Wow.. Reading the Cardinals forums makes me think we have like 20 undercover Redskin fans out there. Or they are just bigger realists then we are lol..

2/3 of their predictions have the Redskins winning by a touchdown+
Yeah I don't know if you call that Realism or pessimism, but it's hard to be real confident after surrendering 422 yards to a rookie.
I will be very curious to see which Rex shows up. During his Super Bowl year of 2006, he had several games with passer ratings in the 100's, just as he did against the Giants. But he also had several games where his passer rating did not break 20.

Rex had a good game against the Giants. Let's hope he brings that every week including this one.
Last time Grossman played the Cards he had a TERRIBLE game. That said the Bears still won. lol

I remember this game. I had Sexy Rexy on my bench and he was lighting it up with the Bears. I start him for this game and he laid an egg. I hope history doesn't repeat this Sunday.

42 Skins
28 Cards

With better run blocking; Hightower has a great game against his former team; gets 150 on the ground and 2 tds. Grossman has a solid game, 3 tds, 1 int. Banks has a punt return TD. Gano misses 2 FG's. Fitzgerald has a good game, and so will Wells, but we get to 2-0 with no scares.

Oh yeah keep in mind that this is a 10 AM kickoff for the Cardinals. They'll have to be at the stadium at around 7 or 8 am Arizona time to get ready, which in all honesty is kind of bull.

When do they fly out to the DC area? Don't they fly down around Thursday or Friday? I think that is more than enough to recover any inter-continental jetlag.

It depends, but teams usually don't fly into town until the day before. Playing an early game is kinda tough. 1 PM here, 10 AM back home.

I don't have a predicted score yet but I can see Shannahan pointing out mistakes from the Giants game and this team going out to prove it wasn't a fluke. I think we'll play well enough to win........BIG.

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread

I've held off on the Redskins optimism through what was a pretty darn awesome win because now they have a home game against Arizona and it's a game they really should win. If it's a better team than I and many others had projected at the beginning of the season, the Redskins should take care of the Cardinals without much of a struggle at home.

There are two "easy" home games on the entire schedule: this week, and when San Francisco comes in. Regardless of what happens in the other six (now five) home games, these are the two that will separate a season like we had in 2008 (8-8) from a season like we had in 2005 (10-6, or better).

We crushed the 49ers in 2005, and we crushed the Lions in 2007. In years the Redskins have gone to the playoffs, they crushed the bad teams they played at home.

So you know what? I thought this was a 6 or 7 win team. If I'm wrong, and these guys are really an 8 or 9 win team, then while beating the Giants is nice, go out there and beat down a team you should beat down. Win by two TDs or more.

I think we'll have our answer about what kind of team the Redskins are after this week. Are we similar to the teams that beat the 49ers by five TDs in 2005 and beat the Lions by 4 TDs in 2007? Or is this like the 2008 team that got beat by the Rams at home? There will not be any secrets after this week.

If you're asking me, we should tryout some K's in Monday if he has a bad game. We're gonna be in some close games, and IMO when the games on the line, Gano chokes. But Shanahan has A LOT of faith, and confidence in Gano, so that probably won't happen.

I agree GTripp. This game should tell whether we're contenders or pretenders. Good teams don't lay down and they beat teams they're suppose to beat. This one should tell a lot about our season and I don't think that is lost on guys like Fletcher. Let's do it.

If this is going to be a good team then this is a game that must be won. A home game against a below average team that has to travel cross country and play a 9am game their time.

I completely agree. This game will serve as a marker for the first half of the season, barring any major injuries or setbacks. If they can hang 28 points on the Cards or beat them by a couple of scores, I think this team is headed in the right direction regardless of what happens in Dallas in week three.

Shanny has shown he's never afraid to bring in competition if it'll help the team, no matter how much allegiance he's shown to a guy. So if Gano goes out and sucks it up this week too, we can probably expect to see some kicker tryouts eventually. I can't believe Gano was perfect in preseason and then went out and missed a 39 yard field goal on his first kick of the season. He needs to get his mind right.

I don't know. 3 nights doesn't seem like enough time to adjust to a morning game if you ask me. On the plus side it keeps them out of trouble with the night club scene. Who knows, maybe I feel sympathetic due to the fact that I've been dealing with insomnia for a while now.

INSIDE INFORMATION !!!!Ok maybe not "inside" but I've lived out here in AZ for a few years and I've had season tix to cardinals since new stadium ... couple observations from a former VA dude whose now a guy wearing shorts on thanksgiving ...

#1. Cardinals have had trouble flying east to play games for every year since I've lived here. That time change is a BITCH & they truly do have a HOME FIELD advantage in AZ,that stadium gets rockin' believe it or not & they win a lot of games at home because of that.

