Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
I would say an 100% no to Colston or V. Jackson. How many times have we seen FA wr's go to another team and flame out? Plus Colston will be 29 and he's always got a bum knee. Jackson has had too many DUI's. Too risky. I would go out and get the best guard or right tackle that's out there.

He's a serious upgrade over anyone we currently have. Hopefully he's on their list but I doubt it. They already have money tied up in Chester and they like Cory L. But perhaps they could sign Nicks and move Cory L. over to center. |

X2. I see no reason to sign Royal what so ever. Guys like him can easily be found. |
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
Royal could be a Gaffney type of player here. I'd have no issue with bringing him in, but he doesn't solve our need for a big play guy.

Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
I'm all for Eddie Royal, and I think Eddie Royal is all for Mike Shanahan.
He brings some legitimacy, and more big plays. |
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
Colston--we need height!
WR-Colston, Gaffney, Moss, Armstrong and Hankerson RB-Helu/Hightower FB-Young/Schmidt QB- RGIII/Rex/Hill or Hoyer |

If Nicks wasn't what Shanny was looking for in a guard, why the hell would we give him a big money deal? You don't sign players that you aren't sure can fit your system. |

He only had 2, count'em 2, 100 yard rushing games the entire season. That's only one more than Torain. Why would we keep him? ;) |

Lol. How many did Hightower have again? We keep him because his initals are ER and that's where he sends defenders. |

I don't see why not. Better than getting "MF" Matt Flynn right? |
VJax: It's been kind of hot and cold with those rumors. Some days I hear the interest is very strong, other days I don't
Bowe: I know there are people saying it's possible but I myself haven't heard any strong interest Colston: Matty may recall that I told him 2-3 years ago that we liked Colston a lot and were going after him. But we're going to have to outbid the Saints and Jaguars for him (and Bowe maybe to J'Ville as well), and Allen does not intend to get into bidding wars for them Royal: Almost a lock...but then again so was Davin Joseph last year As for the draft, I've only heard of interest in Wright, Criner, and Rainey And Moss and Armstrong are definitely on the bubble
Colston would be a nice addition, all 6'4" of him. Of course, durability is a concern with him, but when healthy, he's a true #1 and a nice big target for Luck. (please let that rumor come true) If we don't get far in the bidding war, Eddie Royal isn't that great a consolation prize. I've never been impressed with Garcon either, seems like he's had a lot drops at key times in drives/games. Hear of any other FA targets at other positions? Would also love Rainey late, but his skill set is pretty similar to Helu. As a Gator alum though, I've enjoyed watching him make a lot of defenders miss and run through arm tackles. He could be special, definitely would be a good replacement for Banks returning kicks. |

YES!!! Stated in another thread a bit ago that I have loved that kid since he came out and I really wanted to draft him that year. But oh well would love to get him now. SKINSFANinOk- Yo bud remember that Eddie's first year was with MS. I am sure their is mutual interest from both side for him to come here and join the skins. Plus I think MS just knows how to use the kid so I would be excited to have him. I would look to that first year as far as production rather than the last three. WR would still need that #1 guy, but I would say it would be a safe bet that ER could take SM spot and be more productive. one thing SM does a ton of is drop the ball. He has not been that big play guy for awhile. |

He would be a Skin right now had it not been for AJ Smith playing hardball. I remember there being huge interest from us but weren't about to pay the price that AJ wanted. |

NC is right is he not SS? i remember the year Dmac was here we were trying to get him were we not? Or was that just all conjucter?

Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
I really want us to focus on WR first, CB next and then OL. I'm on record for thinking we have among the worst WR groups in the NFL with only one (Hankerson) potential playmaker in the group. I'd love to see us very aggressive in free agency to address this. Love Colston's talent, don't care for his injury history, love D-Jax speed but not his attitude, love Bowe in the red zone but not his speed/concentration all the time.
Dream free agency would be Colston, Royal, Grimes (CB) and maybe an OL. On the OL I hope we focus on center. I'm ok with the rest of the line (but with a healthy Brown or a drafted replacement) and don't think it's nearly as bad as we are conditioned to believe it is. |
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
Offense - Ben Grubbs because Carl Nicks is likely going to cost to much for a guard and maybe a little too big for ZBS. Definitely Chris Meyers - a Shanny oline guy and yeah he's 31 but this team is younger. I don't think any of the big WR's are attainable either by FT or bidding wars, maybe Meechum - Eddie Royal could fill 2 roster spots, one being a Banks replacement and possible slot (Moss).
Defense: I'd like to see us bring in another CB, like Brandon Carr and we're going to have to find a Carriker replacement. He isn't going to give us a hometown discount. Thinking maybe Calais Campbell. |

He would be a nice addition. We sure do like those ex-Ravens, huh? The Ravens' prolonged success must really eat away at our front office. |

I really am not a fan at all of free agency, and the few guys I've named in my post of who I wouldn't mind getting, aren't even linked to the skins or won't come here...ahhh

Ha! Mostly, yes. He must particularly be mad about all the lost revenue from former Skins fans from Maryland that have defected to the Ravens over the years. |

Correct. The newer generation coming up in the DC/Maryland area will be Raven fans due to the fact they are a winner. I think as kids, we tend to pick the winners early on and that's how we become fans. (or it's inherited via family) |
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
Ravens are easy to attract relatively because you can convince them they don't need to uproot their families
|
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
If people said that about Moss in New York, they would have been wrong. Eddie Royal's one good season came as a rookie with Shanahan calling the shots.
I don't think that means Shanahan shouldn't take a flyer on him to see if he's got the same skill set he did in 2008, but chances are he doesn't, and he won't be an improvement over Banks in the return game, and won't give the Redskins a useful receiver in the passing game. Not that it's not worth a shot to see if Royal can surprise, but he's unlikely to provide any help here.
Well since we might not have Moss, Armstrong, Stallworth, and Austin it would make sense I guess... not like Banks or Austin saw much time at WR. And Stallworth was cut before being brought back. Though I think we will carry one less receiver this year. |
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
If we have a pro level WR core there is no need to keep 8 guys again this year. I could see us keeping 5 or 6 at most.
If we bring in Colston and Royal; then we go into next year with Colston, Gaffney, Hankerson, Royal, and Moss. Add another rookie and there you go. No need for 8 WR again. |
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
Wow, just looking at the new revenue sharing for 2012. New TV contracts ($3 bil) kick in, that's $1.1 bil more than the year before.
With $19 million per year per team plus add that to the fact that teams will be able to add unspent 2011 cap dollars to their 2012 salary caps ($13.6 mil for Skins) and we will see some record deals for top players and very pricey contracts for average players. |
Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
We need playmakers. I see no reason why we should sign run-of-the-mill WR's in FA. We already have enough of that type. For me, it's VJax, Bowe, or bust.
I would make an exception for Eddie Royal because of his versatility (KR/PR) and his record of success with MS as his HC. |

Re: 2012 Free Agency Wish List
Just read a Tweet by Matt Williamson that the Dolphins are going to the 4-3 defense...
"Matt Williamson Talked about it on today's podcast, but #Dolphins going to 4-3 makes no sense at all to me. Have to Solai will then leave in free agency" I think Soliai (who should be a UFA) would be much better at the NT position. If Carriker leaves, then put Soliai at DT, and have a rotation of Cofield, Jenkins, and Bowen at DE. Also, those three guys could be our pass rushing DL on 3rd and long. |
I m just saying I see many on here wanting Eddie royal like he's devin Hester or something and he's just not
