It's amusing to see Americans become squeamish and bewildered when they hear Sharia Law. A few facts...a) Lybia is 97% Muslim, b) all Muslim countries have some sort of Sharia law. Some are lax others are very strict. Some are mixed with common law, some are not, others have two court systems for common law and sharia law.

Now that we have the basic facts down we are left with one question, what kind of Sharia School of Law will they establish in Libya? Obviously whatever they establish be based on Sunni School of thought. Will they transition to the Hanafi school used in Pakistan and Turkey? Hanabali like the Saudis? Maintain their existing Mālikī school of law much like the rest of the north African countries? Or will they adopt Shafi'i which is used in east African and south east Asian Muslim countries?

Another victory notch for Obama and co.They managed to do what a lot of administrations couldn't do....Give it up![/quote]

So please tell us what Obama did to turn these people against their dictators. I thought we just got involved after he started killing evryone in the uprising.

Obama doesn't have to do anything to turn the people against their oppressive dictator. To attempt to coerce people into such a natural thing is futile. What Obama did was to protect the people and aid them any possible way. Operation Odyssey Dawn, read about it. Obama brought the initial planning and the most muscle but you already know all of this right?

It does seem like simple stuff and so I am left to ask "is this simple stuff news worthy?"

Besides Qaddafi being a miserable dictator economic conditions were the primary cause of the uprising and Obama did in fact instituted the sanctions on Libya that were lifted by GW. We also provided them with material support in food aid, air support, and medical supplies. That's called turning their people against them.

My point was that Obama did nothing to start the uprising which started within. He support the uprising after it started and placed the sactions after the fact. I'll give him credit for the support he provided but not for getting any of this started.
