Re: Philadelphia Eagles Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
When we play the Eagles we just need to go with 10 Offensive Lineman get Ryan Pain Train Torain back there for the direct snap and just run it down their throats. Then hope maybe he can do the old school Tebow jump pass every once in a while. Hail!!!

Yes. This was not an addition, it was an upgrade. |
Re: Philadelphia Eagles Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
terrible news, that's a very eagle friendly deal. upsetting.

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
I would think the Eagles are stacking up on corners to slow down the 4+ recievers sets that the Packers are known for.

I hate the Cowboys, the Giants, and Philly in that order It just puzzles me why we are always second rate. BTW, Nnambdi A wouldn't have come to the Redskins at any price. That is a sad state of affairs!

It's almost like he's a young up and comer, but the reality is he was drafted by the Raiders in '03, so he's been in the league 8 seasons. The Eagles will probably get at least 3 years out of him, but then again we said the same thing about McNabb. |

You have to run the ball on them anyway. Keep Vick 2.0 off the field. Chris Chester video is coming up and needless to say there is hope for the running game, especially if Torain is healthy against the Iggles. However shootout and we're dead. |

Philly seems to be having a good off season. I'm going to say that Noel Devine makes that team and contributes.

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
Philly was going to win the east IMO anyway, this just makes it even more convincing. They R loaded on Offense and now pretty damn good on D.. Add Babin also and they should win 10-11 games.

Every time we've brought in a "difference maker", we've seen how that plays out. Yup, still the bottom of the division. You know, they say the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again expecting different results. It's about time we try something new, which is exactly what we've done this off-season. I'm sorry it doesn't fit you Ceratto fan boys game plan, but it's a productive one and a plan that last for more than one year. |

The way the Redskins are running FA this year is the way it should have been done in the past. The Redskins have made themselves better, the Eagles will be great but injuries happen and one never knows. If we are the doormat, then we get a chance at Luck or Barkley next year. |

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
its not the instant win formula anymore... that didn't work.
first you've got to build a team full of good players - before we had a bunch of high priced guys and zero depth. now we've got lots of cheap depth and we're building up the talent level off our 23-53rd roster slots immensely, though our starters have also gotten better. The iggs and gints having being doing that for years, so we're a little behind, but this is a good start, and we haven't been lobbing big money. you can't afford to have a 50% success rate on 100$mill contracts, and good players cost more to get here because we're not a good franchise right now. if nmandi wanted to get rich losing he could have stayed in oakland. no, we're probably not going to the playoffs this year, but if we find out our first 4 picks are all monsters, we're in a really good position to spend big and find the great QB next year. the colts, eagles, steelers, and pats all draft a lot of guys and then the PUT THEM ON THE FIELD to see what they can do. what good is using the draft to get 13 cheap players if you're only ever going to let them ride the pine? most picks in round 5-7 and depth only, but if a couple can play for you, you're way ahead... you have to give them a chance though and a down year is a good time to get things fixed and see what you've got. i still believe in getting some average/baseline vets to protect us in case some guys are just straight terrible, but atlanta lost everything (coach franchise QB etc) and somehow managed to get a couple rookies and jump right back into contention. sometimes i wish we played in the nfc west though. we could still get home field with this roster. |

I think the Redskins best chance to win this year is to always win shootouts. With those rookie receivers and some old vets we should be humming on offense. (what I would do for this to be a true statement). The Skins getting more than 14 points is an ordeal. I think our defense is going to be the best in the division this year. I have a good feeling about Kerrigan and Orakpo will get better chances having him. Dreaming of a Steeler type pass rush. Like the Wilson signing. Safties should be one of the better tandems in the NFL. |

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
I don't really understand this move for any party. It will be fascinating if the Eagles hold onto Asante Samuel. But if they trade him as assumed, teams are just going to throw at DRC all day, every day, and Asomugha will never see the football.
Furthermore, this isn't a monster deal or anything, and I'm not sure how any team got priced out of the market for Asomugha per these contract terms. Oakland loses, Dallas loses, the Jets lose, and Philadelphia...spends money on a good talent. Are they going to play zone or man? I don't really know. Philly: a really impressive offseason and they have a really loaded roster at many positions, including CB. The Asomugha move is a boost to their secondary, but I don't think it is anything more than that. |

We have always tried to bring in "difference" makers and it never worked out. What we did this year was bring in several solid players that will be on the team for years. Orakpo, Kerringan, Hall and Landry are the playmakers on defense the Wilson, Bowen and Cofield signings gave us solid starters to make it easier to make plays. On offense we drafted receivers, signed receivers, drafted some running backs, signed a new replacement at RG who is solid and have Montgomery at center. We need depth not superstars right now and thats what we've been getting. Hopefully we can get Jamal Brown back and I think our O-line could be solid for a change. |

Bro, I know how it feels to feel like that, since we root for the same team obviously. It looks bad right now, that the rich are getting richer while it seems we're stuck in neutral. But in reality you just need to trust in the coaching staff. They know what they're doing, and the moves we're making right now aren't so that we can win now, they're so we can win in the long term. Remember how it felt when this team was making big time moves in the offseason, but never the draft? Remember the excitement we all felt when we traded for and/or signed guys like McNabb, Haynesworth, Archuleta, Randle El, Brandon Lloyd, Jeff George, Primetime, Bruce Smith, Mark Carrier, etc.? At the time, we all thought we were getting players who would be playing at the pinnacle of their positions for a long time. Instead, we got players who never performed or lived up to any expectations. Over a decade we proved that you can't win consistently by signing big name free agents to big money deals and expecting them to repeat their success here. Yeah I know, Nnamdi is different. He's a humble yet talented leader who lets his play do all the talking, and I mean all the talking. He's so humble he's willing to take less money if it means he will get one step closer to winning a Super Bowl. The anti-Haynesworth, it seems. It doesn't matter. This team isn't one shutdown corner away from winning a Super Bowl, and it won't be for quite some time. We have too many holes to fill, and there's no way he'd ever give us the "contender discount." The Eagles made the right move, and we made the right move as well. All I'm saying is don't think the season is over before it's ever begun. If all these no name guys like John Beck never got a chance to prove themselves, NFL history would be missing a lot of great names, like Kurt Warner, Rod Smith (who was Shanny's discovery), etc. Just give him a chance. |
