That's my thought on this. If they fired the GM, I might would say they go a different direction in terms of a QB. The fact they are staying with the same GM tells me he's going to want to stick with that decision instead of admitting a huge mistake. Also, it's only been one year and truthfully are playing him much sooner than he should be. |

When the Seattle Supersonics were sold a few years back, I believe one of the terms was that the team stay put in Seattle. And look what happened with that. |
Re: Jaguars Being Sold
The Jags have a MNF game coming up soon. As of this morning, I heard they have 11,500 tickets that have not sold yet - - for a MNF game when the team is 3-8. Remember, the Jags have already put a tarp over approximately 10,000 seats in the stadium just to reduce capacity so that they have a prayer of selling games out once in a while. So, in reality, the MNF game can only draw a crowd that is about 21,000 folks short of capacity.
A new owner - - one with enough money to buy this franchise - - is not going to let lease termination costs stand between him and a better market than Jax. And, it will not be hard for him to find a "better market than Jax"... The problem with moving them to LA is that it puts pressure on the NFL to do realignment and just about nobody in the league wants to go through that goat rodeo unless it is absolutely essential. |
The saints were always rumored to move away from New Orleans and we are talking the "Aints" who never sold seats so I think the jags are safe for now.

No they wouldnt. Even when the Jags were doing good they were #2 by a mile, now that they suck its more like 5 miles. Its a college football area and that's never gonna change. |

I didn't say they would overtake the Gators in the fan area. I live in a college town so I know how that works. I just said the attendance would be much better, and it would. Even with the Redskins being shitty, you see more of the visiting teams fans than you probably would at a Green Bay, Pittsburgh, New England. |

It seems so odd to me that the GM would get a contract extension the day the team was sold. Why would an owner that never met him extend his contract? it almost seems like a golden parachute for Smith from Weaver. |

I would equate that to a President giving some pardon to a criminal on his way out the door. It's essentially a gift to the current GM. Sure the next owner may very well decide to can the current GM (probably should), but he'd be on the hook for his contract most likely. |

I love how people even consider the fact that the Jaguars won't be in LA .. i don't throw this out often but " Come On Man " ... this is as good as done ... that's tough to see a city lose a franchise I can't imagine what that must feel like to a die hard fan .. i know they don't draw well & all that but imagine your a 21 year old and you grew up rooting for the Jags and they up and move across country .. that's brutal ... that is why I always feel bad for the Browns

That's what I am getting at. And if this new owner cans Smith then the Jags could end up in the QB market. |

I still believe the new owner is going to allow the current GM at least one year so he can sit back and take it all in. It's hard to come into a franchise, and just start chopping heads without knowing anything that's gone on or how things operate. Most of the time you'll have that period for the new guy to get acquainted with the surroundings and then start making changes. Besides, it would be hard to sell to the fans that you are dropping Gabbert for a new shiny QB, when you didn't even give Gabbert a good chance. It might be a bit different if he were picked up in the 2nd and later rounds, but a high 1st round pick. Dunno.. |

He has some physical skills but he looks lost out there on anything other than the simplest pass plays. Remember the the "deer-in-the-headlights" look that Patrick Ramsey used to have when Spurrier almost got him killed with some of those college patterns? Check out Gabbert next time you can... Last week he was bad enough that Del Rio pulled him in the middle of the game. Knowing that the GM wanted Gabbert in the game and that the owner and the GM were "tight", he still pulled Gabbert. Del Rio is not a Hall of Fame coach by any means, but he is not a dunce either. |
Re: Jaguars Being Sold
I'd say Gabbert looks more like Shuler than Ramsey right now.

New owner lives in Illinois and is planning on buying a house in Jacksonville. I don't think they are going anywhere. |

Pakistani immigrant moves to the US makes billions off the development of a one piece bumper and later on in life buy an NFL franchise ahhhh the American Dream lives on..............:vomit:

OK, I can go with that. Neither comparison is particularly flattering and so far with about 10 games under his belt, Gabbert has not distinguished himself. |
Re: Jaguars Being Sold
I hope that if/when Jacksonville goes to LA, that they re-align the conferences, particularly to get the NFC west into a better conference.
