units on the team and Moss was a key part of that unit.

Armstrong also gave solid production despite sitting behind Joey Galloway for the first few games.

We have a trio of yong WRs waiting an opportunity to earn their stripes.
We're a rebuilding team and a key aspect of team building is player development.
But, they'll need playing time and targets to prove their value and if another WR is brought in then we'll never know what these receivers could be given more targets/opportunity.

Then we also have 2 solid TEs that could be utilized in a more efficient/productive manner.

I expect an uptick in production from the passing game as a result of just having another year in the system and making better use of our current personnel.
Losing the main cog in our passing game removes the benefit of system fit/system knowledge.

^ wow I didnt know you could see who voted and which way. I mean I can understand saying no to should we offer Moss a outrageous contract. But damn, one of the last "core" Redskins that's not primarily a special teamer you all just want to let go?go

I think we have to offer him one and offer him a good one too. Sure no 6 year deal but a 3 year deal sounds more then fair. He's our best offensive player and besides maybe using a little hgh so he can continue to play at a high and not retire early he's outstanding character wise. I honestly would make him our number 1 target for FA.[I

If we contend next year it will only be because we have a bunch of new guys step up. Moss isn't going to make or break anything, so let's just move on and get younger.

That worked out so well, the last time we tried to go younger in our WR corps. One is a NJ special teams guy and the other is the hospital's favorite visitor.
