Haha hey now I didn't mean to start back up the civil war here! I have lived in southern states and northern states they both have their good points and their bad points!
I can say I've lived in VA all my life and never heard of cornhole until a year ago.

Beans..... Corn? It doesn't matter the filling.... it's a bag that gets tossed into a hole. I wonder what the south south called "Lawn Darts"? what about the hoola hoop, pogo stick, stilts.........?

Re: Wanted to Show these off

Ok, I'll help out cause it confused me. Supposedly in Kentucky they have a game very much like what we would know as "Hide and Seek." lol.

Basically she said you put a can in the street and everyone runs to hide and the person who is "it" kicks the can and counts to ten then searches for everyone. Basically home base is the can. Looking it up under Wiki they used a different term but similar concept.
BurkenIn Europe, a variant of this game is called "burken" (the can), known in English as "kick the can." Here, the person who is "it" has to search for the other players and, if someone is found, run back to home base, get there before the other player and call out that person's name. The first player to be tagged in this way is "it" in the next round. However, if the last player remaining can make it to home-base without being tagged and yell "burken är sparkad. 1,2,3" ("The can is kicked. 1,2,3.") the person who's currently "it" has to be "it" in the next round as well.

He host cash tournys and runs a couple leagues in some establishments round town...yall Richmond cats check it out if you want to get into some league play. Some serious players out there. I like playing, but cant be that serious when im 6 dank beers deep or just dank deep
That's cool. Does he ever try to get more outside people to contract building sets for him?

Are you for serious player? That's crazy talk. You must live in NOVA. In Richmond and the southwest it is BIG.
I have never played cornhole, though I have seen it played 2 or 3 times. My observation of the game was that the thrower almost always uses an ice cold 12oz counter weight in their non-throwing hand. I'm not sure if it is a rule or custom.
Take your pick. It happens either way. It's what makes the game great.

I've lived in NoVa all my life and never heard of cornhole before I came up this site either. I feel like they could've made a better name. Anytime cornhole comes up I tend to think of that scene in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back where the deputy tells his guys to come with him back to the station so they can cornhole a drunk.

The name sounds like something better left to the activity yard at Folsom.........

Well, if you think about it other than in a gang rape way, you are throwing bags filled with CORN, into a HOLE cut. Thus Corn Hole. It's a southern thang. If you lived in the south instead of the north (NOVA) mooby you would be affluent to these sorts of things. It's probably b/c you don't have enough space to set these two boards 27 feet apart from each other to play. LOL :cheeky-sm

I think people tend to like goofy names for these types of games.

My friends and I call the washers game "Flip Pie" because that's what my dad randomly called a set that I made a few years ago. The name stuck ever since because it's so ridiculous. The funny thing is my friend introduced this game as Flip Pie at some Penn State alumni events and now there's a whole group of them that only know the name as Flip Pie.

Anyway, good work Jontrem