#2. The Cardinals are an interesting team for sure, yeah they sucked last year but 2 years ago they beat GB in the wild card and oh yeah they were in the SB before that. That being said, this is a new team, Coach Whiz is pretty damn good/Beanie is running hard/Fitz is well, Fitz, Kolb looks a lot better in Sedona RED than Philly Piss Green ... They break down like this IMO : Offense is very solid, Deucet is a lot better #2 WR then people think, he reminds me of Boldin..not to mention they signed Todd Heap TE so they can spread it ... I love the Skins' Defense this season but they are going to be working OT to keep this team under 20 ... I smell a shoot out

#3. The Cardinals defense = Sucks ... they have some pieces but the way we are designed to attack with Davis, Moss, HIGHTOWER, is not good news for them... We are going to be lights out at Fed Ex on the offense ... mark my word we could hit a 40+ spot for the first time in a long time

#4. Special Teams = Solid as can be, always have been

So that's my inside scoop ... this team can be shaken and if the Skins' start out focused and let Timmy H. run the ball against his former team we are going to be in for a fun day ... Hightower tried to be the Cardinals go to guy for a long time and has been solid and a stand up dude , he's def got some extra juice to blow this game up big time ...

One more quick note on my longest post ever:
After the Cardinals beat the Eagles in the NFC Championship game the crowd was so crazy and loud and as we all exited the stadium this Eagles fan came up to me and says " congratulations it was a hell of a game" .. at the time I had my Dockett Jersey on mind you ... so I said to him " yeah it was a good game, good game not be a Philly fan & I lifted up my shirt and showed him the redskins t-shirt underneath the jersey and said "3 Super Bowls BIIIAATTCHHH"

That's a question we probably could ask prior to each game before the bye-week. We have a starter that played with our first four opponents...would be first five if McNabb was still here.

Since that playoff run they've lost Warner, Boldin, Hightower, DRC, Rolle and Dansby. Too many good players there to replace and that's one of the reason they're not a good team anymore.

Last year our week 1 win was because of our opponent's ineptitude far more than our brilliance. This year our win was definitely due to lights out D in the 2nd half, and productive offense and special teams the rest of the game.

Don't think the two situations are parallels.

We don't win that game last year if Red Head told Romo to take a knee, which USUALLY is SOP. We don't win if Romo just chucked it out of bounds or put in the dirt, which a BETTER QB would have done.
It won't be happening again for a LONG time.

Another home game. This is one of those teams that likes to spread you out, the kind of team that would have given us big-time trouble last year. By the same token, their oline has sown signs of being dreadful, we should be able to put and keep the pressure on Kevin Kolb in hopes of limiting the big plays. Where matchup's for the offense is concerned, this should be one of the better ones of the season.

Sexy Rexy - 325 Yards, 3 TD, 1 INT
Hightower - 90 Yards Rushing, 55 Yards Passing, 2 TD
Fred - 100 Yards, 2 TD
Banks to DA HOUUUSEE!!!!

Story of two defenses that can give up the big play. High scoring affair....

I think HighT will be able to provide our team with some offensive insight.

I also see us winning this game. I see it being close early. Then as the game moves forward we pull out ahead. Of course without the added pressure and energy that the 9/11 game brought we may have more focus early on and provide us a way to get out to a lead early on. Who knows. LOL

I just want to see us build off of the Giants game. Also I want to see the some of the same things as far as the defense and the passing game. Better OL play, building on the running game, JW and DH: who ever is playing Fitz at the time hold your own don't get owned, Gano making a FG or 2 if given the chance, and Rex being turnover free would go a long way to getting another W.

Im not buying the blowout talk or already counting this team with a 2-0 record. No freakin way. Not close.

Arizona's offense is nothing to laugh at. Like I stated before, their offense will bring a much tougher challenge than the Giants.

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread

I think our pass rush will decide whether we win this game or not. I don't think we can shut down Fitz, and Kolb has some nice options in Doucet and Heap. Cofield and Neild need to come up big (well mainly Cofield, Neild just needs to continue to do what he did in Gm 1) in collapsing the pocket and giving the LBs opportunities to go after Kolb.

On the offensive side of the ball, our line needs to protect Rex, so he can take advantage of their secondary. If we take the lead early in the game, it will allow our defense to be more aggressive and go after Kolb.

Tougher on the whole? Debatable. Cards running game is worse. Cards receiving corps is better than the Giants, but not by much. Nicks is pretty DAMN GOOD in his own right. And don't forget Manningham punishing Hall for Hall's lack of tackling skill.

Korn on the Kolb might be good, might not be good. We hit him, and he'll screw things up. Guaranteed.
